No one hate me when I say thisā¦
But the new tomodachi life is kinda boring.
I think that thereās certainly some areas that this game does great. I love how the miis are fully customizable (looks, gender, sexuality, expression, personality, family relationships, etc.). Itās a huge bonus from the previous game and I love it! But I also miss the chaotic whimsy of the original.
Hereās what I want back:
- The music hall
- The relationship forecast
- Wacky Questions
- Judgement Bay
- The ability to raise your miisā children
- All of the original level up items (and honestly the addition of a lot more level up items)
- The gift items
And thereās probably some stuff I forgot.
Once again, do I like the new one and I canāt seem to put it down? Absolutely, 100%. But it also seems extremely flat and it doesnāt have the same charm that the original does. I really do hope that thereās an update but knowing Nintendo, I doubt that theyāll give us one šš
Tomodachi Life living the dream - is it worth 59,99 $?
Tomodachi Life 2 Living the dream is a much anticipated game. So, much bigger was the disappointment. But what exactly makes this game a disappointment?
1. the Baby-Montage
This is definitely the biggest disappointment. In the 3DS version babies grew over 5 days and you had the option to interact with them due minigames over every stage of them growing up.
Now in Living the dream, you dont have any of that anymore. You only get a LAZY 2 Minute Montage.
1- you can only Name the child
2- erase the Make-Up if you dont like it
3- watch the boring montage video
4- suddenly the baby is grown and you can choose to have it move to the island or send it to nowhere
5- + if the suddenly adult Mii moves on the island its literally 0 years old despite being a fckn grown up. Like make the mii 18 or 21 atleast.
and thats all. Its a lazy montage, and it keeps on repeating. You could save yourself the waste of time and just literally create a mii and add Parental relations.
AND!!!
If the Mii Child lives on your island, parents literally have NO UNIQUE interaction but instead talk with their kids as if they are random strangers or friends.
2. ISLAND CREATION
in this game, you can literally create every aspect of your island. and still, its not enough.
In the 3DS game, you had different levels. And although, you couldnt customize anything yourself, nobody still complained about it. Now you can create the island yourself. But you have limited items to decorate the space, no levels and no different house options. You can draw different Houses but theyāre BLURRY, and dont have an exterior facade, makin them completely flat and unfitting to normal buildings.
and some people arenāt artistic to draw miiās or houses - and thats completely fine. but it doesnāt change anything about the fact, that Nintendo leaves you to do the whole work. And for a 60 dollar game, its absolutely ridiculous that you have to do everything.
3. MINIGAMES and INTERACTION HOUSES
i mean⦠WE DONT HAVE A CONCERT HALL WTF
we only have a well with no particular interactions but sleep and chatting, a ferrywheel, a restaurant and small items like benches. But no
-Music Hall
-City Hall
-no Tower (+ Question āWhoād rather..?ā Game)
-no beach mini game (this or that..?)
-no board with different rankings
-no Love/Friendship test
-no actual Amusement Park (Rollercoaster, Carussell)
And heres the thing: a sequel usually HAS to contain things that already existed in the prequel, because the game objectively would be worse already if certain aspects arent included anymore. and the game, pretty much is loveless.
4. HOBBY ITEMS
short point, but there arent enough different hobby items in my opinion. theres not enough variation and for a sequel, youād assume that logically, theyād add more gifts. but no, They dont.
Also its just boring how this game offers not enough buildings. Im honestly surprised, they didnt cut out the ferry wheel.. but still, the island has no personality - no matter how differently you decorate and style it.
5. BEFRIENDING SEQUENCES
in tomodachi 3DS, of course befriending sequences were limited. The game already Contained different features and you wouldnt mind the repetitive befriending animations. but in Living the dream, its literally the most bland, boring and most annoying aspect. The sequences are pretty limited and i think for a 2026 Videogame, that costs 60 dollars and that definitely looked promising and promised alot for the gamers, its literally just a huge disappointment, how they cut out on different befriending sequences and interactions. It just really aint it and makes people skip the whole befriending or meeting sequence because its repetitive and offers nothing interesting.
6. THE WISHING SYSTEM
what seemed like an immensily great implantation, turned out to be another disappointment real quick. After unlocking every wishing well item, you literally start hording wishes almost automatically that can only be spend on Tour-Tickets. And let me tell you something, as a 3DS Tomodachi Player. Although it was pretty difficult to ever redeem Travel Tickets, it was yet always thrilling when youād finally get one. and these tickets would actually increase a relationship of miiās. Now, you throw around tickets like they dont mean much and guess what, they really dont. the tickets dont change anything for the better.
but heres what confuses me the most about the wishing well system.
Some categories are shown as ācompleteā while others like the renovation- and island design centre and the island builder are just grey-ed out. As if something follows soon. But nothing does. As i said you can just spend it on travel tickets and nothing more. And these Tickets are annoying by now.
7. MARRIED MIIās and MOVING TOGETHER
Like in the original game for the 3DS, in living the dream, miiās can marry and move together. But you dont have to be married anymore to move together. Friends can also now share a space together. this feature could be considered as cool but it isnt. It really isnt.
Married miiās share the same housing kind as friends who live together. Seperate rooms (wtf theyāre literally married?!) and the absolutely same setup. Also married miiās often suggest to move in with a friend which is super weird and absolutely not realistic.
Married miiās should have UNIQUE housings, and share ONE bedroom. They literally missed on the opportunity for a childrens bedroom by the way.
I dont get why its impossible for nintendo to do that, when you can literally tend to a miiās problem by grabbing it, and putting it in a random miiās house. Like, wtf?! Why make this possible, but not THAT.
Also as i mentioned before, sometimes married miiās suddenly suggest to move out or with somebody else. Which is super weird.
CONCLUSIO:
Although you could definitely say, that this game is fun, it yet is pretty repetitive and boring after one day of playing it.
The Interactions between miiās are always the same and cause people to skip conversations and befriending sequences because its boring and pretty much a waste of time. The whole Family setup is unnecessary, now that married miiās dont necessarily live together in a Unique House anymore. And Babies? Absolutely the biggest waste of time, since they arenāt babies but just a repetitive montage that, after 2 minutes result in a grown child thats ready to move out.
At the end, you could really just say, that the game leaves you alone with every customization option. Youāre not limited in your creativity and yet, you completely ARE limited in your creativity. You can design the looks of the island and houses but you will still find yourself to be mildly annoyed, since there arent enough exterior items and not enough housing styles to make a truly unique island with charm and personality.
Nintendo lets you pay 60 dollars just for you to sit on your shit and because shitty pokemon games lowered our standards, weāre completely fine with it. Im honestly surprised that we didnt have to code the game by ourselves. and in my opinion, itās absolutely not worth 60 $.
You could buy resident evil for the switch, for less money and have more fun with the game on the long run. Its truly disappointing, and if no update follows to fix the much criticized things, i honestly donāt see how this game will be a success on the long run. The 3DS version is already better than living the dream
Yeah I'm enjoying this game alright, they even added a new mode!
I had an incredible idea but unfortunately I was too lazy to do 100 percent accuracy. I was originally going to do it 100 percent accuracy but i decided I was too lazy to draw the square text by hand for this ough. I will probably move it to a different spot so I can do a McDonaldās parody ad or something.
Maybe Iāll also eventually remake it in the future? Who knows. Iāve seen really some impressive stuff made in this game and Iām surprised Iāve not seen anyone do this yet.
The Frin. Made this cutie for a super awesome oomf of mine who loves Siffrin so I can try to get them together and make them get married. I meant to post this a few hours earlier but forgot to since I was so caught up in the game, but was still going to get around to posting it eventually, so hereās a late post. I also updated my mii of myself today finally as well.
Iāve not actually played ISAT yet hence why this is more for them and I had to get them to help me out with the personality, but I would love to get around to playing it eventually. I know a lot of oomfs who love it and I genuinely had a ton of fun making this Siffrin mii and Iām really happy with how they turned out, they look so adorable. I can tell that which each mii I make thereās some more improvement, though itās still tricky with a mouse.
āThereās nothing else we can do with starfox since we are too creatively bankrupt to try anything else so hereās starfox 64 for the 5th or 6th time but now with āØmouse controls and a mocap tech demo⨠for 70 dollarsā
At least Peppy looks pretty good and is probably the most normal looking character here. Fox also looks okay I guess and general pepper looks alright. Honestly all the dogs seems to be translated well to this style. The ships and environments also look pretty damn good, but itās just star fox 64 again and they shadow dropped this direct 10 minutes before it was supposed to go live.
Another 30 years of Star Fox 64!!
Very cursed screenshot of some of my miis interacting.
Also hereās this horrifying image of taintussy mimicking Miku binder Thomas Jefferson during the date practice run event cutscene
Tomodachi Life is really fun and I would love to emulate the original someday since I never played it, however I think itās made for smaller play sessions cause LTD feels more repetitive than I expected. Some of my other criticisms are that everyone feels like they are far too nice or at the very least like they all get along with eachother way too easily, and I wish the different personalities had more of a focus. It feels like itās got some of the same flaws from Animal Crossing New Horizons, but I prefer this far, far more than New Horizons. I genuinely think the best part of this game is the mii painter and Iām glad that Iāve been improving at it. Though to be fair, I feel like the game was made for smaller play sessions.
Also Iām really upset that thereās not a polyamory option, PLEASE add one in an update (even though Iām not sure how to update my game through my emulator)
I think @matpat will enjoy this š
I hate that Iām actually kind of proud of this, I put way too much time and effort into this simply because I thought that having him on my island would be funny.
At the very least it means Iām improving at painting on here as well as overall mii making. I still got some more mii ideas I want to do soon. Hopefully I can get around to making more mascot horror slop miis so they can all be best buds
Currently going down my list of miis that I have in mind and when posting about the miku binder Thomas Jefferson Mii I completely forgot to post my mii of Strongbad from Homestar Runner, sorry buddy. So here he is reading a childrenās picture book. Iām hoping to get him some sunglasses.
He was pretty simple to make but I still made sure to take some time and put effort into him, so he ended up taking a lot longer to paint than i expected, especially since again; Iām using a mouse.
Also him speaking normally since I canāt do his voice 1-1 (I.e. his speech mannerisms) is still so jarring to me, it always catches me off guard š
Saw a few different people doing this online so I know itās not an original idea at all in tomodachi life, but I felt inspired to do so anyway because it was still funny either way and Iāve been honestly improving at my mii making which is really good at least, especially considering Iām using a mouse which is an absolute nightmare.
I have ocs and stuff to work on but I keep procrastinating because i keep watching YouTube videos and playing tomodachi life and because im never proud of the actual stuff i make since character design is so hard lmao. This game is very fun, though of course I donāt think itās perfect and I do have a lot of criticisms for it but itās still very fun. I think the mii creator is the best part of it honestly.
Fighting with my intrusive thoughts lately feels like fight scene from the invincible comics
Everyone on my island in tomodachi life LTD keeps talking about sucking dick
Not sure if itās a problem with the emulator but my game saved just fine hours ago and my chikawa mii that I remade already spent hours on was there when I loaded in, but my Chikawa mii is gone AGAIN after having to make it 3 fucking times and Leon and I are no longer married and my construction I started on the new roads on my island is fucking gone.
I donāt think Iām going to play this game anymore if the emulator is not going to save my progress because this is becoming really demotivating and really fucking annoying and thereās not many alternatives out there other than buying a 800 dollar switch 2
Iām extremely happy with how Leon Kennedy turned out.
ALSO my mii got with together Leon Kennedy the other day and A.M. from IHNMAIMS joined the island after I spent too many hours working on him. AS I WAS WRITING THIS, THEY WENT ON A DATE HGFGFF
Leon Kennedy and I are now married and living a condo with our roommate (who is a rose toy) after dating for two whole days and are going to have fucked up looking babies. This truly is living the dream.
