ADORABLE. WHOLESOME. Where do I even start?!

I love the parallel and contrast to Cecil confessing to Heronia: while both scenes happen on a balcony, his confession to Heronia happens in the evening/darkness whereas his confession to Bertia happens during twilight, in the light of day;

I love the use of little lights scatteted all over as he kisses her (same as when he hugged Heronia after confessing);

I love Cecil's frank 'I love you too' and 'I am completely hopeless'. Coupled with how gently he says those lines and the warm look on his face, it's such a romantic moment ❤️;

I love how he's used otome game terminology to reframe Bertia's role from villainess to his heroine, calling himself a target for her to capture while also claiming her as his maiden of destiny

I love that Tia won't stand for Cecil thinking the worse of himself, insisting upon his qualities and how she loves him.

As for Cecil's 'it's possible I haven't quite become completely human' line: while it is true (as his attachment to Tia is the bulk of what drove his growth so far, and what will drive him to improve himself and the kindgom), the fact he's cognizant of this is already a big step forward (and a big change from the other timelines' Cecil). One has to know their bad traits if one wishes to correct them or at least curb their effects.

If I had one nickel for every blond apathetic genius creating gun powder (and being the absolute worst kind of person in the world to make such a discovery because of their aforementioned apathy), I'd have two nickels. Which isn't much, but it's weird that it happened twice

Great show of introspection on Cecil's end. I'm also pleasantly surprised that despite his irritation with Bertia's cagey behavior (about her reasons to pair him up with Heronia), he chose to focus on her reasons and to remember her actions as acts of kindness

Ooo I love the use of colored frames to indicate whose route is being shown. The frames, as an anime-version of a game UI, serve as a reminder that what is shown are scenes from the original otome game Bertia played. Plus, they give off the feeling of watching a movir... which is doubly fitting considering this is esentially Bertia telling Cecil about possible outcomes/endings he could have met outside of his route, describing 'a movie' of his life.

What a change of attitude from Cecil — while he used to be amused by Bertia's villainess antics and entertained them (drawing the line at being paired with Heronia), you could tell part of him was still a bit skeptic about Bertia's end goal and not completely on board. Yet now, after realizing his love for her and how much an impact meeting her had on his life, his nonchalance is replaced by seriousness and levity.

He doesn't get frustrated or call out Bertia's stubborness in refusing to confide in him. Rather, he expresses that he can't understand her worries unless she explains herself, and tries to reassure her that the one fear she mentioned (that he wouldn't care about the kingdom or anyone) is undue and why. I love how calm and clear he is, while also being gentle and showing empathy for Bertia's struggles.

Essentially a 'it's you and I VS the problem'

Man, imagine Cecil just waking up from a psychological nightmare where his emotions were forcefully stripped from him and he was forcefed memories of an alternate timeline where he fell in love with another woman instead of the fiancée he loves, and first thing he's confronted with is his beloved fiancée about to shave herself bald and join a convent.

What a wild scene to wake up to lmao

Bertia and Cecil are truly a match in heaven because if you take their significant other away, they fall apart (albeit in different ways, Bertia's being more dramatic lmao)

This was such a good scene!! I loved how it illustrated Cecil's growth and maturity ('That makes even my heart hurt just a little'), starting as a cold detached child — one who couldn't understand why his father was torn over being unable to help his friend heal his wife — and growing into a calm young man, one who could sympathize with Pii's desire to help Heronia and make her happy at all costs (even at the cost of his own existence). I love how he firmly shut Pii down ('I'm sorry, but I can't do that'), but still showed gentleness in the way he carried out Pii's last wish + tried to preserve a piece of Pii so that Heronia can have physical/tangible proof of his existence.

Grumble grumble as much as I hate this (otome game!Cecil/Heronia), I do have to admit this is a really cute confession scene (whatwith the strings playing in the background, the moonlight balcony setting, the light particles falling like snow, and the voice acting) grumble grumble
