used to think it terribly silly (and kinda funny) when fantasy or sci-fi stories would have people refer to major recent historical events as The Flood or The Incident or The Revolution, and im sure historians fucking hate that because it's not helpful or descriptive, but we sure do be calling it The Pandemic

Also the new linguistic quirk of just saying “it was 2020” as like. The full end of a story. You say “it was 2020” and everyone knows what you mean.

“I was going to get my masters degree but then it was 2020, so yeah”

“I was cast in a play and then it was 2020”

“my boyfriend proposed but then it was 2020”

One of my favorite things about learning Japanese is realizing that textbook Japanese and everyday Japanese can feel surprisingly different (•ิᴗ•ิ)

Have you ever finished a lesson, watched anime, and thought...

"Wait... why isn't anyone talking like my textbook?" (・_・;)

Most textbooks teach desu/masu form first because it's polite and works almost everywhere. It's perfect for talking to teachers, coworkers, customers, or someone you've just met.

But when you're chatting with friends, people usually switch to dictionary form because it sounds much more natural.

For example:

食べます (tabemasu) → polite

食べる (taberu) → casual

Instead of saying:

"Tabemasu ka?"

A friend is much more likely to ask:

"Taberu?"

Same meaning. Just shorter and more relaxed (´꒳`)♡

Another thing is that in casual conversations, people often drop desu after i-adjectives.

おいしいです → polite

おいしい！ → casual

Tiny change, but it makes a big difference in how natural you sound (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ

Disney + is insane, I wonder if it’s still going to be produced overseas like they are talking about. It’s for sure got to be a high quality production if Disney is going to have it though

I also wonder if it is on Disney + if it’s going to lead to a lot of people like entering the fandom? If I see one fight in 2 years about canon designs I’m going to lose it 😭

I think the read core is that I’ll probably never be happy with a warrior cat show unless I get to work on it a little bit LOL my fomo will be unmatched
