I'm giving it all she's got boss
Hot take but rigid divisions between queer identities and heavily-policed labels that are treated like diagnoses are really, really bad.
Trans men have shared histories with lesbians who have shared histories with bisexual women who have shared histories with ace people who have shared histories with aro people have shared histories with gay men who have shared histories with trans women who have shared histories with nonbinary people who have shared histories with etc etc etc etc etc.
Labels are important for people who want them, but we need to stop treating sexuality and gender as rigid boxes and checklists.

cordelia is actually so funny to me. buffy pins her to the wall and holds a sharp stick to her face and she's like "oh my god what's wrong with you" . buffy trips and a bunch of weapons (ball and chain flail, weirdly shaped knife, wooden stakes) + a pretty sizable cross fall out of her backpack and she's just like "what a weirdo 🙄" queen of not giving a fuck honestly
the looming spectre of yaoi is enough but lesbian sex has to literally happen onscreen. Just another thing black sails got perfectly right
ill be honest my post was half a joke about how i like seeing lesbians sex on tv because im a lesbian and half a genuine jab at how most shows cower at the prospect of having to portray adult queer womens sexualities beyond the pg 13 wlw girlkisser yearning bullshit that so many people love. but also Suppose i believe in the argument that some shows and movies have evil lesbian sex scenes made for men and thus should be rejected. should we wait until the day men are unable to fetishize lesbians to be allowed to see grown women being sexual in movies and shows? that will unfortunately literally never happen. Then i also did literally mention black sails and to me the lesbian relationships in black sails are so far from what a man with a lesbian sex fetish would fantasize about that i cant even imagine how someone would justify thinking that their sex scenes are for the male viewer. but if this is a genuine question i will try to answer it
Strictly talking about the canon the queer women from black sails are living completely different lives than the queer men and these differences explain why the narrative supports them and not flint and thomas to be fucking onscreen. Max starts out as a sex worker and for the majority of the show continues working at the brothel (later even sleeping with one of the girls which despite the brevity is also narratively a critical moment for obvious reasons). eleanor not only is romantically involved with max while shes a sex worker but also wrt optics gets benefits out of publicly being sexual the way a man would as the resident Boss (see her explicit jokes, the way she flaunts calling max up etc). anne we already meet as a pirate. Jack has her loyalty and jacks is all she has to lose. her gender & sexuality are being untangled simultaneously through the contrast and juxtaposition of her relationships with jack and with max. The unambiguity of all of their intimate scenes is suitable for the characters contexts and the respective narrative operations they serve are improved by it. the exact opposite is true for flint and thomas. The major tragedy in their relationship was precisely that they had to hide it and how dangerous being found out was for the lives they were living. Shame is clearly, textually, a key component of flints character and the unfulfilling quality of his sexual life in the present reflects that. thomas' "death" causes a suspension in his directive that flint knows no shame, and the pain caused by it culminates in the suppression of his sexuality which is why hes either not having any sex or having dysfunctional sex. basically what i mean is if straight male viewers enjoyed how that all turned out who gaf... its exactly how it has to be
i was born in the absolute RIGHT generation if i had to have children i would KILL MY SELF!!!!

so crazy to me that mormons aren’t embarrassed about their whole deal even a little bit. they’ll gladly tell strangers that they’re a member of the lds church as if that isn’t one of the single most incriminating and humiliating things to be in the entire world.
the thing about nonfiction is you come out of it with several more books to put on your to be read list and it's only gonna branch out from there so really the only solution is to read every book in human history starting at the beginning
