Hi!! I wanted to comment on the thoughts you put in the hashtags for the repost of my paladin armor pondering lmao
Because I 100% agree with you that the paladins having had customized their own armor to better suit them as individuals would’ve been fantastic. I love the idea.
And I genuinely don’t know if the suits of armor were made of the same stuff as their bayards/lions, but if they were, then they totally should’ve had like, the unique form-shifting abilities too.
Having a stealth mode option, or something better suited for underwater exploration, or for colder conditions etc would’ve been so freaking cool 😔‼️ also them adding personalizations AGH, THE OPPORTUNITIES
This is why I love seeing artists redesign them/bits of the lore in general.
omg hi!! i’m going to use this as an opportunity to ramble about some specific ideas i have for their armor lol
but in general i wish we saw more outfit and appearance changes from the paladins!! the armor specifically was such a missed opportunity to make some cool tech and integrate it into their missions
comet aside, Alteans had complex technology that they fused with literal magic, so there had to be some hidden abilities or properties in the armor to allow for form shifting.
i said this in my tags, but aesthetic wise i like the idea of capes denoting which lion they pilot & having that lion’s sigil depicted. definitely would have helped after the lion switch
also having two sets of armor: regular and ceremonial. ceremonial armor would be more detailed, lighter, and not intended for intense combat
i love when character's uniform outfits match, but aren’t identical. it allows for so much characterization to be worked into their designs. that being said i think i would try to implement more colour variation in each paladin to further emphasize their connections to each other/the other lions. just little details so that each person isn't just drenched in one colour lol
also having them actually acquire items or take inspiration from the other planets/people would be nice
HUNK first because i miss him:
utility belt with pockets and storage is a must
he is an engineer !!! he would need a place for all his tools and parts
goggles or glasses for eye protection (i know they have helmets but it would be a vibe)
lots of little add ons kind of clipped to him (arms, wrists, legs etc.) for different things like smoke bombs or whatever else, he could carry anything the mission requires
personally i would have given him super cool gloves/gauntlets with multiple functions. like imagine if he could weld with just his hand (much like how shiro used his arm to weld a door shut)
i also think he would have tinkered with his jetpack and boosters, maybe upgraded their power so he could move faster or more efficiently
perhaps he upgrades his armor for more protection, much like the yellow lion being the most armoured
eventually i think he’d integrate his BoM suit into his paladin suit, having a more advanced stealth mode than the others simply because it’s Blade Mode
the Blade suit was black/purple so any add ons would create more variation in his overall colours & tie in with his role as black paladin
hood is required i loved the hood on the blade suit
overall keith blends Altean and Galran designs, tech, and weapons, adding more Galran elements as he embraces his heritage (i wish we'd seen him dual wield his sword and blade...)
i do not know the benefits of having your shoulders out as a sharpshooter but for ME i would like him in more of a cut off style of armor to show off his arms lol
i also think he could have had some kind of eyewear like glasses or a lens situation to help with precision aiming or locking onto targets
i think it would be interesting if he wore less armor than the others to keep his flexibility in tact. it would be a calculated risk on his part, perfect for angsty and tense plots as well!
DRONES ! rover was so useful why wouldn’t pidge make her own drones instead of constantly hacking and leaving others ???
she also used hologram technology often so i think she would constantly be upgrading her own suit and maybe even figuring out a ghost mode to remain undetected
i would also love for pidge to have been given the olkari nature headband and include it as part of her ensemble. then she could continue to interact with nature and connect with her lion’s element
i wish her paladin suit kept elements of her original flight suit and reflected her status as the princess more
keeping pink as her main paladin colour, but adding blue elements like her first flight suit + tie her into the blue lion would have been great
+ gold accents !!!!! she’s literally a princess
in my own personal lore rewrite, crystals have a lot more importance and abilities, so it would be cool to integrate crystals into each suit design but mainly allura’s to tie in her quintessence powers
specifically crystals placed at key points like her wrists/hands and over her chest/heart to emphasize her magical abilities and where they stem from
i still haven’t entirely figured shiro out yet. there’s so many factors + the distinction between shiro and kuron. honestly, i’m still stuck on what his hypothetical bayard form would be lol
however, he is extremely versatile, so i don’t think he’d have too many add ons. much like lance, he could also wear a little less armor to keep his movements unhindered
