Hey buddy? Can monsters die of a broken heart? Is it possible for monsters to die of sadness? Emotions can either increase or decrease the production of important hormones such as adrenaline. Adrenaline has the effect of narrowing the main arteries, putting a person in a situation where they may die of heart failure. Humans can die of sadness and a broken heart. I just wanted to know about the monsters can die of sadness and a broken heart.
Honestly, this is a simple yet kind of difficult question to answer. But I appreciate questions like this, so I’ll do my best.
In short; No, but maybe if the chances are right.
We know that monsters’ souls run off of emotion and what magic their bodies can create to hold them together. Such as Undyne’s DETERMINATION to stay alive. But we can also see that Asgore’s heartbreak didn’t kill him, and neither did Toriel’s grief after her children’s deaths. Then again they were boss monsters and not the common breed.
If it was grief from the death of a loved one, I can see that a common monster may come close to dusting if they feel that there’s nothing else for them in this world. Maybe their HP would drop or their attacks would get unnaturally weak, or even to the point of falling down. (This I would say is the most likely scenario.)
(In case you are unsure, ‘falling down’ means to loose all hope and dreams in their lives, then fall into a comatose-like state where they aren’t going to dust but they’re most likely not going to wake up. Though there’s no absolute proof that this is entirely the case, I feel it’s okay to assume this is true.)
Now to get back on track, shock may be the correct case to make a monster dust on the spot from a broken heart. Perhaps if someone they trusted suddenly back-stabbed them. Examples of this would be often seen in the genocide run from monsters we wouldn’t expect to be so easily killed by such a weak weapon at that point in the game.
This isn’t to say a monster couldn’t suffer nearly identical to a human from a broken heart and suffering, it’s simply to state directly what I know. Take all of this information and use it as you will.

This is a pale SOUL I can’t see whether they would be heroic or even a villain to a certain extent, depending upon how they view the world and how it treated monsters. Revenge, however, would be very common in their lives. FIGHTing where they saw fit and SPAREing where they preferred to. They would never kill an unarmed monster. Honestly, they probably have a code they would rather suffocate than disobey with how they treat others.
HONOR may be shy and a little nervous sometimes, but other points they could just scream. Maybe bipolar in the slightest with their actions.
Anything could be their weapon, but their armor would be something that makes them feel happy. Special. Protected.
This one is a neutral-strict player. I doubt they could go any further either way.

This unique SOUL is in-between Integrity and Patience, to create a new trait entirely. I would consider it to be true honesty to their mind and view, or CANDOR.

Now I can’t say that this human wouldn’t appear to have an ego to others, but they really prefer that everyone just try to see things the way they do. And they’re willing to wait eternity if they have to for someone to do so. In fact, this human would probably be content trying everything they can just to find the correct way to spare a monster or help somebody.
This Human would be one to taste a little of everything, and try at your patience a little sometimes. Though that doesn’t mean that they aren’t the life of the party sometimes! They just need to take a moment and laugh.
With an armor object that can have two purposes, like a vest or a pair of glasses and a weapon like a journal or a pen, this person knows how to be prepared for anything.
Any sort of run would be putty in their hands, though they’d probably progress from a neutral run to a much more complex run.

This soul is pure, concentrated PATIENCE for the better or the worse. It’s a bright one.
There isn’t too much to say about this one since somebody could simply magnify the traits of a patience soul near twofold. They’re probably anxiety-ridden half the time that they waited too long to do something or maybe not long enough, that sort of thing.
Possibly a very kind person under all of their gritted mental restraint. Somebody who can take their time on something, but soon get very worried they’re taking too long, then decide to rush a little then go slow again. A very conflicted person.
Their weapon would be a toy they see to be something they can protect themselves with, and their armor would be an accessory they wear all the time.
And for what runs they would do? Spastic. Just... back and forth. Undecided.

This is a soul closest to the one of KINDNESS, but has small factors of a PATIENCE soul inside of it.

A human with a soul of this color is one I see to be a very kindhearted person, with warmth they prefer to spread to other people instead of to themselves. Very selfless. They would rather die at least ten times before they would truly hurt a person past repair, physically or mentally unless they’ve been worked up to stressful conditions and anxiety.
This doesn’t mean they can’t have an occasionally rough exterior (or a constant one) so they won’t get hurt as quickly by others pain. But this isn’t too likely knowing these humans. They could actually be pretty easy to befriend.
For a weapon, definitely something like a lunchbox or a kit of some sort. For armor, probably a scarf or a big jacket.

Well each soul seems to have a certain style of music that can fit how it’s mind process works, show it’s being like clockwork.
Such as, Integrity souls would like certain types of classical, patience ones would love instrumentals mixed with lyrics, that sort of thing.Â

ASSURANCE. Stepping and watching, they would be careful where their feet trod on the ice.
This is someone who would be very focused when making very important decisions, who factors out what they can do. But in the end they would know that their choice was one that they made. One they can be sure of, no matter the doubt they feel. They’d be careful, but know that a promise is something worth keeping. No matter what.
All-in-all, befriending this person would be like having a new family member, a person you can trust to help you and who would be trusting in return. Fun with games like checkers and monopoly, too.

This SOUL is one I would like to call a near balance between DETERMINATION and PERSEVERANCE. Even though the shade is much more different than the true balance, but the traits are one I would like to say that they’re a unique case between them.
First of all this is a human who’s main abilities and factors shine through during calamity, which is why I would like to call them EQUANIMITY.
This is a person who benefits when the world’s burning around them while they’re not getting burned by being able to use the flames to their advantage. If someone’s in pain, it lets them prove their worth and skill by calming them down and becoming closer to them whether their words are true or not because they can learn about people. Learn how their gears work.
Though they’re a good string-puller, this doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings they’re trying to protect through their actions. In fact, they would probably express them visibly. They’re probably just afraid.
For an object, they would wear something that reminds them of their friends and family so I can’t pinpoint this one. Their weapon would probably be a toy or something like a playing card or dice.
As for runs? They would RESET to the point of breaking so they could understand and/or play with it all before ending with a true GENOCIDE run and abandoning it.

This soul is one closest to a red soul, a determination soul, but is one that lacks exactly how bright the resolve of the human is.
It’s a soul I’d like to call RESOLUTION, because this is a human that can be very sure of themselves and their decision while also be able to be moved by the words of others. They are a typically friendly person but if they’re put with something they, themselves, are against, they could quite possibly have to take a while before even attempting to talk to the person or they would just full-on try to convince them that they were wrong.
This doesn’t mean they’re cruel, they’re just very emotional and sure of themselves. But this emotional factor can often times be hidden by the human to try and make it so things won’t affect them as much.
The object that they would wield as a weapon would probably be one that they chose from the blue. One that they can’t help but grab when they feel threatened or frightened. Like a pencil or a tool like a hatchet.Their armor would probably be an item like a bracelet or an arm wrap to cover something.
Probably a Neutral run human and one very afraid to ACT, but very kind to those they spared.
