Vindo ao Brasil com três shows, Porto Alegre 28/07 @El Toro, São Paulo 29/07 @Jai Club e Curitiba 30/07 @John Bull, para celebrar 10 anos do álbum “Rise or Die Trying” a banda Four Year Strong nos concedeu uma entrevista e falamos sobre álbum novo, realizações da banda e claro, sua vinda ao Brasil! Confira: *A entrevista em inglês estará no final caso alguém queira* 

 Respondido pelo cantor e guitarrista Dan O'Connor. 

WAF: Quais são as expectativas para o novo álbum? Vocês já tem algo em mente? 

Dan: Nós não começamos a trabalhar ainda porque estamos fazendo todos os shows da RODT este ano. Nós teremos algo divertido no Outono, não um disco normal mas mantenha seus olhos abertos. 

WAF: Vocês estão vindo celebrar os 10 anos do álbum “Rise or Die Trying” no Brasil, qual influência os fãs brasileiros tiveram durante esse tempo? 

Dan: Bem, nós tivemos uma turnê no Brasil em 2012 e foi maravilhoso, estamos muitos animados para voltar. 

WAF: Qual foi a maior conquista como banda que vocês já tiveram? 

Dan: Só o fato de ainda podermos de fazer uma turne pelo mundo e fazer shows para os nossos fãs mesmo depois de todo esse tempo é uma conquista. Nós somos muito sortudos por manter essa banda por tanto tempo. 

WAF: Quais são suas expectativas para voltar ao Brasil? 

Dan: Eu mal posso esperar pelos shows! Na última vez nos tivemos ótimos momentos conhecendo nossos fãs e tocando os shows. Eu acho que vai ser ainda melhor este ano. 

WAF: Após 16 anos, como vocês mantém a essência da banda viva em fazer álbuns e shows como se fosse a primeira vez? 

Dan: Nós fazemos isso porque amamos, quando estamos escrevendo novas musicas, essa é a motivação. Nós podemos facilmente dizer que estamos fartos e irmos para casa e viver vidas normais mas iriamos sentir muita falta disso tudo. Isso é o que faz a banda continuar, nós sabemos que somos sortudos e não temos como concedido. 

WAF: Vocês poderiam dizer que a banda está na melhor fase?

Dan: Nós podemos dizer que nos conhecemos mais agora do que antes, e temos um melhor entendimento o que faz os fãs felizes e o que nos faz ficar musicalmente satisfeitos. 

WAF: Como vocês acham que a música de vocês podem afetar a vida de alguém? 

Dan: Essa é uma grande pergunta. Nós sempre esperamos que as pessoas sejam capazes de se conectar com as nossas músicas em um nível pessoal. Alguns mais que os outros, realmente se acham na música. Se alguém pode escutar uma música que nós escrevemos sobre a nossa vida e encontrar conforto, clareza e conexão, é maravilhoso. É isso que faz a música incrível. ___________________________________________ 

WAF: What are the expectations for the new album? Do you have any ideas in mind? 

Dan: We haven’t started working on a new full length yet because we are doing all the RODT shows this year. We will have something fun out in the Fall, not a normal record but keep your eyes open. 

WAF: You are coming to celebrate 10 years of the album “Rise or Die Trying” in Brazil, which influence the Brazilian fans had during that time? 

Dan: Well we did one tour in Brazil in 2012 and that was awesome, so we’re very excited to return. 

WAF: What was the biggest achievement as a band you have ever achieved? 

Dan: Just the fact that we are still able to tour the world and play shows for our fans after all this time is an achievement. We’re very fortunate to have been able to keep this band going for so long. 

WAF: What are your expectations to return to Brazil?

Dan: I can’t wait for the shows, last time we had such a great time meeting fans and playing the shows. I expect it’ll be even better this time. 

WAF: After 16 years, how do you keep the essence of the band alive to continue making albums and tours as if it were your first time?

Dan: We do this because we love it, when we are writing new songs, that’s the motivation. We could easily say we’re done, and stay home and live normal lives but we would miss it too much. That’s what keeps us going, we know how lucky we are and don’t take it for granted. 

WAF: Would you say that the band is at its best phase?

Dan: I think we know who we are better than any other time, and have a better understanding of what it takes for our fans to be happy and what it takes for us to also be musically satisfied. 

WAF: How do you think that your songs can affect someone’s life?

Dan: That’s a big question. We always hope that people are able to connect to our songs on a personal level. Some more than others, really find themselves represented in the song. If someone can listen to a song that we have written about our lives and find comfort and a clairvoyant connection to there’s, that’s amazing. That’s what makes music incredible.

Nessa entrevista, os membros da banda comentam um pouco sobre como é o processo de composição de novo material, as expectativas pra essa turnê e como eles se sentem em relação a voltar aos palcos após o hiatus ocorrido entre 2007 e 2015. 

Much The Same é uma banda americana de Punk Rock fundada em 1999, a banda possui 2 álbuns de estúdio e 1 EP na carreira e conta com grande influencia de bandas como Lagwagon, NOFX e No Use For a Name. We Are Fearless: Quais são suas expectativas para essa turnê?

Franky Tsoukalas: Recebemos muitas mensagens ao longo dos anos, mesmo depois que inicialmente nos separamos para vir para a América do Sul. Parece que a América do Sul tem uma comunidade próspera de Skate Punk, então estamos ansiosos para tocar para pessoas que parecem ter a mesma paixão por esse estilo de música que nós temos.

WAF: Como é o processo de composição do novo material e onde você obtêm inspiração para isso?

Franky: Muitas músicas novas vieram do Dan e de suas experiências pessoais nos últimos anos. É assim que todos nesta banda sempre escreveram. Toda música que já escrevemos, não importa quem escreveu, sempre veio de um lugar pessoal e honesto. As músicas de Dan, que compõem a maioria das novas músicas, realmente contam uma história de como ele tem sido nos últimos anos. Ele escreveu uma grande quantidade de música em “Survive” e agora adicionou melodias e letras para sua habilidade de composição definida com essas novas músicas. Eu acho que as pessoas realmente ficarão impressionadas e felizes com a direção que ele levou o som … é melódico e rápido pra caralho. Familiar mas com algumas diferenças.

Dan: A composição para nós sempre foi um esforço colaborativo, enquanto alguém costuma liderar liricamente e meio que dita em que direção eles querem a música, mas todos nós temos uma parte no processo de composição de músicas à medida que ele se move. Essa dinâmica muda com cada álbum também. “Quitters Never Win” foi liderada por Gunner (Chris), Survive foi dividida entre Jevin e Frank, e como Frank disse, a maioria das novas musicas são meu feito.

Chris: Dan não se dá crédito suficiente, ele escreveu muitas músicas em “Survive”. Eu realmente gosto de quão colaborativa essa banda se tornou, começando com “Survive”. Mesmo que uma pessoa entre com melodia e letras, toda a banda entra e realmente trabalha bem nos arranjos. Às vezes, isso significa que nós reescrevemos algumas partes e às vezes isso significa que nós adicionamos nossa própria coisa a ela.

WAF: Você diria que a banda está em sua melhor fase?

Franky: Eu acho que estamos todos no topo como compositores. Penso que desta vez, sabemos como queremos parecer, mas também não tememos tentar coisas novas. Uma música não tem que ser um Skate Punk para que o som ainda soe como Much The Same, mas ainda temos música Skate Punk rápidas o suficiente para satisfazer a nossa própria necessidade, assim como nossa base de fãs. Estamos escrevendo o que queremos, é bom e ainda soa como nós.

WAF: O que podemos esperar da banda agora? Alguma novidade para o próximo ano?

Franky: Tocaremos quando quisermos tocar. Escreveremos quando pudermos. Eu sei que isso parece uma resposta curta e contundente, mas é o melhor que conseguimos. A prioridade número um é terminar o novo álbum e lançar novas músicas.

Chris: Sim, essa banda é algo em que todos nos sentimos muito apaixonados, mas também todos temos carreiras e famílias que têm prioridade. Nós somos muito afortunados em também poder fazer isso e ainda obter oportunidades como essa, que são realmente difíceis de fazer com as crianças em casa e as responsabilidades no trabalho.

WAF: Como vocês se sentem em voltar aos palcos após o hiatus?

Franky: Nos sentimos ótimos. Nós escrevemos músicas para nos conectar com as pessoas. Sentimo-nos fora de contato com a comunidade punk enquanto estávamos sem tocar. É ótimo ter essa conexão de volta e nos comunicar com todos novamente através da música. Uma música é como uma conversa entre artista e ouvinte. É ótimo redigir músicas novamente e falar com o ouvinte e fazer com que eles se relacionem com o que dizemos ou simplesmente aproveitem a melodia. No final do dia, é a música que nos reúne.

Continuing our series of interviews with the bands of We Are One Tour, this week we talked with the band Much The Same. In this interview, the members of the band comment a little about the process of composing new material, the expectations for this tour and how they feel about going back to the stages after the hiatus that occurred between 2007 and 2015.

Much The Same is an American band of Punk Rock founded in 1999, the band have 2 albums and 1 EP in their career and counts with a huge influence of bands like Lagwagon, NOFX and No Use For a Name. Much The Same comes to Brazil alongside the bands Face to Face, Ignite, The Decline and The Fullblast for the second edition of We Are One Tour that will go through Porto Alegre, Curitiba, São Paulo (with the band PENSE) and Rio de Janeiro .

First of all we would like to say that we are very happy and honored by the opportunity and would like to thank the trust that Solid Music has placed in us and also to the support of all of you!

We Are Fearless: What are your expectations for this tour?  

Franky: We’ve received many messages over the years, even after we initially broke up to come to South America. It seems like South America has a thriving skate punk community, so we’re looking forward to playing for people who seem to have the same passion for this style of music as we do.   

WAF: How is the process of writing and composition of new material and where do you get inspiration for?

Franky: A lot of the new songs have been coming from Dan and his personal experiences over the last few years. That’s how everyone in this band has always written, though. Every song that we’ve ever written, no matter who wrote it, has always come from a personal and honest place. Dan’s songs, which make up the majority of the new songs, really tell a story of where he has been the last few years. He wrote a lot of the music on Survive and has now added melody and lyrics to his songwriting skill set with these new songs. I think people will really be impressed and happy with where he’s taken our sound…it’s melodic and fast as fuck. Familiar but with a couple twists.   

Dan: Songwriting for us has always been a collaborative effort, while someone usually takes the lead lyrically and kind of dictates where they want the song to go, but everyone one of us has a hand in the songwriting process as it moves along.  That dynamic changes with every album, too. Quitters was led by Gunner (Chris), Survive was split between Jevin and Frank, and like Frank said most of the new songs so far are my doing.   

Chris: Dan doesn’t give himself enough credit, he wrote a lot of the music on Survive.  I really like how collaborative this band has become, starting with Survive. Even if one person comes in with music and lyrics, the whole band jumps in and really works together well on the arrangements. Sometimes that will mean we rewrite parts and sometimes it just means we add our own thing to it.

WAF: Would you say that the band is at its best phase?

Franky: I think we’re all at the top of our game as songwriters. I think this time around, we know what we want to sound like, but also are not afraid to try new things. A song doesn’t haven’t to be skate punk fast to still sound like Much The Same, but we still have enough fast skate punk songs to satisfy our own need for them as well as our fanbase. We’re writing what we want, it’s good, and still sounds like us.

WAF: What we can expect from the band now? Any news for this year or next year?  

Franky: We’ll play when we want. We’ll write when we can. I know that sounds like a short blunt answer but it’s the best we got. The number one priority is to finish the record and release new songs.  

Chris: Yeah, this band is something we all feel very passionate about, but we also all have careers and families that take priority. We’re very fortunate to be able to do this "on the side" and still get opportunities like this tour, which are really hard to do with kids at home and responsibilities at work. 

WAF: How do you feel about coming back to the stages after the hiatus? 

Franky: It’s feels great. It feels like home. We wrote songs to connect with people. We felt out of touch with the punk community not playing. It’s great to have that connection back and communicate with everyone again through song. A song is like a conversation between artist and listener. It’s great to write songs again and speak to the listener and have them relate to what we say. Or, just enjoy the melody. At the end of the day, it’s music that brings us together.

We Are Fearless: Quais são suas expectativas para essa turnê?

Ian Stanger: Não temos ideia do que esperar para ser honesto. Paramos de ser uma banda ativamente há cerca de 11 anos, e nunca tivemos a oportunidade de fazer turnês na América do Sul. Com base nos fãs que estamos recebendo no Facebook ao longo dos anos, parece que a América do Sul gosta muito do que fazemos, então eu estou esperando uma multidão energética toda noite cantando e espero que façamos novos amigos ao longo do caminho.

WAF: Como é o processo de composição do novo material e onde você obtêm inspiração para isso?

Ian: O processo de composição durou cerca de 14 meses, na maior parte liderado por Andy (bateria/guitarra) e Darran (guitarra). Eventualmente, eles me incluíram e quando Brian (baixo) entrou, finalizamos as estruturas e os arranjos. Foi divertido estar nesse espaço criativo com ótimas pessoas novamente. De um ponto de vista lirico, estas são histórias pessoais que eu queria contar. Eu tentei conta-las de uma forma que fosse pessoal para mim, mas que outros também pudessem se identificar. Espero que possamos conseguir isso.

WAF: Você diria que a banda está em sua melhor fase?

Ian: Em muitos aspectos, eu diria que sim. Acho que o EP (Attack. Sustain. Decay) é o nosso melhor trabalho - o material mais coeso e complexo que fizemos, mas simplificado. Eu acho que é o melhor exemplo do que a nossa banda tem para oferecer.

WAF: O que podemos esperar da banda após o lançamento de “Attack. Sustain. Decay”?

Ian: Difícil dizer - estamos todos ocupados com outros aspectos de nossas vidas. Mas esperamos continuar escrevendo e gravando sempre que o tempo o permitir. Quando isso será? Não temos absolutamente nenhuma ideia, e essa é a melhor parte da banda nos dias de hoje. É apenas por diversão e sempre que encontramos tempo, sem qualquer pressão.

WAF: Como vocês se sentem em voltar aos palcos após o hiatus?

Ian: Muito animados. Nós escrevemos este EP para o tocar ao vivo, e tocar ao vivo é o que fizemos melhor desde o início. Tocar na frente de novas multidões e alguns antigos fãs que nunca nos viram antes será realmente incríveis.

WAF: Qual foi a maior conquista como uma banda que vocês já conseguiram?

Ian: Isso é difícil de dizer. Quando nos separamos em 2006, não acho que nenhum de nós poderia realmente prever a vida que essa banda levaria aos fãs depois de termos ido. Os álbuns continuaram a ser compartilhados, novos fãs surgiram e a música nunca morreu. Essa é a nossa maior conquista, penso. A música é importante o suficiente para se suportar, mesmo se não estamos por perto para promovê-la. Nós temos nossos fãs para agradecer por manter nossa memória viva, a ponto de podermos voltar e fazer uma turnê como We Are One, para um continente que nunca visitamos. É incrível.

Continuing our interviews with the bands of We Are One Tour, this week we had the opportunity to talk to the band The Fullblast. In this interview, the members of the band comment a little about how the process of composing the new EP “Attack. Sustain. Decay, "the expectations for this tour and how they feel about returning to the stage after the hiatus occurred in 2006.

The Fullblast is a Canadian Punk Rock band founded in 2000, the band has 2 studio albums and 3 EPs in their careers and is influences of bands like Face to Face, NOFX and Strung Out. We Are Fearless: What are your expectations for this tour?  

Ian: We have no idea what to expect to be honest. We stopped being a band actively about 11 years ago, and we never had the opportunity to tour in South America. Based on the fans we have been getting on Facebook over the years, it seems like South America really likes what we do, so I’m hoping to an energetic crowd each night singing along and hopefully making some new friends along the way.  

WAF: How is the process of writing and composition of new material and where do you get inspiration for?

Ian: The writing took place over about 14 months, mostly led by Andy (drums/guitar) and Darran (guitar). Eventually they pulled me in and when Bri (bass) came in we finalized the structures and arrangements. It was fun to be in that creative space with some great dudes again. From a lyrics perspective, these are all personal stories that I wanted to tell. I tried to tell them in a way that was personal to me, but relatable to everyone else. I hope we achieved that.

WAF: Would you say that the band is at its best phase?

Ian: In many ways I would say yes. I think the EP is our best work – the most cohesive and complex stuff we’ve done, but simplified. I think it’s the best example of what our band has to offer.

WAF: What we can expect from the band now after the release of “Attack. Sustain. Decay”?  

Ian: Tough to say – we are all busy with other aspects of our lives. But we hope to keep writing and recording whenever the time permits. When that will be? We have absolutely no idea, and that’s the best part of the band these days. It’s just for fun and whenever we find time, without any pressure.

WAF: How do you feel about coming back to the stages?

Ian: Very excited. We wrote this EP to play it live, and playing live is what we’ve done best since the very beginning. Playing in front of new crowds and some old fans who have never seen us before will be really incredible.

WAF: What was the biggest achievement as a band you guys have ever achieved? 

Ian: That’s tough to say. When we broke up in 2006, I don’t think any of us could really predict the life that this band would take with fans after we were gone. The albums continued to be shared, new fans came around and the music never died. That’s our biggest achievement I think. The music is important enough to endure, even if we aren’t around to promote it. We have our fans to thank for keeping our memory alive, to the point that we can come back and do a tour like We Are One, to a continent we’ve never even visited. It’s incredible.

Essa semana nós tivemos a honra de conversar com uma de nossas bandas favoritas e também uma das bandas independentes de metalcore que mais vem crescendo na cena underground ao redor do mundo, a banda Our Hollow, Our Home!

Our Hollow, Our Home é uma banda independente de metalcore melódico de  Southampton, Reino Unido fundada em 2012, a banda conta com 1 EP chamado “//Redefine” e 1 álbum chamado “Hartsick”. A banda é composta por 5 membros, Connor Hallisey (Vocalista), Tobias Young (Vocalista/Guitarrista), Josh White (Guitarrista), Bobby Brooks (Baixista) e Nick Taliadoros (Baterista).

We Are Fearless: Como foi o processo de gravação e composição de “Hartsick”? Onde vocês conseguiram inspiração? Como está indo o processo de produção do segundo álbum?

Tobias Young: Depois de termos finalizado o EP “// Redefine”, queríamos reavaliar a maneira como trabalhamos em nossas músicas. Pegar o que mais gostamos e ampliar isso, repensar tudo o que sentimos que era o som da OHOH. “Hartsick” fez exatamente isso, fizemos os refrões mais cativantes, as quebras mais pesadas e os riffs mais rápidos. Estamos tão imensamente orgulhosos de “Hartsick”. Inspiração: musicalmente de muitas bandas diferentes, desde metalcore até músicas clássicas de filmes. Liricamente é tudo de experiências da vida real.

O segundo álbum já está em andamento…  seguimos o mesmo processo que fizemos com “Hartsick”, e parece estar funcionando muito bem até agora… uma coisa é certeza… vai ficar sombrio, e vai ser pesado.

WAF: Como você se sente sobre a grande resposta de pessoas ao redor do mundo depois do lançamento de “Hatsick”?

Connor Hallisey: Honestamente, é mais modesto do que qualquer outra coisa. Nós tínhamos altas expectativas para onde poderíamos levar OHOH desde o início, e obter a resposta que recebemos no nosso álbum de estréia é nada menos que incrível. Nós temos os melhores fãs!

WAF: Qual foi a maior conquista como uma banda que vocês já conseguiram?

Connor: Essa é uma pergunta difícil! Nós tocamos com algumas bandas incríveis em alguns países lindos, nós tivemos nossa música tocada na rádio nacional no Reino Unido, e nos destacaram em algumas de nossas revistas favoritas da infância (Kerrang, Rocksound, MetalHammer), mas acho que em geral, se tivéssemos que escolher uma coisa com a qual estamos mais orgulhosos, acho que teria que ser lançar o álbum de estréia. Nós tínhamos trabalhado nessas músicas há tanto tempo, e ver tantas pessoas apreciando genuinamente algo em que tínhamos dedicado tanto tempo e esforço foi realmente um sonho tornado realidade.

WAF: Qual foi a maior influência para começar Our Hollow, Our Home?

Connor: Nós nos reunimos como um grupo de caras que trabalharam juntos em outras bandas locais pequenas e de curta duração que queriam desenvolver um som e uma imagem mais definidos em um novo projeto que realmente poderíamos colocar 100% de nós nisso. Em termos de influências, tiramos a nossa inspiração de tantos aspectos diferentes da vida, bem como de outros artistas, é difícil dizer quais são os nossos mais influentes! Nós todos crescemos ouvindo bandas como Funeral For A Friend, Thrice, Underoath etc, então eu acho que é justo dizer que o post-hardcore, bem como bandas veteranas do metalcore, como Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive e The Devil Wears Prada, desempenharam sua parte em termos de nos inspirar e aprimorar nossas habilidades de escrita ainda mais.

WAF: Qual foi seu show favorito até agora, por quê? E qual é a sua música favorita para tocar ao vivo?

Connor: Essa é uma pergunta muito difícil! Eu acho que o meu show da OHOH preferido no ano passado foi estar tocando um show esgotado em um barco em Budapeste no verão. Todo mundo estava tão conectado, haviam muitos coros, vários pits, e eu até consegui fazer um stage dive! Para mim, pessoalmente, minhas músicas favoritas para tocar provavelmente terão que ser “Worms Wood” ou “Feast For the Crows”. Eu amo as reações da multidão pra essas músicas, e em geral, as faixas mais pesadas parecem incitar mais loucura em uma apresentação ao vivo.

WAF: Com "Halloween” chegando, quais são suas expectativas para este show?

Connor: Eu acho que será realmente uma noite para relembrar. Há uma grande combinação de bandas na conta, algumas das quais são as nossas preferidas bandas do Reino Unido, e tocar na nossa cidade natal é sempre um grande acontecimento. Além disso, é uma desculpa para comemorar o Dia das Bruxas alguns dias antes, quem não ama Halloween!

WAF: Tem algo que vocês querem dizer a todos os seus fãs no Brasil e em todo o mundo?

Connor: Apenas agradeço do fundo de nossos corações por apoiar nossa banda e acreditar no que fazemos. Sem os nossos fãs, não poderíamos continuar a fazer isso, por isso estamos extremamente gratos pelo seu apoio de qualquer forma e, espero, podermos visitá-los em algum momento em um futuro não tão distante!

This week we had the honor of talking to one of our favorite bands and also one of the best independent metalcore bands that has been growing in the underground scene around the world, Our Hollow, Our Home!

Our Hollow, Our Home is an independent melodic metalcore band from Southampton, UK founded in 2012, the band has 1 EP called “// Redefine” and 1 album called “Hartsick”. The band consists of 5 members, Connor Hallisey (Vocalist), Tobias Young (Vocalist / Guitarist), Josh White (Guitarist), Bobby Brooks (Bassist) and Nick Taliadoros (Drummer).

First of all we would like to say that we’re very happy and honored by the opportunity and we would like to thank the confidence that the band has put in us and also to the support of all of you!

We Are Fearless: How was the process of recording and writing “Hartsick”? Where did you guys get inspiration from? How is going the process of making the second album?

Tobias Young: After we finshed the “//Redefine” ep, we wanted to to reevaluate the way we worked on our songs. Look at what we liked and expand on it, dissect the very fabric of what we felt was the OHOH sound. “Hartsick” did just that, we made the choruses catchier, breakdowns heavier and the riffs faster. We’re so immensely proud of “Hartsick”. Inspiration wise, musically from a lot of different bands, from metalcore through to classical scores from films. Lyrically it’s all from real life experiences. Album 2 is already in the works… and were following the same process as we did with “Hartsick”, and it seems to be working really well so far.. one things for sure… its going to be dark, and its going to be heavy.

WAF: How do you feel about the huge response from people around the world after Hartsick’s release?

Connor: Honestly, it’s more humbling than anything else. We’ve had high hopes for where we could take OHOH from the start, and to get the response we’ve received on our debut album is nothing short of incredible. We have the best fans!

WAF: What was the biggest achievement as a band you guys have already achieved?

Connor: That’s a difficult question! We’ve played with some amazing bands in some beautiful countries, we’ve had our music played on national radio in the UK, and we’ve been featured in some of our childhood favourite magazines (Kerrang, Rocksound, MetalHammer) but I think overall, of we had to pick one thing which we are the most proud of, I think it would have to be just releasing the debut album. We had worked on those songs for such a long time, and seeing so many people genuinely enjoying something we had put so much time and effort into was really a dream come true.

WAF: What was the biggest influence to start Our Hollow, Our Home? 

Connor: We came together as a bunch of guys who’d worked together in other local and small time bands who wanted to develop a more defined sound and image in a new project who could truly put our 100% into. In terms of influences, we source our inspiration from so many different aspects of life as well as other artists, it’s difficult to say which are our most influential! We all grew up listening to bands like FFAF, Thrice, Underoath etc so I think it’s fair to say that post hardcore as well as early metalcore acts like Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive and TDWP have all played their part in terms of inspiring us to push our own writing abilities further.

WAF: What has been your favourite show to date, why? And what’s your favorite song to play live?

Connor: That’s a really tough question! I think my favourite OHOH show in the last year would have to be playing a sold out show on a boat in Budapest this summer. Everyone was just so into it, there were loads of sing a longs, a bunch of pits, and I even got to stage dive! For me personally, my favourite song/songs to play would probably have to be “Worms Wood” or “Feast for the crows”. I love the crowd reactions these tracks get, and in general the heavier tracks just seem to incite more madness in a live setting.

WAF: With “Holloween” coming, what are your expectations for this gig?

Connor: I think it will truly be a night to remember. There’s a strong mix of bands on the bill, some of which are our favourite upcoming UK bands, and playing our hometown is just always such a blast. Plus it’s an excuse to celebrate Halloween a few days early, and who doesn’t love Halloween!

WAF: Is there anything you guys want to say to all your fans in Brazil and all around the world?

Connor: Just thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our band and believing in what we do. Without our fans we wouldn’t not be able to continue doing this, so we are just extremely grateful for your support in any way and hopefully we will be able to visit you all sometime in the not so distant future!

Terminando as nossas entrevistas com as bandas da We Are One Tour, essa semana nós tivemos a oportunidade de falar com a banda headliner da turnê, a Face to Face. Nessa entrevista, a banda comenta um pouco sobre o que esperar daqui pra frente, o processo de composição de novos materiais e as expectativas pra voltar ao Brasil com essa turnê.

Face to Face é uma banda norte americana de Punk Rock fundada em 1991, a banda possui 10 álbuns de estúdio e 8 EPs na carreira e conta com grande influencia de bandas como Bad Religion, Fugazi, Descendents e Adolescents. Face to Face vem ao Brasil ao lado das bandas Ignite, The Fullblast, The Decline e Much The Same para a segunda edição da We Are One Tour que passará por Porto Alegre, Curitiba, São Paulo (com a banda PENSE) e Rio de Janeiro.

We Are Fearless: Quais são suas expectativas para essa turnê na América do Sul?

Trever Keith: O Brasil é agora um lugar onde fomos muitas vezes e os shows são sempre muito divertidos por causa dos fãs apaixonados. Estou ansioso para os outros países que nós vamos visitar pela primeira vez nesta turnê.

WAF: Como é o processo de composição do novo material e onde você obtêm inspiração para isso?

Trever: Scott e eu costumamos fazer demos em nossa Garageband ou qualquer outra Estação digital de edição de áudio com qual estejamos trabalhando no momento e trocamos os demos de um lado para o outro até que as músicas tomem forma. Então nos juntamos como uma banda para ensaiar e trabalhar na pré-produção. No passado, não tínhamos a facilidade de tecnologia para criar demos das idéias iniciais.

WAF: Quais foram as maiores influências para começar a banda?

Trever: Bad Religion, Fugazi, Descendents, Adolescents.

WAF: Após o lançamento de “Say What You Want” o que podemos esperar da banda?

Trever: Estamos compondo novos materiais agora e vamos gravar um novo álbum no início de 2018.

WAF: Você diria que a banda está em sua melhor fase?

Trever: Não tenho certeza, mas é ótimo estar nesta banda agora.

WAF: Depois de todo esse tempo como um grupo, como você mantém viva a essência da banda viva para continuar fazendo álbuns e turnês como se fosse a primeira vez?

Trever: Todos nós realmente gostamos de fazer música e estar juntos. Nos tornamos mais como uma família.

WAF: Qual foi a maior conquista como uma banda que vocês já conseguiram?

Trever: Todos os anos que continuamos a fazer música e tocar shows ao vivo é uma nova conquista por si só.

Finishing our interviews with the bands of We Are One Tour, this week we had the opportunity to talk to the tour’s headliner, Face to Face. In this interview, the band comments a little about what to expect on the next year, the process of composing new materials and the expectations to return to Brazil with this tour.

We Are Fearless: What are your expectations for this tour in South America?  

Trever Keith: Brazil is now a place we have been to many times and the shows are always so much fun because of the passionate fans. I am looking forward to the other countries that we will be visiting for the first time on this tour.

WAF: How is the process of writing and composition of new material and where do you get inspiration for?

Trever: Scott and I usually make demos in Garageband or whatever DAW we’re working with at the time and trade the demos back and forth until the songs take shape. Then we get together as a band to rehearse and work on preproduction. In the past, we did not have the ease of technology to create demos of the early ideas.

WAF: What were your biggest influences to start the band?

Trever: Bad Religion, Fugazi, Descendents, Adolescents.

WAF: After the release of “Say What You Want”, what can we expect from the band?  

Trever: We are writing new material right now and we will be recording a new album in the beginning of 2018.

WAF: Would you say that the band is at its best phase?

Trever: Not sure, but it feels great to be in this band right now.

WAF: After all this time as a group, how do you keep the essence of the band alive to continue making albums and tours as if it were the first time?

Trever: We all truly enjoy making music and actually just being together. It’s become more like family.

WAF: What was the biggest achievement as a band you guys have ever achieved?

Trever: Every year that we continue to make music and play shows is a new achievement in and of itself.
