Please, stop pressuring people with trauma to “just let it go” and “stop holding onto it”. Healing from trauma is much more difficult than people imagine and recovery takes time, and it is not always a linear progress. Try to listen to them if they want to talk about it. Be there for them: a support system helps a lot. Let them know they are not alone in their struggles. Understand the complexity of trauma healing, instead of telling someone to “snap out of it”. Try to be understanding or sympathetic towards what they went through and be patient with their recovery.
