@rose-of-pollux Made some extra screencaps from The A-Team and check out our friendly General Stockwell in the first screencap.... ;)
Out of Character: A couple nights ago, I suffered an anxiety attack relapse due to a bad nightmare and it’s one of the worst feelings in the world. I’ve gone almost an entire year without relapsing (I was diagnosed at 21 years old then again, along with depression, at 25). I’m, unfortunately still feeling from the aftermath which takes me some time to recover but I am trying to make the best of it.
Following the nightmare (which I won’t get into much detail about because I do not remember too much any of it) was quite a calming dream and who should be the dream..none other than Mr. Robert Vaughn.
The dream pretty much took place during The Man from UNCLE reunion in 1983 and I was sitting on the set with David McCallum (along with his wife) talking about different things. I opened up to them about my anxiety attack and how no one was there to comfort me. (Robert was around somewhere off the set talking to either one of the directors or the co-stars). There’s not much to tell about the dream (because it was short and occurred a couple of hours before I had to get up for work) but Robert walked over to me and embraced me with the biggest hug in the world as well as imitating one of the characters from the Rugrats cartoon (Grandpa Boris). I felt calm after it and all the nervousness from the nightmare disappeared.
To some people, it may sound silly but Robert was there for me when I felt no one was there to comfort me and he’s truly my guardian angel.
Robert Vaughn
Wow!!!! I wonder where this is from!!
M.F.U. - The Airwolf Affair
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. joins forces with the Airwolf team and the FIRM to keep the advanced helicopter out of enemy hands who want it for their own personal use. (This is a crossover between my 2 favorite television shows since they both deal with espionage)
The “Open Channel D” Affair...
“Open Channel D” was the catchphrase heard in all episodes of the series and since it’s an open communication line for both Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin, I’m working on a story of drabbles and scenarios of alternate or missing scenes, as well as alternate endings, based on different episodes.
“The Open Channel D Affair” also includes the “Fifteen Years Later Affair” which is The Man from UNCLE reunion movie in 1983.
Robert Vaughn is armed and so so dangerous. I don’t think the first one is Napoleon, but it’s gorgeous. A kind of rugged Napoleon at the end of the long day.
He’s still beautiful, and actually helping me understand this madness a little. And Robert Vaughn. Well. Robert Vaughn.
The one I enjoyed the most was “Get Smart,” because I knew both Buck Henry and Mel Brooks, because I was going with a girl for many years who was a sketch comedian, and that’s how I got to meet them before they became quite famous. They came on the “U.N.C.L.E” set two or three times and sat there all day and made notes, and out of that came “Get Smart.” That was by far the best parody, because the other shows were really…they were serious shows like “U.N.C.L.E” was supposed to be, but “Get Smart” was a real parody, and it was funny. Very funny.
Robert Vaughn on Get Smart with Don Adams as Maxwell Smart
Note: I am also a huge fan of Don Adams/Get Smart!
The final official “posters” for my The Man from UNCLE/Airwolf crossover stories!! (The “cast” also includes Robert Urich and Barbara Stock as well as Demi Lovato, who is playing an original character)
Recently got the entire The Man from UNCLE series on DVD including the six movies and already have the reunion movie plus Robert’s other series, The Protectors as well the fifth season of The A-Team so going to have a mini Robert marathon!!
Today’s Robert Francis Friday post: Robert’s 1986 appearance as the narrator to a short documentary on JFK (set 1/3)
Intriguingly enough, he’s credited here not as an actor, but as a scholar–Robert Vaughn, PhD.
A darling 💜 (ft. this darling looking after another darling)
Debonair? Of Course
And a very classy gentleman!!!
“Open Channel D...”
A homemade poster (though not good) for my story new The Airwolf Affair that takes place in an alternate universe, including my favorite characters from both Airwolf (1984 - 1986) and Spenser For Hire (1985 - 1988)
(ノ^ヮ^)ノ*:・゚✧ i love how they keep in constant eye contact with each other, especially when they’re both in trouble~
Two very handsome men and who obviously love each other. ;)
What made you become a fan of Robert Vaughn and Man from UNCLE?
Open Channel D…
I only discovered The Man from UNCLE a couple of months ago when a channel called Decades was running the series for their “weekend daily binge” but I have always been a huge fan of Robert Vaughn because there was something about him that attracted me (besides the obvious fact that he’s one handsome fella!).
I remember watching him as the “bad guy” where he guest starred as either as a villain (whether his character was accused of the crime, played a part in it and/or if the character was killed himself) and I always rooted for him. Then, about two weeks ago, I started looking at Tumblr posts tagged with his name and I saw his role as Napoleon Solo in The Man from U.N.C.L.E.. I absolutely loved spy shows and movies (including James Bond, Get Smart) because mysteries were both so interesting and fascinating.
I vaguely remembered watching him in The A-Team as General Stockwell and I loved that character! I was absolutely devastated learning about Robert’s death in November 2016 and it’s hard to believe that whenever I watch him on TV that I would never see him do anything recent.
The more I learned about Robert, the more interested I became. He was vocal of politics and the Vietnam War. Actors were rarely outspoken in the 1960s when it came to the war but he was not afraid to voice his opinion. I also learned what a true gentleman he really was and how people loved working with him. As a man who was a bachelor in the 1960s (during The Man from UNCLE) and yes he was very sociable, as well as quite the flirt, but everything changed when Robert got married in June 1974.
I can’t describe or put into words of what made me become a fan of Robert but I am glad I did!!!
