Young girls of the Siwa Oasis wore silver torques around their necks, from which hung a large disc engraved with a central cross and surrounded by eight-pointed motifs symbolizing the sun. This jewelry was worn exclusively by unmarried girls and for the final time on their wedding day.
The designs of jewelry featured motifs inspired by the natural surroundings of Siwa, including the sun, moon, and stars. Head jewelry, such as earrings, often consisted of crescent-shaped rings.
