A quick post about how Pen is written in Bfdi 15 and how I think it's (a little) more interesting than a simple write out
I'm actually going to start off with Bfdi 4 as both episodes parallel eachother and to leave it out of this discussion would be kinda silly.
Quick summary of what happens in Sweet tooth:
- blocky gets eliminated
- Pen and eraser leech off of Leafy
- eraser turns to Pen for help
- Pen and eraser have to go on a side quest to get change
- Announcer does NOT accuse any of them of cheating
CAS isn't that relevant but I still included it for something later. Notice how eraser leads the conversation more while Pen is off to the side following along? Also he litteraly says "will you do it for me"
In Bfdi 3 where they *explicitly* cheated, Blocky is the one who not only stole the test answers but also suggested to copy them. Pen does seem a bit hesitant? But he still goes along either way
When I say this don't take it as me absolving her of her actions but moreso just pointing how he isn't usually the one the act out first.
Also might I add Pen and Leafy look at each other like this in Bfdi 6?? I wonder if it had to do with what happened in Sweet tooth
Fast foward to vomitaco:
-Eraser gets eliminated
-Pen leeches off of leafy (by herself!!)
-Announcer calls out Pen for cheating
-Pen is put in the danger zone and thus being up for elimination
I'm just going to straight up quote one of my posts and while I don't find it as relevant in this conversation, I still wanted to bring it up as it could potentially colerate with his actions later on in the episode
Leafy and Pen's attitude is a lot different here. It goes the same until Pen calls her his uh servant which visibly upsets leafy and like Pen already expected to pay but leafy just seems so irritated at that point. I don't think she wanted to deal with Pen any longer
I imagine she was already ticked off by Pen's (anderasers) actions in sweet tooth but that servant line is probably what pushed her over the edge knowing how they've treated her before.
What I find most interesting about Pen's behavior in this episode is how reminiscent it is to eraser's and I'm not just talking about sweet tooth. Throghout Bfdi he's notorious for leeching off of others and I made a whole post about it too and to see Pen slowly start acting like him is kinda interesting. Obviously wouldn't want him to be an eraser clone and I doubt he could ever be *exactly* like him butidkhek. Leafy, I wish leafy was paired up with them more I wonder what she thinks I miss them
The elephant in the room, Announcer accuses Pen of cheating. I'm not going to justify it and I know it's the most damning edivence that they were just trying to get her out this episode. It makes no sense for His actions in sweet tooth to be okay but then be considered cheating in Vomitaco. he was put against rocky and bubble, two characters who weren't really antagonized (or at least in that episode).
Part of me wants to believe they were genuinely just trying to develop her character into something different but the way that it's rubbed in your face how Pen cheated and the very sudden change in attitude is what really throws me off. If they genuinely weren't trying to get him out then putting him up for elimination after THAT was just a really dumb idea Imao
I'm just really upset because it's like. Part of me knows that it was only them trying to get her out but also I want to believe they were cooking something but also Ihave to be rational
