WHAT DID YOUR CHARACTER DO WHEN THEY GOT BACK TO CIVILIZATION:

kurt caught up with his dad and facetimed for an hour. took himself out for lunch and shopping because when in doubt, retail therapy. before heading back he got dinner and cheesecake because the craving is always real. much like hermione, he also made sure his phone was stocked with music that he’d forgotten to download before leaving, and caught up with what’s going on on his favorite shows and celebs.

WHAT’S BEEN THE BIGGEST ADJUSTMENT OF CAMP LIFE?

beyond anything, kurt feels pretty lonely. the bugs, dirt and grime, along with very limited access to the modern world is a major bummer and he now realizes maybe he’s a little addicted to instagram, and vogue.com, along with the luxury of being able to go for coffee and shopping whenever he wants. he also misses going out to eat and being in the world. 

HOW ARE THEY HOLDING UP?

he’s tired because he hasn’t really been able to get a good sleep yet, and has developed an irrational fear of waking up to a rat on him, or other rodents in bed with him and is constantly making sure the room is empty. the first week it feels as if they’ve made some sort of dent so that’s rewarding, but he’d very much like to be done so they can start the real fun process of planning and enjoying what’s left of the summer.

ANY HOT GOSS?

kurt still hates sebastian, and even more than hating sebastian, he hates the fact that he’s heard him having obnoviously loud sex with blaine, and doing all he can to mark his territory. kurt also resents the fact he does nothing and still wants to reap the benefits of having played some ‘part’ when he hasn’t at all. kurt isn’t sure how he feels about billy at this point, but he’s balancing on the fence. as for everyone else, we’ll get there soon enough!

“well, well, well, if it isn’t blaine anderson. sebastian finally let you out of your cell?” kurt questioned —  brow peaked in curiosity, his tone surprisingly neutral and teasing in regards to satan himself, but pleasantly surprised to actually see his fellow warbler out and about. especially because at this point, a friendly face was a sight for sore eyes. “or off the leash, i should say.” a teasing yet significantly exhausted shrug was tossed his way as kurt tied the bag of trash and tossed set it towards the door. really, if should have been the other way around because sebastian had done everything in his power to mark his territory which was not only abundantly clear, but severely unnecessary. 

what blaine even saw in him was beyond kurt, but it wasn’t his business and he really didn’t care. “we might finally have a fully functioning kitchen soon enough.” he preened, his expression all but saying thank god, because the instant food, or general camp fire fixes left so much to be desired and he missed real food. the mess hall had been cleaned up significantly, and while the roof still very much had a gigantic gaping hole where people had fallen through, the kitchen hadn’t suffered the same fate. “i’ve had the stove burning all day trying to cook off whatever the rats left.” because yes, something had been living in there. and he’d scrubbed it ruthlessly and done everything he could to the point where his cheeks were pink with the sheer heat from not only the summer, but the building itself; which also accounted for the smell of stove cleaner and windex drowning out the once putrid stench of fifty years left untouched. 

“how’ve you been though? it feels like i haven’t seen you in ages; we’ve yet to even discuss festival names or line ups yet, and that just feels like an honest to god travesty.”

“Some of us actually spent our childhoods outside. You know, where the germs live,” Billy quipped innocently, storming into the condemned little shack haphazardly, kicking over a molded sofa, and watching in amusement as the cloud of dust it kicked up swirled around Snow White. “Eating worms, playing in the dirt. Getting—gasp!—sunburnt.” 

Picking on the precious little princess was almost subconscious. He was busy cataloguing the room. Vermin, mildew, a collapsed roof in the far corner. He was starting to seriously consider the torching idea. “Isn’t building this place up to code like… the entire reason we’re here?” He asked, face twisting into an incredulous sneer. Not that Billy intended to do anything to that effect, but like, still. One of them looked like they couldn’t tell a hammer from a screwdriver, and it fucking wasn’t him. 

Granted, Billy’d never built a building, but honestly, he was betting cars were a lot fucking harder, and he’d slaved over his Camaro. If he had to contribute, on pain of death, at least he fucking knew what a screwdriver was. And despite his internal ode to his own masculinity, he still couldn’t help but mutter, “you don’t settle for Rhianna,” with disgust under his breath. Billy would lay down and die for that bitch. He didn’t bother to comment on the marijuana thing, just let his deep exhale do the trick for him. If this kid didn’t like weed, he was in the wrong fucking place. 

“Once bitten, twice shy?” He asked with  lewd wink. 

“that explains so much.” a tedious roll of kurt’s eyes had him following billy without the same vigor the other seemed to have, though it left him in a cloud of regret, closing his eyes while the dust settled, expelling a slow, calming breath into the white mask. eating worms would have caused a legitimate recoil if he weren’t already breathing his way into a calmer moment, though it was far too easy to think of the other sat out on the front lawn, waiting for a van of candy and pedophiles to role up. given his entire demeanor, kurt had made the snap judgement that his parents probably weren’t around a lot, or wanted nothing to do with him; the few offhanded comments already getting his back up in the slightest. 

“mhm, eating rocks too, i’m sure.” would explain why upstairs seemed to empty.again, perhaps that was the bitterness talking but he didn’t exactly sign up to come do this with mister destruction. “oh, i already hate you.” kurt huffed under his breath, fully aware the other could hear as his eyes opened to be met with the sneer, still lost in a swirl of dust, though it had settled considerably. 

what did he just say? what, was billy now trying to lure him down the unsuspecting path; get him going only to laugh and use it against him? he didn’t seem like the type to like rhianna, therefore the bait went completely untouched. “yes, well she certainly won’t be settling for you.” not if he came in like a fucking hurricane and managed to make an even bigger mess than what was there. that wasn’t how these things got cleaned up. 

“you need to stop. immediately.” refusing to let him make matters worse, kurt pushed past him, moving to the corner of the room where the sunlight streamed through, a mighty collection of rotted leaves and other odds and ends forming a disgusting mess in the corner. the elements had gotten in here and it sufficed to say the floor felt too soft, rotted.  “this is going to be a pain in the ass.” which seemed only fitting considering he was paired with one. “can i just ask what skills you’re bringing to the table? i didn’t get a chance to read your resume.” though he didn’t think it would be remotely impressive. subdued sarcasm laced through kurt’s words as he turned back, seriously wondering what billy was capable of, before turning up to look at the hole in the roof. the room smelling unmistakably like death.

spiders were bugs, and bugs typically weren’t a problem. did kurt enjoy them? no. did he run out of fear? no. bed bugs were a scary topic, but they were less a bug and more of a life ruiner. something that could turn your life and closet upside down, so maybe there was an irrational fear when it came to them. but spiders? they didn’t really bother him, not on a fear level at least. but that was before he was deep in the woods of colorado, surrounded by cobwebs from hell and impossibly big spiders. nothing to write to australia about, but far more than ohio had ever offered. but, like any sane and intelligent person that was wildly prepared and valued their life, he’d done a quick read on poisonous plants, bugs, and wild animals they could run into, because he needed to cover all his bases. and it was because of that, that kurt knew exactly how much of a total nope this was. 

but for this particular scene, kurt’s eyes were wide and his lips were open in horror, tripping over himself to figure out exactly what to say that could keep the other both calm, but alert enough to not do anything stupid because somehow he knew ‘SPIDER!!!’ would really only exacerbate the issue at hand, and possibly set it on course for a very disastrous string of events, especially if said spider was poisonous. which he was pretty sure it was. and then reality hit him hard, and his lips were closing, he was huffing out a breath and shaking the daze. his eyes remained focused on the other’s chest, the lower left where their shirt dropped off. “literally don’t panic, but you need to very carefully ditch your shirt, or be really certain you can kill upon contact; which i don’t suggest because you’re not wearing any gloves, but — “ his words were a calm, and yet speedy flurry delivered in attempts to get them to move before the spider did. 

“you have a spider, there.” he pointed, “and unless i’m horribly mistaken, which is unlikely,” SO DON’T ARGUE was implied, “that’s a brown recluse. they can’t normally pierce through clothing with their fangs, but i really don’t want to spend my summer watching you die, so — “ ditch the shirt, or do something about it quick.

Billy let one brow fly, because was this kid for real? He repressed his own urge to recoil from what absolutely had been a rat on goddamn steroids, A-Rod style, because he wasn’t a fucking sissy like Princess over here, but still. Rats caused the plague, or something didn’t they? 

“I don’t know what they fuck you’re talking about,” Billy finally admitted around the joint he’d pressed to his lips. He paused to light it up and inhale, the herbal scent of some top of the line bud protecting his nose from the worst of… whatever that smell was. “I say we save ourselves the trouble and torch the place,” he added with a shrug. 

Sweet Jesus, Princess had a honest-to-god mask. 

He was pretty enough. Billy had fucked his fair share of queens, could appreciate them, after a fashion. But there was always such a sense of effort required with this kind of gay. It was all Broadway, and RuPaul’s Drag Race season 32, and some bitch named Judith Butler, and that was about as far as he got before it all turned to white noise. Still, if they were throwing around concert ideas…

“Please, Rhianna’s the only one who’ll go for our whole ‘nuclear apocalyptic chic’ thing we’ve got going on.” Billy rolled his eyes as the kid pulled out actual gloves, and figured he’d take one for the fucking team. He’d always wanted to kick down a door anyway. “Don’t worry princess, I’ll get the door.”

“ratigan? how do you not know who he is?” kurt scowled, brows pulled together in complete non-comprehension, which could also be mistaken for disgust given the subject matter. “did you not have a childhood — or?” he had no excuse whatsoever. he ignored the other smoking up because the smell was already horrendous an if he weren’t used to the years here, it would have made him recoil alone, though the rodent had already done that much. “unless you’re prepared to build another one that’s up to code, i suggest you go back to the drawing board immediately because that’s a terrible idea.”

kurt bit back a comment in regards to how billy didn’t exactly look like the type that knew how to build anything, whether it be a toy car, or a legitimate cabin. “i’ll settle for a little rhirhi, after all, i don’t think she’s doing much these days in terms of music after her last tour tanked. uncultured fools.” Kurt added in a mumble, but he did enjoy most of her albums, especially when he fell into a mood, but if they were doing this, and enduring what they were? there better have been his first two choices in some degree or another. hell, that was even a situation in which he’d happily take on the grueling work of assisting back stage, catering to whatever needs of the talent in hopes of a spare moment to professionally gush about what an inspiration they all were. 

“not to mention she does have a public affection for marijuana.” and if colorado was known for anything... “shouldn’t be too hard to get her.” though she hadn’t even crossed his mind for top five, still it was too early to set anything in stone, they still had to make it through this first. kurt rolled his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest at the pathetic attempt to get under his skin. “by all means, if we can afford to lose anyone to rabies...” he shrugged, taking a step back with a new found annoyance dully in his eyes.

“dear god, please tell me that is not ratigan himself.” the disgustingly large and bulbous rodent that just took off the moment they’d stumbled into the cabin caused kurt’s nostrils to flare, eyes wide in disgust while his hand snapped to his throat, an unintentional pearl clutch as he gaped, taken back in horror. when he had signed up for this, he knew it wasn’t going to be a walk in the park but the glory and utter brilliance that came with being involved on such an intimate level? it felt nice to work towards something, especially when his passion (one of many) revolved around music, but boy oh boy, had he underestimated the level of decay they were dealing with. 

“if i recall correctly, he’s got an army and i’m not too eager to meet them.” this was just the beginning, but kurt would happily go without finding out, but alas. “you’ve seen the movie, right?” he question, brow peaked high. “the great mouse detective? fall to his death, my ass. i don’t trust him.” any of them. which is why he was itching to turn back, but instead he moved forward, pulling the face mask up off his neck and over both his nose and mouth because the smell was already disgusting, he didn’t need to opening the door and essentially escorting everything to his lungs in an open invite to make him sick. especially not if there were mice or rats present, which there very clearly were.

“if we don’t get beyonce or gaga out of this, i swear to god...” kurt muttered, scowling under the white mask as he pulled a pair of gardening gloves from his back pocket. he was nothing if not prepared, said the costco sized tub of hand sanitizer, and the tent he’d opted for because at least with that, he could dictate who came in and out.

kurt is a very guarded individual who seldom lets people in, but he’s a complete pro at putting on an outgoing face and projecting an image to both his peers and the world around him. kurt keeps himself in meticulous order and seldom has a hair out of place. fashion, bold fashion, is his trademark along with his tongue that is constantly heavily laced in sarcasm. he can be a fly on the wall just as much as he can be the loudest voice in the room if it’s a topic he can add to, or something he’s passionate about. he loves singing, is a very artistic individual and likes to create. he joined the warblers within his first month, having missed the glee club at his old high school, along with the GSA (spectrum). he’s homosexual and typically surrounds himself with girls because they speak his language and are far more relatable, and share a lot of his interests. his father owns a garage and due to the loss of his mother when he was a child, he would spend a lot of time there helping out with the cars, book keeping, and secretarial duties, along with babysitting his dad and making sure he’s not overdoing it on the slim jims (he always is). while he isn’t afraid to get down and dirty and exert a bit of elbow grease, he needs to be prepared for it and not in his typical fashion fare. i’ll update this shortly.
