Was super amused during shift tonight.

So. I’ve felt kinda blegh all day, so I dressed comfy, right? Thick, kinda dated looking sweater. Brought my favorite shawl. Not because I was cold. It just felt like a layer of comfort. So I’m sitting there, with my terrible posture, layered to heck looking like a tiny abuelita.

And I’m knitting a shawl, lace of course, so I’m squinty and generally just. Granny.

These guys, a lil herd of frat bros, begins to gather and stare. I help them check into a study room, but they don’t disperse. They are Intrigued.

This happens sometimes. So I show them that I am knitting and they are impressed. They’re watching me knit like I’m a tiny magical witch. Then I hold it out and spread out my shawl. It’s lace! They’re Shocked and Amazed.

I watch as they look at each other and shuffle around like nervous penguins. A tiny voice comes out from the crowd. “Can I touch it?”

I’m cool with it so long as no one is allergic to wool. Several curious hands touched the lace then backed away.

I proceeded to show them the half finished sweater in my bag. They Lost Their Minds. Similarly they wanted to touch. Again. That’s fine. I got a few curious questions and then off went the lil bro herd to go study.

Adorable. Such a wholesome interaction. Not once was I asked if I take commissions. Absolutely perfect. 10/10 makes up for terrible start of the week.
