I had a dream that I went to heaven and heaven had its own heaven-exclusive tv shows that were written and produced there in heaven and they showed me the most popular show in heaven and it was this really beautiful drama and, at the end of the episode, the credits said “Created by Mike Ehrmantraut” and they were like “oh yeah. fictional characters who die in earth media go to real heaven” and I’m like “sure but mike did some pretty fucked up stuff, wouldn’t he go to hell?” and they’re like “no, all the fucked up things he did were fictional. people only get judged for the real things they do and the only thing mike really did was bring joy to millions of viewers” and i think that’s beautiful

Once like a year ago I said that someone casually saying "this would be the first time since I was a kid that I don't get a new console at launch" about the switch 2 feels like a weird level of luxury to me and now every couple months I get an anon smugly pretending to be shocked about it.

Like it really can't be that to grasp hard that there are some people in the world to whom "buying every single vidya gaem console the very day it's released" sounds like kind of an insane luxury, right?

This is very much a rich kid thing, not a first world thing. I grew up US middle class, and that was rich kid stuff to me too. Most of my friends got to pick one console to have from each generation, eventually. Some got nothing until it was quite old, and they weren't really that poor. Rich people tend to get a lot of stuff for free, especially the kids, so they'd often fail to understand why someone wouldn't just have stuff like that.

No, I get it, I know that "buying every console at launch" is *already* an extravagant level of wealth even among other first-worlders, it's not exactly something the average moderately well-off first-worlder is able to afford either.

But I made the "I was born in the third world" quip because it's also worth pointing out when it comes to entertainment products such as videogames and consoles, something that's already considered "rich kid shit" in the US is like, Ultra Rich Kid Shit where I live. Like in the US the switch 2 release price is like maybe comparable to the price of a fancy restaurant dinner for 4-5 people, while in my country the switch 2 release price is like two and a half months of my rent.

#All of this is extremely true #To add onto what others said #the only console I have period is a used 3DS lol. Something that was also obtained fairly recently;#past when the store had already shut down.
