Recreational Witchcraftâs Sabbats Masterpost
I thought linking all of these in one post would be very useful for those of us who are stuck for ideas on celebrating the sabbats. Celebrate Yule
Celebrate Imbolc
Celebrate Ostara
Celebrate Beltane
Celebrate Midsummer
Celebrate Lammas
Celebrate Mabon
Celebrate Samhain
do you have a way to charm a necklace for protection? i'm a beginner witch and want to astral travel and the like, but i want protection.
A few ideas.Â
If you have yarrow growing near you, go and pluck 10 blades from the yarrow. The 10th shall be left for the spirits, and the ninth shall be placed into one of your shoes (the right shoe). Take the rest and burn them. Smother the necklace in the smoke, and bury it in the ashes for 3 nights.
Take the necklace and sit in the sunlight. You will state Psalm 35 (line 1 through 9) 3 times. Upon the third and final time, you will anoint a cross upon the necklace with salt water (or holy water)
âAgainst an evil eye; An evil tongue; An evil mind. The merciful word; The singing word; And the good word. May the power of these three holy things be on thee.â say this charm when you are completely alone. No one must hear you. And once this is said 9 times, you must never say this phrase again, for the 10th time will undo the power.
Take three stones: one white, one black, one red. You shall go to a body of water and do as following. âThe first I cast for sight,â throw the white stone into the water. âThe second I cast for wisdom,â throw the black stone into the water. âThe third I cast for power,â throw the red stone into the water. âThe last I cast for ever lasting safety,â take the necklace and dip it into the water. Make certain that not a drop touches your skin. Wrap the necklace with a cloth and take it home.
Simple Protection Amulet
This is an enchantment spell I wrote a while ago for that lil extra protection boost. Iâve done this spell three times, for three different people (including myself), and itâs worked every time. This spell is especially good for baby witches and closet witches. Keep in mind that this isnât a super strong spell, itâs kind of like the first piece of armour you buy in a video game. Although itâs not particularly powerful, itâs definitely one of my favourite charms - I like to take it with me when I go travelling, or when I stay the night at someoneâs house, so that if I start sensing negative energies I can wear it and have some instant protection magic happening! (note: i have included extra steps for wiccans - just ignore them if youâre not wiccan; although obviously, wiccans are fully-welcome to use the non-wiccan method if they wish to do so)
⼠gather: black pepper (protection, inner strength, warding), whole cloves (protection, curse-breaking), salt (protection), any protective crystal (e.g. snowflake obsidian, fire agate, black tourmaline, etc; this item is optional), a small bowl, a necklace* to enchant
⼠cast a circle, if you wish to (totally optional)
⼠if youâre wiccan, call upon the god and goddess, and give them an offering (e.g. seeds, bread, fresh juice) and ask for them to assist you with this spell
⼠mix the pepper, cloves and salt together in a bowl - the person who will be wearing the amulet should stir using their finger (on their dominant hand) to mix in their energies
⼠next, the person who will be wearing the amulet should bury the necklace in the mixture
⼠wave your hand over the bowl once, anti-clockwise, and say:     wiccan version    i ask the God and the Goddess,    the all-father and all-mother,    to bless this necklace, so that    the wearer, (say name), may be    protected from ill & injury.    witch version    by cleansing salt and earth-grown herb,    beware, destructive beings of woe!    you are kept from (wearerâs name),    by this objectâs midnight glow ⼠wave your hand over the bowl once, clockwise, to seal the spell
⼠(wiccans, thank the god & goddess and dismiss them)
⼠you can now remove the amulet from the bowl, and dispose of the herbs/salt inside (keeping the crystal, obviously)
*it should be noted that any other piece of jewelry can be used: a ring, a bracelet, earrings, a brooch, etc.
Hecate
Hecate or Hekate (Greek áźÎşÎŹĎΡ) is a goddess in Greek religion and mythology, most often shown holding two torches or a key and in later periods depicted in triple form. She was variously associated with crossroads, entrance-ways, dogs, light, the Moon, magic, witchcraft, knowledge of herbs and poisonous plants, necromancy, and sorcery. She is a pre-Olympian chthonic goddess and appears in the Homeric Hymn to Demeter and in Hesiodâs Theogony, where she is promoted strongly as a great goddess. In the post-Christian writings of the Chaldean Oracles (2nd-3rd century CE) she was regarded with (some) rulership over earth, sea and sky, as well as a more universal role as Saviour (Soteira), Mother of Angels and the Cosmic World Soul. She was one of the main deities worshiped in Athenian households as a protective goddess and one who bestowed prosperity and daily blessings on the family. source | edit
To further eloborate, the âtripleâ form of her statues were generally placed at crossroads and were metaphorical, in that she was watching over all paths. She is NOT a Maiden-Mother-Crone figure.
Animal Protection Spell
A spell for protection for all your animal friends and familiars in your life.
What Youâll Need:
Sage (White Sage is endangered so I used a sage scented candle as to not further the harm)
A sprig of Juniper large enough to lay across a candle (if you pick this fresh, be sure to thank the tree for aiding you)
A green candle (if you didnât substitute one in earlier. White also works)
Step One: Gather as many of your animals together in one area as possible. For those not able to be present you can take the blessing to them at a later point.
Step Two: Lay the sprig of Juniper (and the sage if you have it natural) across the candle top near the wick but not smothering it. Light the candle and let the flame reach up and burn away at the juniper.
Step Three: Walk a circle around the area with your candle and chant the following:
Juniper protect them from ills inside and out From matters of heart to matters of doubt
May their days be long as your branches are tall And may my love for them protect them from any and all
Burn on, burn bright, let my magic cast its spell Against every harm let this enchantment repell
Let them be happy Let them be healthy Let their lives be filled with fun And now with this fervent wish Let this spell for them be done
Step Four: For any animals not present at the circle, this is the time to take a blessing to them. Hold your hand above the candle and let it soak in the energies of the smoke from the burning juniper. Then press your hand (finger if itâs a smaller friend) to the head of the animal and say I protect thee.
Step Five:Â Let the candle burn itself out naturally and the spell is done.
âIt Will Be Okayâ Spell
A spell to help ease anxiety.
You Will Need:
đ Chamomile Tea đ Sugar or honey đ Cut up cherry
Steps:
đ While your tea steeps carefully cut and de-pit a cherry or two
đ In your hot tea stir in your sugar or honey clockwise.Â
đ âThings seem hard, things are stressful, but I know deep down, things will be okay.â repeat this as you desire
đ Add in your cherries and continue stirring repeating âThings will be okayâ
đ Find a calm quiet place you enjoy being and drink you tea.Â
đ Afterwards do something you enjoy that is also calming. Take a bath, watch a movie, read a book, watch the rain, listen to music, write in a journal; whatever makes you smile.
âI Send You Safetyâ Spell
A spell to send a friend or loved one protection and safety.
You Will Need:
â Salt â Rosemary â Angelica â Dandelion Fluff â Blue Lace Agate, Carnelian, or Garnet â Name of your friend on a slip of paper â White Sachet
Steps:
â Fill your sachet with the herbs, friendâs name and piece of crystal of your choice
â âI send you protection from all that may harm you, I send you the wish of safety, I send you the energies to keep you out of harms way.â
â Tie your sachet shut and gently kiss it it focusing on your desires to send your friend protection
â place your sachet in a window, if you can crack the window open to help send the energies to your friend.Â
Quick Protection Spell
Add garlic, basil, and salt into a square of foil.
Fold the square into a small envelope.Â
Use a pencil to write the name of the person you are protecting onto the envelope (gently to not tear)
To speed the spell along, place in a heated oven until the herbs become fragrant
Carefully removed and set aside in a safe place

IKIGAI MORNING RITUAL (BE HAPPY AGAIN!)
This is a personal ritual I created to practice right after I wake up (when Iâm not running late) and it has changed my life for the better! I find that Iâm happier, healthier, more at peace, and more confident in myself. Before you begin practicing this ritual on a daily basis (or occasional basis), youâll need to create your own affirmation list. Donât worry, Iâll walk you through it!
EXAMPLE AFFIRMATION MANTRA
This first part is generic and can be used by anyone. It is used to bring you to the happy, peaceful present and ground you in it! Each time you perform this part of the ritual, you will want to fill in the blanks with what you sense around you. Really take a moment to feel your reality.
âI welcome the morning with a smile.
I breathe in the light.
I exhale all suffering.
I am present in all that I do.
I hear ___________.
I see ____________.
I smell __________.
I taste ___________.
I feel ___________.â
This next part is customizable. Youâre going to be coming up with positive statements that make up who you want to be/who you are. For me, itâs more effective if I say them out loud. You always want to start your affirmation with âI amâ and you must always be positive in your wording. You can also add things like, âI am strong enough to continue to overcome my past addiction to cigarettesâ or âI am successful in my career.â Anything you want to work on, or just reaffirmâlist it here! Below is an example.Â
âI am.
I am beautiful and confident.
I am happy and healthy.
I am loving and kind.
I am strong and brave.
I am creative and motivated.
I am intelligent and wise.
I am magic.
I am.â
Whether you believe in a higher power or believe solely in yourself, you will pay a sort of tribute to that here. Affirm that you are protected and guided in any way you please. Hereâs an example.
âI am guided and protected by the Universe,
My higher self,
The wise, white hound,
The intelligent black omen,
The winged, night creator,
And the Under-gate guard.
We are. We are. We are One.â
This is where you end your affirmations by affirming your beliefs. This is an example of mine:
âAs above, so below.
As below, so above.
Nothing is definite,
Everything is possible.
So it was. So it is. So it will forever be.â
PERFORMING THE RITUAL
Now that youâve written out your daily affirmation mantra (which you can alter/upgrade at anytime), you can begin performing your ritual!Â
âSTEP 1
Begin by setting the mood with binaural beats that produce positive feelings. I prefer to play happy binaural beats in the mornings. Hereâs a link to my favorite happy sound.
âSTEP 2
You should then cleanse the area. I used a palo santo stick that I let burn out in my mini cauldron. It offers a scent that you can focus on while grounding your senses. You can also use components such as incense or sage if you see fit.
âSTEP 3
At this point I light an appropriate colored candle. A good color for this ritual is yellow, which stands for creativity, inspiration, concentration, logic, learning and action. The light of a yellow candle brings one closer to attaining the cheerfulness, endurance, stability and security they crave.
â STEP 4
Ring a bell to further clear the air and ease yourself into a meditative state. If you donât have a bell or tone-object such as a gong or Tibetan singing bowl, you can whistle or hum a singular tone that makes you feel focused, calm, and happy.
â STEP 5
Sit cross legged (or lotus position if youâre able), with your back straight, and perform an appropriate mudra. A mudra is a symbolic or ritual gesture in Hinduism and Buddhism. Itâs a spiritual gesture and an energetic seal of authenticity. While some mudras involve the entire body, most are performed with the hands and fingers. I use Ksepana Mudra, which directs negative energy out of the body, and brings in positive energy. To practice ksepana mudra, place your hands in your lap and interlace the fingers of both hands and then release the index fingers. The index fingers are touching one another. The thumbs are crossed and the thumb pads rest, more or less, in the crook between thumb and index finger. When seated and practicing this mudra the index fingers should gently point downward.Â
âSTEP 6
Now you read your personalized affirmation mantra. After every line, practice the 4-7-8 breathing exercise. The 4-7-8 breathing exercise is utterly simple. Place the tip of your tongue against the ridge of tissue just behind your upper front teeth, and keep it there through the entire exercise. You will be exhaling through your mouth around your tongue; try pursing your lips slightly if this seems awkward.
Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound.
Close your mouth and inhale quietly through your nose to a mental count of four.
Hold your breath for a count of seven.
Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound to a count of eight.
Reflect deeply on everything you say while you do this. Really feel it!
âSTEP 7
When youâve finished, you may sit and meditate for as long as you like or end the ritual quickly by blowing out your candle and ringing your bell! Now donât you feel ready to take on the world?Â

Cheap Spell
I saw a lot of spells (on Tumblr, online blogs, books) that require a lot of expensive or fancy items; while thatâs ok for people who can afford those ingredients, other cannot. In other cases, some herbs or crystals are uncommon for some areas, and this makes spells difficult to organize.
Thatâs why I decided to post some cheap spells that require from 0 to 3 (common) ingredients.
Auctus Lunae  - Luck spell
You may need:
Best moon phase: Waxing MoonÂ
Best day of the week: Friday
During sunset (optional, you can choose to cast this spell during sunset OR under waxing moon)Â
Paper or leaves (any kind with luck property)
SETTING
Perform this spell during the waxing moon or sunset.
CHARGING AND CASTING
Draw this sigil on paper or leaf. If youâre using paper, you can also kiss it to charge. Burn, but be careful. (fire is an activating force, itâs used for set things into motion, and draw specific energies.) or bury (you can bury an object if you want to attract something to you; in particular, you can bury in under the front door)Â
If youâre using a candle -Â After you burnt the sigil, blow out the candle, donât try visualization while the candle is burning.
AFTER
Visualize a bright light around where you buried the sigil, or around ashes. Thank the elements. I hope you like this spell and you find it easy to organize and cast! Send me an ask here (if you would like more cheap spells or if you have any suggestions about intents), or on my group blogs:
https://beginnersfriendlywitch.tumblr.com (Mod SapphirĂŚ) https://pots-potions-more.tumblr.com (Mod DÄa) Thank you so much!
day 1; a calming spell
(a small chant to get you through the day)
in day or night
through fear or pain
give me rest
and not in vain
close my eyes
and calm my heart
pour my soul
into my art
so calm these bones
lay quiet my soul
and give me strength
to reach my goal
Down The Sink Spell
The purpose of this spell is to quickly alleviate yourself of lingering regrets and ill-feelings caused by another person, and to have them recognize their guilt and grow from it. **THIS IS NOT A REVENGE SPELL** nor is it meant to make a person come back to you! A side effect could be an apology, but it isnât necessarily going to happen. If they do not and you still feel wanting, try looking for different spells to release yourself!
I made this spell rather quickly with what I had on hand because I wanted to just be over and done with this all. That said, the spell could be improved by doing it on certain nights or with additional water-linked items. Iâm also not a poet, so my couplets are a bit⌠off, but should work fine nonetheless.
You will need:
A sink (preferably bathroom as these are small and easy to handle)
Salt/Rosemary (or other similar herb/s) mixture = nine pinches
Other herbs, flowers, crystals, items, etc, you wish to incorporate into the ritual
Procedure:
Place the salt/herb mixture to the side, and arrange all other items. Fill the sink up with water and ensure that the drain is fully stopped before beginning.
Envision the person you wish to release yourself from, and recite the spell three times. Either toss in a pinch with each couplet or three at the end of one full recital. The spell goes:
My anger, hate, and all sorrow
I wish tonight/today to let them go
With no ill will, wish not revenge
Nor intent to make amends
Just know your guilt, and guilty be
Thus from your shackles, I am free
Following this, drain all the water from the sink. If you can slowly drain it, then try to say the next three couplets while it drains. If not, drain and say them after. Again, repeat the spell three times:
Water, carry to their mind
So no longer they stay unkind
May they apologize to me
Or if more suited, leave me be
Through recognition comes release
This time tomorrow, we shall know peace
As the last couplet implies, by the time you cast the spell the next day, it will be completed. This is in case it takes the person a long time to realize and come to terms with what they did, and to make peace with it. Since the point of the spell is to leave both parties with a sense of peace, we donât want to rush it! If you want to remove the time limit, you can - just be wary as you may find yourself wondering if it ever did work or if you should still be waiting for that maybe-apology.Â
Following the spell, you can do anything else youâd like. Iâd recommend thanking your deities if you have any, or any higher powers you called on to put the spell into action. I personally ended it by thanking any who had heard my spell, just to keep it simple.Â
And thatâs that! I donât do spells often, so feedback is appreciated! If you try the spell or some variant of it, let me know!
