Umbra was born 31 years ago when a graphic designer by the name of Paul Rowan couldn't find a nice window shade to hang in his new apartment window. So, he made one. And others liked it! He soon teamed up with friend Les Mandelbaum...and Umbra was born. It was from this first product that Umbra got its name - 'umbra' means 'shade' in Latin. Since that time, Umbra has grown to become the world leader of innovative, modern, casual and affordable design for the home.

Biblioteca Bookshelf

Design: Matt Carr Carr found inspiration when he found two vintage coffee tables. Creating a bookrack for his own home. He configured them ingeniously to give these tables a new life as bookshelves. This design is now recreated with a mahogany natural top and black lacquered legs.

DESIGN: Dennis Cheng "The OTTO pump was designed to offer a soft inviting form to make the technological side of an automatic pump more approachable. Inspired by carafes and beautifully shaped pitchers; this pump was created to capture a fluid gesture. Shield Wall Mirror

DESIGN: ALAN WISNIEWSKI Inspired by the shape of the family crest, this large-scale beveled mirror is set parallel from the wall, casting a natural shadow and adding dimension. SHIELD hangs by a large saw tooth hanger mounted on a solid walnut block at top and held in position by another walnut block at bottom.
