It hurts/ Execution reaction/ Open/ Zinaida / Chapter 3
Mei hurried after Zinaida, the pitter patter of her feet echoing in the hallway. Upon reaching her, fingers intertwined with the otherâs, choosing to ignore the mumble of Russian she had exhaled.
âAre you alright?â
Yet again, they both had had a rough night.
Zinaida looked up in surprise as fingers were intertwined with hers, but she gave Meiâs hand a gentle squeeze, and nodded silently before replying.
âYeah. Iâm okay. Aimiâs decision was..dumb, but it hurts the most I think to not be forgiven by Toshi. I mean, I know I questioned him, but I didnât push the issue too hard once I realized my mistake..â
She shook her head, Zinaida underneath all of that official posturing and rehearsed formality seemed maybe a little unfamiliar with direct interpersonal relationships.
âHow are you holding up, Ashikaga-san?â
"I'm fine, at least, now." She chuckled grimly, wiping her puffy eyes with her forearm. "How many times will we have to ask each other that question? Until there's no one left?"
She sighed, her gaze directed back upwards at her friend. "I'm sorry about my brashness at the trial. I was just worried, you know?"

It hurts/ Execution reaction/ Open/ Zinaida / Chapter 3
Zinaida left the elevator in a hurry, strolling all the way back to her room at a quick pace before turning, and settling her back against the door. She bit a knuckle on her left hand, while her right supported her leftâs elbow, eyes looking back and forth.
She had accused Toshi, admittedly along a valid line of reasoning since she knew the âmoldâ in his watch was most definitely poison. She had experienced this herself, and his lies were angering her, but his lack of forgiveness was hurting her even more. She had considered him a close friend, and yet here he was, totally denying her any forgiveness. Sure she had put some pressure on him, but she had realized her mistake early on.
This was starting to frustrate her. Aimiâs death was upsetting, yes, but she had braced herself for it this time and Aimi had been idiotic, killing someone for the good of the team, what a farce, it dampened her feelings towards Aimi to say the very least.
âĐŃдакâ She grimaced. âĐĐžŃĐľĐźŃ ĐžĐ˝ но ĐżŃĐžŃŃĐ¸Ń ĐźĐ˝Đľâ

Again? Really?/ Hachiro \ Open
âSo someone else is dead?â Hachiro muttered, crossing his arms and slowly shaking his head. âWell this is greatâŚ. Canât say I didnât see it coming but, really?â he sighed, running a hand through his hair.
It looked like he was going to have to investigate now. And in the AI room too boot⌠Whyâd it have to be the AI room? The thought of his dead classmates watching him was creepy enough and now heâd have to be around a dead body with them.Â
âThis is just perfectâŚâ He let out an audible groan, slouching over a bit. He was not looking forward to this.
Mei nodded in agreement; she hadnât been standing too far away from him when she heard his complaining. She wasnât one for avid griping, but she just happened to agree with him this time.
She approached him, hands resting in her apronâs pocket.
âIt was coming, though. Apparently, nobody can control themselves; at least, not anymore.â
A game of mystery/Chapter 3/Open
âYeah, Iâm doing better, Iâve mostly recovered. How are you doing, Ashikaga-san?â
Zinaidaâs hand snaked down to gently pat and squeeze the other girlâs shoulder reassuringly.
âStill in shock? Or beginning to recover?â
âIâm.. not quite sure. Iâm better than I was, though! Itâs good Iâve reached some kind of improvement.â
A game of mystery/Chapter 3/Open
âNo.â Zinaida said bluntly, in response to the thoughts on evidence. âBut it might help us figure out if any of us might have motive to lock all of us up in an airship.â
Zinaida looked excited, as if she was hoping one of these envelopes would have a truth that might point them in the right direction. âYou never know, might be a few hints hiding in there with the lies.â
She leaned back down all the way to peer at Meiâs envelope again.
âWell, your decision to open it or not, but I know if those were my secrets Iâd want you to open them up out here. I prefer to know who knows my secrets over just having to guess. I wonât tell you which ones are right and which ones are wrong though.â
âI donât know, it just feels... weird. Thanks for the input, though! It does help ease my fears a bit, not that I had many.â
She sighed, looking back upward to Zinaida with a dull smile.
âHow are you doing? Better, I hope.â
You Donât Wanna Know / Hachiro \ Open
âNot to mention stupid as hell. Why would anyone flip out over their secrets being reveal along with two lies? No one knows what your real secret is. So itâs still a secret, yâknow?â he shrugged.
âI donât even care what mine is but whatever the hell it is no oneâs gonna know itâs real either way. So like⌠how is that supposed to motivate me?â he shrugged once again, crossing his arms over his chest.
âIf that bear really wanted to freak us out he wouldâve just straight up told our secrets. I canât believe Iâm actually accusing a stuffed bear of going soft.â
âI suppose youâre right,â she sighed, bringing the paper to her pocket. âI might open it later in private. How about yours, though, Hachiro-san? I hope you didnât receive anything too unsettling. N-not that Iâm trying to be nosy!â
She waved her hands about in front of her, hoping to ease any odd or harsh thoughts he might be having.
A game of mystery/Chapter 3/Open
Zinaida blinked a bit at the sound, then looked down to find Mei of all people leaning against the sofa. Zinaida couldnât help but smile seeing the familiar girl.
âAh, hello there Ashikaga-san.â She peered down at the closed envelope, then raised an eyebrow. âArenât you going to open that? Itâs important information to know. I mean, it might breach privacy, but really, what use is privacy up here on the airship? Itâs not like it is easy to decode which are lies and which one is truth anyway.â
âTrue, but... will it ever change anything? If anyone does kill, would the secret matter in evidence? The secrets arenât exactly murder weapons.â
âIâm sorry, I got carried away.â
Her eyes met the envelope once more, her thumb tracing the edges. She was trying to let the situation marinate back in; it had been hard, after last week, but it was getting better.
You Donât Wanna Know / Hachiro \ Open
Hachiro had grabbed his envelope off the floor, walking off a bit to read it. He leaned against a wall, ripping it open to see a name he hadnât expected. âDamn⌠I donât wanna even know which one of these is the truth and which ones are the liesâŚâ he mumbled, shoving the paper into his jacket pocket.Â
Maybe he oughta talk to him about it⌠then again he could just not. Itâs not as if he really cared about this dumb motive and he didnât really wanna have to go out of his way to talk to him of all people.
âThat bear is really running outta ideas, isnât he?â he muttered, glancing over at someone still in the room with him. âSeriously, does he think weâre supposed to care about this?â he asked, raising an eyebrow in question.
Mei had been staring at her envelope almost intensely until she heard Hachiroâs statement. It startled her a bit, him calling out to her like that. She lifted her head, placing her glasses back on top of her head, embarrassed that he had caught her so focused. How could she not be, when thinking whether or not to open the envelope? It just... felt so wrong.
âYouâre undoubtedly right: it does seem a bit desperate to resort to personal secrets.â
A game of mystery/Chapter 3/Open
Zinaida had scooped up her envelope, and found a spot to sit nearby in one of the lounge chairs. She opened the folded piece of paper and began to scan the contents, eyebrows raising as she did.
âHmm..Which one of these is the truth, Kiku-san?â She muttered to herself, rereading over the details to try and determine if any of them had anything to set it apart.
Well, the one that said âKiku loves Toshi Amanekai.â Was, from her guessing, probably not true? She shouldnât dismiss that so quickly though, just in case?
All the same, relaxing on the sofa as she was, she looked particularly open to other people sitting down to discuss with her.
Mei had noticed Zinaida flock toward the sofa to open her âgiftâ. It made her highly uncomfortable to know that Monokuma somehow had access to things the most personal to them. She shook her head solemnly, trying to take her mind off of it. She sat on the floor next to the sofa, resting her back against it.
She rubbed her slender fingers on the envelope. It just... felt so wrong to open them. All of them. How could anyone be so cruel? Though... in a place like this, could you risk not knowing?
Meiâs gaze wandered up to Zinaida, smiling halfheartedly at her remark.Â
âYou certainly canât rule it out.â
âArenât we all imitations though? The memories of your friends, provided for you to talk to, even after theyâre gone, Volkov-shi? you can stay here and talk to anyone, and everyone, even after theyâre gone! Itâs marvelous! Ryuu-chan, Chihiro-san, Hotaruko-san, the list goes on and on!. I am Asumu Ryuu, or whatever is left of her.â
