Reasons for why Mrs Danvers and Rebecca were in love and in a relationship

Part 2 -Spoilers

That's Mrs Danvers face when she sees the Rebecca's dead body. That's grief and sadness. She still had hope that Rebecca was alive but now her hopes are absolutly crushed. Not one single person had such an extreme reaction. She even had to leave because she just couldn't stand it.

Mrs Danvers doesn't include herself. It's a kind of you against us situation. Danny always saw herself on Rebecca's side and we know that Mrs Danvers despised all of them as well. They both were a unit that felt as though they stood against the despised rest.

Mrs Danvers is taking specifically about the men and how they were playthings. She doesn't say that everybody was a plaything and therefore unimportant to Rebecca. It was only the men. That makes it possible that Rebecca did have a deeper connection to women or one woman in particular-our Danny

Also it seems as though Mrs Danvers is somehow trying to convince herself that the men didn't mean anything to Rebecca. Maybe she was always a bit jealous.

MY Rebecca! DID YOU HEAR THAT!?! Mrs Danvers thinks of Rebecca as her Rebecca. There has to be a deeper connection between the two. A normal servant even a devoted one would never use such a term of endearment or possession. Rebecca belonged to Danny and Danny belonged to Rebecca.
