Ronan Donovan
One of my favorite photographers at the moment is Ronan Donovan. His wildlife photography is often quite striking in content (sometimes due to the methods he uses) setting it apart from many other wildlife photos. He often uses camera set-ups inside prey carcasses to capture dynamic photos of predators and is willing to track them for weeks at a time over the brutal landscape.
On top of photography Ronan was also creating documentaries following wolf packs in Yellowstone and the Arctic. You can watch the Arctic docu-series on the Nat Geo Wild portion of Disney Plus.
Wildlife photography in general is amazing because you can capture actions, moments, and perspectives never observed before by humans, let alone caught on a camera. That definitely shakes up the “every photo has already been taken” argument.

Mr. Blue Wolf taken by Ronan Donovan
Also, not taken by Ronan but definitely worth mentioning, is one particular photo that has stuck with me ever since I first saw it. In the harsh arctic environment Don Gutoski captured the 2015 Wildlife Photo of the Year. A red fox pauses for a moment in the brutal weather after killing a smaller arctic fox after a fight. The two predators don’t naturally prey on each other, but overlapping territory and lack of real prey can leave tensions high.
