Beca: Oh I know. It's kind of creepy. One guy tried to mumble something to me in my ear once, but I'm 90% sure it was a mix of random and made up words.

“Oh my god!” Beca whipped around, grabbing at the shower curtain that she yanked closer to her in an attempt to cover herself while, with her other hand, shut off the water and reached for her towel. “Dude, I’m naked. Get out!” She exclaimed, still in disbelief that someone had the audacity to invite themselves into the shower of someone else they didn’t know. Beca continued to stare at the other student in bewilderment as she stood there, not a single sign of awkwardness about the unusual situation found on her face, while she started to talk again. She had to admit though she was a little surprised when she was asked if that had been Titanium she was singing, but kept a firm hold of her towel, the shower curtain having since been released from her hand as it hadn’t been of too much help. “You know David Guetta? Wait, no, I’m not having a conversation with you in my shower.” She emphasized, hoping the stranger would leave.
“Of course I know David Guetta. Have I been living under a rock?” Chloe answered brightly, not bothering to mention just how much she loved that song. Since the end of high school, Chloe had really missed music. At home she still had her friends who would humor her with sing alongs in the car as well as the privacy of having her own room, where she was able to sing to her heart’s content. But at Barden she was limited. She’d made a few ‘friends’ but she didn’t have the steady stream of invites that she once had. She missed duets with her best friend, singing when doing dishes with her mom, serenading her nephew when she babysat, chorus practice, play rehearsals and the alone time to perform a whole Beyonce CD solo. Crossing her arms, Chloe looked a little daring at the girl before her. “I’m not going to leave until you sing it with me.”
A Song for Wolves
“No, I think I’m all set but thank you so much for the offer.” Neither of her parents, let alone Sheila, had ever bothered to give her “the talk,” but Beca was more than fine with that. She figured her dad didn’t worry about it a whole lot since she didn’t show much interest in other people, too busy cooped up in her room to care about going out to parties and meeting people for a potential hook up, and she suspected Sheila was on the verge, if she hadn’t already, assumed Beca was gay. Though untrue, Beca had never felt any inclination to bring up the subject to find out if that was the case and correct her. Not a conversation she wanted to have with her step-mother ever. “I will keep that in mind,” she promised. “What?! You said I was close to the Top Five! That’s like, I don’t know, twenty other people! The coffee cart guy though? Really? And the Trebles? I’m guessing Aubrey doesn’t know about that, she might start harping about how you have a toner.” She rolled her eyes, still refusing to believe it was a real thing.
“He has abs, Beca. Abs!” Chloe said as if it was the most obvious thing. “That part of the oath was removed from our official constitution, Aubrey made sure of it,” Chloe explained. She’d never completely gotten that part, but she never actually had been interested in Trebles, past or present. She just like teasing Beca. “But toners are totally a thing. Like I have a total toner for Justin Timberlake. I think we’d make sweet music together...among other things.” Chloe didn’t bother selecting anything else to watch, figuring she had put Beca through enough for the night. “You just need to step up your game. You have me all to yourself this summer to get yourself into that top five position. I’m talking about tons of practice, some over time, maybe discussing strategy. I normally have like twenty people fawning over me and scrambling to give me attention, so no pressure or anything.”

Beca: Are you one of those people that somehow got to skip out on taking a language at Barden or did you pick something else?
Beca: Por qué habría de hacerlo cuando me casé contigo?
Beca: You may be the only one who thinks that. Everyone else prefers French, but I don't know, it kind of sounds like a cat hacking up a hairball to me or someone trying to spit something out.
Chloe: I got to skip! Because I'm awesome.
Chloe: Even though I had to look up with that meant, I'm like 900% turned on right now.
Chloe: French is overrated. Spanish is way more useful anyway. I mean, I am from Miami, my mediocre skills have come in handy. Though my accent is like super horrible and I can ask very basic questions and say "yes".

Beca: You are so lucky I love you.
Beca: Aprendí español para las clases requeridas.
Beca: I was forced to continue in college too and even though 201 isn't a required level, you're still VERY strongly encouraged to take it. Didn't you take a language too?
Chloe: Well yeah but I took Spanish forever ago. My high school classes counted.
Chloe: Next time you find someone you really wanna date, you should speak to them in spanish. I swear, it's hot.
First Days of Something
“Hate to disappoint, but not really. I don’t do much singing or rapping when I’m alone except maybe in the shower if that counts for anything. Maybe if I’m listening to something while working I’ll mouth the lyrics sometimes. What, not into community college?” She quirked an eyebrow at Chloe. “But I can get that, I wouldn’t be able to go either. Sorry about your dad though, that sucks. Yeah, just one year. It was almost two because of my step-monster, but all I had to say was if I was out of the house sooner then they wouldn’t have to deal with me for as long. She was pissed that I was right, but it worked. Are you a music major?”
“It totally counts,” Chloe said with a nod of her head. “It’s programs weren’t notable and I did have big dreams of going away to college. It was the in between option. “Yeah, it sucks but it is what it is. Clearly I’m over it and really like Barden now! So it all worked out well. Well, I’m glad you’re here, even if it’s just for a year. Maybe you’ll learn something cool or meet someone awesome,” Chloe said with a smile that indicated that she was indeed someone awesome. “Yeah, a music performance major,” Chloe answered as she lead them up the stairs and stopped at her office. “This is me.”

“Chloe!” She covered her face in her hands for a few seconds with a laugh, “Not what I was thinking at all. Thanks a lot. Well I didn’t know, I wasn’t going to stop and check if you seemed happy or not. Besides, it was dark so it made it harder to see. Maybe if it had been the day time I would’ve decided to stop and think about what kind of a mood the wolf, who I didn’t know was you, was in,” Beca responded with a roll of her eyes. “I don’t think that’s even a real thing, top of the bottom, but okay, whatever you say. Top five wouldn’t be a bad place to be in. Wait, who do I have to beat?”
“I could still give you the talk,” Chloe grinned out and nodded at Beca’s rather logical explanation. “I’m a happy wolf, just for further reference.” Chloe smiled back up at Beca. “Who you have to beat? I don’t know let’s see. Hm, all the Bellas and the Trebles. My mom. That guy who works at the coffee cart by the auditorium. My little cousin. A long list. But you have size on your side. You’d be the perfect little spoon,” Chloe offered.
Under A Rest
“No way,” she answered with a shake of her head, scrunching up her nose as she did so. “I don’t have time to be drowning myself in textbooks. I hold my life to a little more value than letters on a report card thank you very much. I make remixes, much to my roommate’s dismay since she can never get my attention when I have headphones on. You never know, maybe there’s a really cool church that would use it as a hymn? Not that I’d know since I’m not religious at all. They might change “rumpshaker” to something else though. Wow,” Beca drawled out the word, giving a few slow nods. “Definitely the criteria to judge it on. Okay, who’s the character?” She pulled out her phone, ready to look up whoever it was and see for herself.
“I told you not to mock, I feel like you’re mocking me,” Chloe said with the slightest pout but grinned when she saw Beca take out her phone. Snatching it from her she typed in the character’s name and promptly handed it back. “Brooke Davis is super fine, you’ll see,” she promised as she waited for Beca’s reaction and sidled up next to her. Glancing up she met Aubrey’s firm gaze and quickly looked back at Beca. She’d deal with Aubrey in the morning, right now she was trying to make a new friend.

The Barden Bellas had never been part of Beca’s college plans when she’d first enrolled at Barden. In fact she’d never heard of them prior to the annual activities fair, and had decided to give it a shot since it was the closest thing to a sufficient music related club that the university had. First week Beca showed up to her classes to get the syllabi that were handed out, mark the days on them she decided were safe enough to skip, and the assignments she’d have to do if she wanted to get a decent grade. To someone else it might look like she cared with the different color checks and brackets, but that was only if they didn’t know what it all meant. She was meant to be in L.A. three years ago, but had decided to stick around when she was put in charge of the Bellas to see it through until her own graduation. A position of leadership meant she was in charge of putting together the setlist which was what Beca had been doing until late into the night and decided to take a shower after. She preferred the late night showers anyway as less people were around. Upon entering the shower room she could hear someone else was already there, but decided it didn’t matter since it was only one person. Picking a shower a few stalls away from the occupied one, Beca tossed her robe over the wall to hang there and turned on the water, the awareness she’d had of the other person’s presence all but forgotten as she began to sing to herself.
Chloe heard someone enter the bathroom, but it didn’t bother her. Just one other girl was more bearable than the morning rush where all ten stalls would be filled up. Chloe was about to finish up and rinse off when she heard the other girl start singing. It was a song she recognized and Chloe began to hum along. She quickly rinsed and left her shower caddy behind, moving to the shower where the other person was singing. The music moved her and Chloe barged into the shower looked at the other girl, recognizing her just from living in the same dorm. “You were singing Titanium, right?” Chloe asked. “I love that song.” Her eyes glanced down for a brief moment before snapping back up and giving the girl a vibrant smile.

College was a new experience, but Chloe was willing to take it on and make the best of the situation. Sure Barden was not the elaborate music school she had once dreamed of, but it was a realistic option with a decent music program and Chloe knew this was where she had to be. The first week was relatively easy, professors going over syllabus and introductory lessons. Chloe even found herself partaking in some campus events. She’d gone to hall council and had attended the activities fair, though not too many groups caught her attention. Perhaps she’d go to the music department and talk to her music theory professor about a choir she could become apart of. After skyping with her mom and telling her all about the first week, Chloe opted to take a shower despite the late hour. With shower caddy in hand, she headed on over to the communal bathroom, one of her least favorite aspects of Barden but the late night hour usually meant she’d be allowed some privacy. After fiddling with the knobs, Chloe found a nice temperature and headed on in. She began to lather and her current favorite song was soon hummed lowly under her breath. // mitchellbeca
“You’re already crazy,” Beca half-heartedly joked, staring down at her drink as she swirled it around. The idea of going to a club and getting laid was an appealing one, but admittedly she was glad she was just having a night in with Chloe tonight. She needed the support more than she needed the alcohol.
As Chloe went on about her requirements for hookups, Beca raised her eyebrows and looked at her. She frowed slightly as she thought about it. “I.. don’t really know.” Beca was sort of closed off in high school, most of her relationships were flings. Her relationship with a girl named Marian was the only one which was kind of serious, but she eventually gave up on Beca. Most people did. Maybe that was why she hung onto Jesse for so long, because he didn’t.
“I didn’t really date anyone before Jesse. I was a loner. Anyone who dated me kinda gave up after a while because I pushed them away. Jesse hated that about me.” Who could blame him?”
“I wouldn’t give up on you,” Chloe offered, not really intending it to taken in romantic light. “You just need to meet someone with more patience,” she added. In her mind, someone would be crazy not to date Beca. “I mean come on. You’re super talented. You’re pretty easy on the eyes and you’ve got such a cute little butt.” Chloe grinned at Beca before taking another sip.
“Well if I’m gonna be your wingman, I need a little more info. I’m gonna name some people and you should say if you’d ‘tap’ or ‘pass’. That way I can at least see where you’re at,” Chloe explained. “Okay. Bumper. Benji. That British dude from the radio station. Your English Prof from last semester. Barak Obama and....Aubrey.”
