Hazard had spent the entire night and all morning agonizing over how the trip would proceed. It wasn’t as if she weren’t capable of leaving the city, seeing as she’d survived on her own for at least a year out there in the unforgiving plains, deserts, and tundras of Pandora, it was that she hadn’t done it while in the company of other, and certainly not after experiencing the luxuries of Sanctuary.
Her little one-room apartment felt particularly cramped, for being as empty as it was, as she imagined leaving the walls and guards and venturing back out into that huge world. It would be so open and wide, she couldn’t possibly imagine what it would be like to go exploring the unknown again. She’d left to sneak eridium away from bandit camps, sure, but those were all as close as possible to the city and she only left for a day or a night at a time. This was…. a real trip.
And with the real Sirens. Hazard gazed into a mirror, tugging at her cheeks and staring at the dark circles under her eyes, before leaving her tiny bathroom and fussing for the thousandth time over her pack and the money, supplies, and eridium she’d packed. Her lone shotgun rested next to it, while her pistol waited for her to tuck it away beneath her jacket. She was going to be with the three real Sirens on Pandora the entire time, and in such close quarters, it wouldn’t be long before they discovered, if they didn’t already know, that she wasn’t one of them.
It was one of the most terrifying things she could imagine.
Satisfied with all she had, the girl shakily pulled on her pack, combed her bangs over one eye, and slipped out of her door, locking it tightly behind her. Her gait was a half-jog, half-hop, half-run, alternating as she slipped past the citizens, wanting to avoid unnecessary conversation. They tended not to speak to her, nor she them, but when they did, she generally felt it necessary to run and hide, or cry, and that simply wasn’t in her plan for the day.
But not all her plans fell through, unfortunately. Approaching the gathering group, she felt a lump rise in her throat. The three Sirens, Lilith, Maya, and Angel. She would be alone with all three of them until others appeared. She silently held up a reluctant hand in greeting, moving to stand beside (and somewhat behind) Lilith, as if she were trying to hide.
