Another Worship Thursday. #create #participate #engage #risk
We will not allow our gifts and talents to be hidden. We will enter the Kingdom through the door marked ‘create’.
We will encourage all to contribute. Our ideas are a gift offered to God. We will enter the Kingdom through the door marked ‘participate’.
We will be hospitable and supportive to one another, to visitors and to the wider church. We will engage with everyday life and connect with culture. We will enter the Kingdom through the door marked ‘engage’.
We will not be afraid to fail but will push at our boundaries and try new things. We will enter the Kingdom through the door marked ‘risk’.
We will go through these doors in the power of the Spirit, knowing that Jesus has gone through them all first.
[Prayer from Grace Community, Ealing]
A New Year blessing.
Iona led a lovely Worship Thursday. We made these beautiful mini mandalas.
We held our Christmas Nativity in the community garden, making lanterns and a snowman, eating soup, rolls and mince pies and doing a wonderful pop-up nativity with local children and adults. #feelingblessed #goodneighbours #allwelcome
Team Time. Thinking about what we celebrate at Christmas #advent #preparing
And finally ... a lovely card for the whole team sent to us by Anita from the Netherlands. Anita spent two weeks with us in the summer and was such a joy to have around.
Encouraging insights from Cormac Russell.
Last week at Worship Thursday we had a lovely time reflecting on Isaiah 40. Howard used everyday objects to help us to focus on the passage. We then drew and stamped our responses. Our friend Peter from Church from Scratch in Southend joined us. It was also the Urban Expression Prayer Day so we spent time praying for friends in the West Midlands and the south coast.
Dear friends
We’re really sorry to have been so poor at keeping you up to date so we're going to try harder! We’ve not written on here for almost a year but now we've got a few posts at once. Waiting for buses to come along comes to mind!
At our last monthly Worship Thursday Catherine led us through a lovely reflection on Luke chapter 1 where the angel visited Mary. We wrote our responses:
For the Wonder
The folly and simplicity, Choosing the humble to change the world, To impact the mighty and influence all life. Jesus the Messiah entered the world via a small part of David’s heritage, Caused a stir in a world before delivery, A move of your Spirit that must have been beauty to behold.
You changed the world! You actually did it; You came down in person to intervene. And you did it through these ordinary, flawed, unlikely, unspectacular people. O come, O come Emmanuel And change the world again THROUGH US.
Grace and mercy pour from your heart O God. You love us as we are and delight in what we will become. We need your strength to commit to serving you wholeheartedly. Thank you for meeting us in our hour of need.
Thank you Jesus for coming to earth as a baby – into an ordinary family. Thank you that you want to know and love us too. You are the alpha and omega - the beginning and the end.
Thank you for your prayers and support. They mean so much to us.
We wish you all a joy-filled and peaceful Christmas.
It was our monthly Worship Thursday gathering this week and Iona lead us in a gorgeous time of reflection. At the end we were invited to ponder some verses of scripture and use air drying clay depict our responses.

A lovely sunny day to harvest tomatoes at the community garden. Sowed some salad leaves and cress and carried on with the weeding and clearing.
It was ‘Worship Thursday’ Week. We were looking at Psalm 139. We reflected on where God has been for us this week, we wrote ‘consequence style’ prayers and made these brilliant balloon people. Fun times!
We’re in the process of moving the Community Garden to a bigger space on one of the local estates. On Sunday we gathered to move some of the raised beds and make some decorations. We were joined by some of the neighbours and together we painted tyres, made bird feeders, fun fencing and slate signs. It’s starting to look and feel pretty special! #funtimes #communitygardening
At Open House today we made our own oatcakes, from scratch. We also made chocolate rice crispy cakes and enjoyed eating them all at the end!

On Easter Sunday we returned to the garden and, having removed the rubbish from the cross, we decorated it with brightly coloured ribbon and hung bunting between the trees. People joined us to hear the Easter story (recited by Howard) and we hunted for Easter eggs. #EasterSunday #worship
