what do they consider their worst habit?
| Character development questions | Accepting
His worst habit?
It's definitely mulling over the past. He even knows that he is guilty of it, that it is something he shouldn't do but he does. Something that sets him into a terrible headspace, yet he can't quite help it. When the sun disappears and he finds himself alone, nothing to busy himself with, that is when it gets it's worst. Replaying scenarios over and over in his head - wondering what he could have done differently. If perhaps he would still be close to Shen if he had. If he could have happiness if he hadn't thrown himself off into the deep end.
He wonders if he could have saved more people. If he could have prevented more deaths if he had just found Jhin sooner. If he could have navigated the Noxus invasion better to save more people. To stop more brutality and bloodshed from happening.
These are things that, honestly, aren't his burden to handle. And yet - he carries the weight on his shoulders. Perhaps that is his worst habit. Believing that he could change things that are out of his control. Wanting to have done things better to prevent what happened from happening. He can't seem to get rid of the past, to let it go. Wishing constantly that he could fix it. That he could change things.
That I would say is his worst habit. And it is something that he knows is a horrible habit too. Yet, he cant seem to break it.
The sight of blooming nature, flora, and fauna going hand in hand with each other, was somewhat strange. It was unusual to be able to breathe in deeply without feeling a stinging sensation in your lungs, worrying if this was finally enough chemicals in the air to make you bite the dust. Polly never felt more overwhelmed by... well, everything. How could there be a place so welcoming, yet wild? If it wasn’t for her being sleep-deprived from the long journey overseas, she could swear even the pebbles on the ground are alive.
The grassy road lead her close to the edge of one of many forests. The woman pulls out a barely readable map, almost destroyed by her careless handling. “The heck...” A breathless mumble as she stares at the paper, her eyes squinting, trying to read the language she was not familiar with. Annoyed, she leans against a large, mossy rock, her free hand reaching for the pack of cigarettes in her pocket. Please don’t be too wet...
With the stick between her lips and one, prominent clack, the tip is glooming. Polly takes her time, relaxing as she tries to continue making out what these strange letters mean. After all, she just wanted to go anywhere near civilization. Her mentor left her without any trace. If the young assassin was lucky enough, spotting him out will be the easiest part of this journey.
In a moment of distraction, her eyes dart up from her map. Was that fortune? Or was that something, she would regret in the end, this encounter. He looked somewhat intriguing, his voice was sharp, definitely a guy who was not going to be patient, a guy who was only interested in facts. After she takes some seconds to take in his body language, an interested hum tickles her throat. Polly was going to take the safe approach. At first. If there was one thing she learned from her time in Piltover, it was that if you do not have the higher ground, be an observer... until you have.
“Guilty as charged.” She waves, a friendly gesture, the woman was testing the waters. “I am a traveler, you call it that - right? Maybe you can help me translate this pretty little map here?” The sarcasm in her voice only underlines the impatience she had with this stupid piece of paper.
It had been clear from her clueless gestures alone that she was a traveler. The entire point of Zed stating that of her was because he was trying to gauge what kind of person she was based off of her answer. She could have chosen to lie to say she was a native here. Or to come up with any other excuse that would pin her as knowing what she was doing when he knew that she clearly didn't. Of course, that had been what he had expected. Most did not like others poking around and prodding in their business. So he was fully prepared to let he know he saw through her lies.
Of course, that had not been the case.
No - instead she owned up to it. Even played it off with that wave of her hand. He could not tell what game she was playing at - especially with that next remark. The sarcasm and impatient manner she seemed to be in made Zed question just what she was trying to find. What she was looking for. His gaze flickered from her to the map that she held. Clearly she had a purpose to be here - she was not here to sight see. Nobody who was here to wander around would be so annoyed with being unable to figure out a map.
But, he could play at this game, whatever it was. He would get what he wanted to know out of her one way or another. So he would oblige. He would play along. It was only the smart thing to do. If he wanted to get information out of her, he would have to play along and give information as well. It would be of no stakes to him if she was simply wanting directions.
" I suppose I can. " His tone was surprisingly flat. Little to no inflection on how he was feeling in it. With that he would move closer to her, moving to lean against the same rock that she stood by. He reached out his hand, as though asking for her to hand over the map without saying it.
" What exactly are you looking for? "
do they celebrate any holidays? what are the celebrations like? do they have a favorite? (switch this with birthday)
| Character development questions | Accepting
Birthdays were something that Zed never really celebrated. His mother could never afford to do or get him anything for his birthday. To him, it was always another day. There was a part of him though that envied the other kids he had seen in his village. He sometimes would overhear them talking about what they got for their birthdays. Or what their parents did for it. It kind of made him a little bit bitter about the whole thing.
I think as he got older and joined the Kinkou, it really wasn't something celebrated there either. When he was part of their order, it was always training. Things were always serious. He never really found it worth mentioning either. Things were always busy there, between training and actual field missions … there just wasn't time.
Although… I do like the idea of when him and Shen were really close, maybe Shen finding out about it being Zed's birthday and even if it was just something small. Like getting him a nice plate of food or something. I think - if that were to be the case, it was something that kind of stuck with Zed. Something that he holds close to his heart even to this day.
I also do like the idea of perhaps, the same thing kind of happens with Kayn. After taking him in and raising him, I think Zed likes to celebrate every year on the day he brought him in. Not quite a birthday so to speak - but a adoption day kind of thing for Kayn. And I really like the idea of.. perhaps with him doing this for Kayn, as Kayn got older … and he finds out about Zed's birthday, actually doing something for him. That would be something that Zed would hold close to his heart as well.
It isn't something he regularly celebrates. But any time someone close to him were to do something for it … he really does appreciate it. Even if its just something simple as making him a meal / buying him a meal. Or just a simple little token of appreciation. Those few times i think - are some of the happiest he has had. But he will not go out of his way to celebrate them or make a big deal of them, just because it is something he never had growing up.

Unlike the tales he had heard, the city was far from it. Had it not been for the way magic itself seemed to ooze from the land, Zed would have believed himself to have been in the wrong place. But there was something about it that struck his very core. A gut feeling that told him this was where he was supposed to be. That the very energy that was radiating from the ruins was exactly what he had been looking for. His steps were careful as he moved himself around the outskirts of the ruins. His gaze flicking over the creatures that resided within it trying to gauge the best way to go about this.
They were unlike most things he had seen before. Made of pure energy - magical essence their very being. It was oddly familiar to the clones he created with his own magic. But it was different. They were no mere mimics using dark magic that were controlled by a living being. They themselves were the living beings. It made him curious how such things came about to be. But there were many things in these lands that should not be - and yet they existed and thrived. It was no surprise to him that these things managed to survive though. They were certainly a threat despite their worker like movements. It would be best to stay hidden for now.
His steps through the ruins were calculated, trying to stick to the shadows and keep himself hidden best he could while he searched for any being that may be out of place. That may seem to be stronger than the others. He knew he was looking for a magical energy being, but other than that he had nothing to go off of. So it seemed he would have to investigate and do a bit of slinking around to try and find the answers he wanted.
And as though some unseen all powerful force had known what he was searching for his head snapped up at the sound of something commanding the others. His gaze flickered to find the source of it, and finally settled on the massive energetic being. The chains that bound him seeming to be the only thing holding his form together. A part of Zed wondered that if it were not for that metal that the energetic force would be chaotic and out of control. A volatile force that would be unstoppable if unbound.
That seemed to be what - or rather who he was looking for.
Zed began to move closer. Settled on his goal now as he moved, avoiding the energy pulsating from the land. And then he found himself freezing in his steps as the being turned its attention toward him. He wasn’t sure how but it had picked up on his presence. Something that he was quite impressed with. It was not often that others could sense his approach, that they could tell where he was before he was in their personal space. His mind mulled over the ways to approach this as he felt that gaze from the being boreing into him. One wrong move, and he feared that his journey here may be for nothing.
So he chose to speak - “ I come seeking answers. About the Darkin. About Rhaast. ” He could only hope that this was who he had been seeking, and that the ancient being had the answers he was searching for.
Murderous intent filled Xerath’s thralls as they surrounded the newcomer. It seemed as though they were all ready to unleash their power on Zed the instant their god gave the command. The only reason he hadn’t yet was because, despite this man being a trespasser, the Magus was genuinely somewhat impressed the stranger managed to get this far undetected. His very essence seemed to be composed of pure darkness, and yet he somehow kept it contained...
Then the man spoke, and while the self-proclaimed deity lacked a proper face with which to convey surprise, what he said certainly caught Xerath off-guard. “Rhaast?” Xerath waved his hand, and the murderous intent of his followers seemed to lessen as they backed off. “Explain yourself. Who are you, and for what purpose do you seek the Darkin? If you desire power, then you will not find it with those pitiful failures.”
To assume that Zed was composed of pure, contained darkness would be a correct assumption. His very being had been altered and changed the day that he had given in to the shadow magic that had granted him his powers. The forbidden technique that none would dare to use. One would say that perhaps he didn't quite have a hold of his magic when he used it - but rather it had a hold of him. That he was at it's will. Of course, were anyone to spout such things to him he would deny it without a second thought. No - he was a being of shadow, one that was perhaps more shadow magic than man depending on his state of mind. But he was in control, he kept it under wraps for his own sake.
Bringing up the Darkin wasn't something that he expected to make the energetic being call off his followers. But Zed was relieved that it had been. He wasn't looking to fight his way out of this, and honestly he wasn't sure if he would be able to. He had assessed the situation and figured he had somewhat okay fighting chances, but he was outnumbered and knew it was best to talk his way out of this rather than fight his way out of it.
A shake of his head at that. No - he did not seek power. Although he was intrigued by the wording used. Pitiful failures. A brow raised, and he took a half step closer to the energetic being. He would not move any closer than that though, not wanting to come off as a threat in any manner.
" I do not seek their power. " He assured, waving his hand slightly as though to dismiss that thought. " I come seeking knowledge, I know that man who … works with …. Rhaast. " Perhaps it wasn't the best way to put it. But he wasn't quite sure what else to call it. A parasite? " I have seen the destruction his weapon can bring. What do you know of it? "
What's their love language?

Zed is big on words of affirmation and physical touch. I think he wouldn't care too much about spending a ton of time around his significant other, mostly because he has his own duties that he has to attend to, and figures that his partner would have things of their own that they need to do. So he wouldn't be too set on having to be around them all the time, or have them around all the time. He's an independent man, he can be okay alone - he's had to be okay with it for as long as he can remember.
Now when it comes to words of affirmation though? I think that would be the biggest one. Zed has a lot of pent up things that he refuses to acknowledge. A big one being that he's used to people he cares about leaving. Hell - his father left, him and Shen fell apart. He's lost most people that he's cared about , people that he was attached to. I think a really big thing for him would be his partner confirming that he's not going to be left again. That he is worthy of love. That he is doing the best he can. That he is okay - that his nightmares, his flashbacks won't hurt him anymore. That he survived and will continue to.
As far as physical touch well… he is incredibly touch starved. It's something that he craves but will never admit to. Something that deep down he really wants. He wants someone that he can lean on when things get bad. Someone that will rub his back to calm him down when things get too overwhelming. Someone who will show him how much they adore him. He's a softie underneath his hard exterior.

The voice had been something that had caught Zed off guard. He had been traversing the streets of Zaun with what he believed was a preciseness that would result in him not being spotted by anyone. For the most part, it had been working out. He had been fine with how he moved throughout the alleyways and slums of the Undercity. Not once had he been spotted by anyone. Not that most would be paying much mind to someone that looked like he did. It seemed that most down here kept to their own business - something that made his job easier. He did not like being interrupted when he was trying to track someone down.
And yet - he had just been.
Turning on his heels, his gaze flickered to the man that had addressed him. He had never met him before - and couldn't quite tell if he was human or not. The people he had ran into down here had been… either mutated or part machine, for the most part. Eyes narrowed slightly as he tried to discern whether or not this one was a threat.
" That is none of your concern. " He retorted, shifting his stance slightly, as though preparing for anything that may happen.
