((Back after a too long hiatus. Anyone still around?))
((sad day is sad. Sad mun is sad. Sad everything is sad.))
She yawned, not expecting to do so. “Morning. Sleep well?” she asked. She pulled herself away from him. “Thank you for staying with me…I don’t know why I was so nervous…” she tucked a bit of her hair behind her ear, sitting up.
"It’s fine." Oberon rubbed his face and snapped his fingers, receiving a glassful of water for his trouble. "Here. Drink this. It’ll make you feel better."
She jumped a little bit when he snapped his fingers. She took the glass of water, sipping at it as she watched him quietly. "Thank you."
She stayed as still as she could for a long time, watching the king. To be honest, she rather liked the feeling of his fingers in her hair, and didn’t want to move. But then, she felt nature’s call, and had to go somewhere, anywhere but here. She wasn’t really sure of how to detangle herself from the king, and was trying to do so with minimal disruption to his highness. Currently, a bit of her hair was tangled on his fingers, and pulling wasn’t helping.
Oberon groaned quietly when her movements woke him. He pulled his hand away and shifted a bit, looking down at her. “Mm, good morning, darling.” His back ached like nobody’s business.
She yawned, not expecting to do so. "Morning. Sleep well?" she asked. She pulled herself away from him. "Thank you for staying with me...I don't know why I was so nervous..." she tucked a bit of her hair behind her ear, sitting up.
She was asleep long after she asked the question, but his petting of her made her calmer, made her feel a bit better. She woke up long after the dawn came, waking with a start. She was confused. She was…outside? Why outside? Why would she…Oh….
She’d fallen asleep against Oberon, but now, didn’t want to wake him up. She wasn’t sure how to move to achieve that though.
The king had tangled his fingers in her hair and was fast asleep, barely seeming to breathe. A few fairies flitted about the edges of the bower, taking and depositing various things as part of their daily routine.
She stayed as still as she could for a long time, watching the king. To be honest, she rather liked the feeling of his fingers in her hair, and didn't want to move. "I’ve never slept out in the open like this before. It’s…different. I feel….weird. Kind of exposed." She looked at him for a moment, then rested her head on his leg." Wait, have you slept out here nude? Don’t answer that." She shook her head, laying it down on his leg again. It only took a few moments for her to fall asleep against his leg.
He grinned, but didn’t answer. The fairy petted her absently while he waited for the dawn, listening to the fairies chatter. He eventually drifted off, still sitting up.
She was asleep long after she asked the question, but his petting of her made her calmer, made her feel a bit better. She woke up long after the dawn came, waking with a start. She was confused. She was...outside? Why outside? Why would she...Oh....
She'd fallen asleep against Oberon, but now, didn't want to wake him up. She wasn't sure how to move to achieve that though.
She blushed, feeling rather chastised. “Okay. Okay.” She nodded. She curled up, placing her hands beneath her head as a pillow. After a moment, she sat up. “Wait! Oberon? Are you still there?” Sleeping out in the open like made her a bit nervous. “Would you stay with me? Please?”
He blinked, having been just about to step away, then sat beside her, crossing his legs. “All right, fine. You don’t need to worry, darling. You are protected.”
"I've never slept out in the open like this before. It's...different. I feel....weird. Kind of exposed." She looked at him for a moment, then rested her head on his leg." She looked at the thing. Greenery? “Um…” She looked at him, looking again at the thicket. She didn’t see a bed. “So I just…lay down on it?” she asked skeptically. Caitlin bit her lip, then laid down in the greenery. “I won’t….get any ticks or anything…will I?” she asked. The greenery was actually rather comfortable. Very soft.
He nodded. “You’ll be fine. I’ve slept in this bower for almost a thousand years and never sustained any injuries from it. You should be able to make it at least one night.”
She blushed, feeling rather chastised. "Okay. Okay." She nodded. She curled up, placing her hands beneath her head as a pillow. After a moment, she sat up. "Wait! Oberon? Are you still there?" Sleeping out in the open like made her a bit nervous. "Would you stay with me? Please?"
"I don’t plan on changing." The last bit of that was said with a yawn. Caitlin stretched as she yawned. "I’m not really all that tired. It just sounds like it." She nodded, as if that would help the situation.
Oberon smiled, leading her towards the bower. It was a clearing in a large thicket filled with soft greenery and heather. He motioned to it. “Go to sleep, darling.”
She looked at the thing. Greenery? "Um..." She looked at him, looking again at the thicket. She didn't see a bed. "So I just...lay down on it?" she asked skeptically. Caitlin bit her lip, then laid down in the greenery. "I won't....get any ticks or anything...will I?" she asked. The greenery was actually rather comfortable. Very soft.
"A bower?" She asked, unsure of what that was. "What if the faeries don’t like me?" Caitlin asked again, taking Oberon’s hand.
"I mean, I’m human, right? Why would they like me?" She asked, standing. She nodded. "I am a little tired…"
He shrugged. "There's no reason for them not to like you. You haven't caused them any harm, after all. And you're a pleasant girl. As long as you don't change all that much we should be fine."
"I don't plan on changing." The last bit of that was said with a yawn. Caitlin stretched as she yawned. "I'm not really all that tired. It just sounds like it." She nodded, as if that would help the situation.
theres a giant burning orb in the sky and it can burn your flesh, it can give you diseases, it can kill you, looking directly at it causes physical pain, and we all think this is okay. we like this orb. we like to go outside and lie around on our backs when this orb is in the sky. children draw cute pictures of this levitating death orb with a smiley face on it. what is wrong with us
"Bound?" she asked. She blushed when she realized what he meant, or rather, what she thought he meant. She looked up, and found herself meeting his gaze. His eyes were intense. Caitlin thought about it more and more.
It wasn’t like she couldn’t come back if...
"A bower?" She asked, unsure of what that was. "What if the faeries don't like me?" Caitlin asked again, taking Oberon's hand.
"I mean, I'm human, right? Why would they like me?" She asked, standing. She nodded. "I am a little tired..."
The offer rather stunned her. She didn’t really know what to say. She couldn’t just run away, could she?
Her jaw had dropped when he made the offer, and hadn’t yet recovered. “I…”
Her wheels were spinning. She fought for something intelligent to say. “I wouldn’t know anyone in your world. Except for you. I wouldn’t have a job or…anything.” She looked at a point over his shoulder for a moment. “I haven’t even packed…”
Caitlin remembered to breathe. She shook her head. “This is silly…I can’t just run away. I have responsibilities, things I have to do. I can’t just…run away…” She looked at Oberon again. “Can I?”
"Why of course you can. You’re not bound. Unless you want to be, of course. Humans are amazing that way." Oberon scooted closer, resting his hand on hers. "Please, come with me. Run away with me. I’ll teach you everything. I’ll introduce you to whoever."
"Bound?" she asked. She blushed when she realized what he meant, or rather, what she thought he meant. She looked up, and found herself meeting his gaze. His eyes were intense. Caitlin thought about it more and more.
It wasn't like she couldn't come back if she had to. And she was pretty good at telepathy, maybe she could even send messages to people from inside Oberon's world. Finally, she nodded.
"Alright. I'll go with you."
"But you’re bound to still have them," she answered back. "People aren’t really nice to telepaths either, at least, not here in the human world." She frowned, looking away. "It’s actually, kind of difficult as someone with…" she searched for the proper words. "…certain talents."
Caitlin sighed, frowning. “Makes you kind of want to run away sometimes.”
"Then run away. With me. I won’t eat you." He offered her a smile, feeling a little awkward. "And…since it upsets you so much, I won’t make you hunt for me anymore. We can go…wherever you like, actually."
The offer rather stunned her. She didn't really know what to say. She couldn't just run away, could she?

She pulled her head away from his hand for a moment, raising an eyebrow. “Of course I’m not hot.” She grinned, and blushed for a second. “Well, I’m hot…but not like temperature hot. Hot like pretty.” She shook her head, biting her lip. “Never mind about that.” She watched him for a moment.
"Yes I am. I really feel sorry for you. I made you feel bad. It wasn’t my intention." Caitlin tilted her head. "Has no one felt sorry for you before?"
He shook his head. “No, not really. People are not often sympathetic to the plight of royalty. We are apparently not meant to have problems.” The fairy shifted a little, crossing his legs. “You have no need to feel sorry for me, darling. I’m…I’m okay.”
"But you're bound to still have them," she answered back. "People aren't really nice to telepaths either, at least, not here in the human world." She frowned, looking away. "It's actually, kind of difficult as someone with..." she searched for the proper words. "...certain talents."
