I know I haven't been very active on here lately. Quick update: I had to drop out of school and quit my job both for my mental and physical health. I just got another shot in my back to help with the pain, but it hasn't taken effect yet. I had a dark depressive episode that almost landed me in a mental hospital for a got minute. Anyway, I'm trying to pull all the things back together. I'll do free readings one day this week. But I will also be doing discounted readings on my Etsy shop. Stand by for coupon code. It's really strange to me that there isn't a really nice space themed tarot deck. I feel like divination is more closely connected to the cosmos than it is to dragons, vampires, earth, and other themes I see in tarot. It's a little frustrating too, since astronomy is my main passion besides witchcraft. I tried making a space deck but making decks is harder than one might think without a good art program (plus I had a hard drive crash that took everything with it).

TO THE PAGANS IN A PINCH WHO CAN’T AFFORD FOOD TO THE DEITIES

Not everyone is so lucky to have food that they can make or give specifically to the deities. Sometimes, great financial burdens come upon us and we don’t even know when our next meal is, much less when we should give to a deity. There is nothing wrong with not being able to afford food for deities, and having to nourish your body first.

OTHER TYPES OF OFFERINGS

-Drawings, doodles, chicken scratches that are done with the intent of honoring the gods

-Some type of arts and crafts, like sewing, weavings, handmade jewelry or statues

-Play your favorite song that makes you think of them or make up your own. Your hands and voice are all you need to make music

-Poetry, stories, hymns and anything creative

-A glass of water. Consecrate and bless it, then offer it up to a deity

-Volunteer your time at places that would please that specific deity. Clean up the forests and sides of the road for Gaea, or the beach for Aphrodite, or help out at an animal shelter for Artemis.  

IF YOU’RE DEAD SET ON USING FOOD

Dedicate a meal or supper to them that you are eating. With every piece of food, tell the gods that you are dedicating this meal to them and eating it along side them, that as it nourishes you, so it nourishes them. It would be a good idea to see what foods they like and to try and get those types, if you can.

As someone who spent a good portion of their life being hungry, I myself cannot bear to part with food, even if it is for my Deity. I know there must be others dealing with that same struggle.

Tips for Tumblr Tarot Querents:

“Draw me a card!” – Anonymous

This is the most common request I get. Some psychics may well be able to draw you a card that speaks directly to your situation, but those of us who don’t identify as psychics are a bit more hard pressed for this extremely vague request from Anonymous.

Providing an open-ended question is incredibly helpful for folks taking the time to do free readings on tumblr. Guaranteed, the reading will be more accurate. 

Though I think that tarot is beautiful in its complexity and openness, and that any card can probably speak to most situations in the right context, the Tumblr ask box complicates that process. 

It’s a situation where a reading is happening between strangers (usually Anonymous), there’s no in person energy or connection to gauge, and very few people provide enough details about the situation for an interpretation to be specific, as would happen over a professional email/phone reading. 

Basically, this is my long plea to people who do ask for one card draws: 

Ask an open-ended question. (Not yes or no, not about health or legal matters - I know of no professional tarot readers who will do readings about those; the ethics are murky, at best.) Also, know that many tarot readers do not use tarot to predict the future (I’m one of them) so it might be worth puttering around someone’s blog to figure out if their style of reading suits you. 

Tumblr provides us with tremendous resources easily accessible with the click of a button. But the generous folks who do free tarot, pendulum, and intuitive readings will be better served (and more energized in their work) by folks who take the time to do a little digging before popping off an anonymous question to an ask box.
