Human/Mad Dr Blake x Mermaid Yang
A rushed, teensy-weensy bit of background:
Blake led a research team in pursuit of samples from a sunken ship, intrigued by the myths of a sea monster. Her fascination with the extraordinary often led her to envision dissecting mythical creatures. During that expedition around the same area, they noticed their ship began to sway more than usual. Blake decided it was best to leave but then their ship was rapidly sinking.
Just as the rumors Blake heard, a large beast had pierced through it the same as it had done so to all other ships that passed.
Seeing the ship sink, Yang, a mermaid who lived near the reef Blake decided to explore, quickly saved everyone she could.
The last person she grabbed was Blake, Yang was quick to notice how beautiful she was, and due to that, she kept her under water longer than intended. Yang had decided to pull her farther away from the rest of the crew she saved. She simply wanted a better look of Blake.
Once on land, safe from the eyes of other humans, Yang observed the woman.
She remembered reading a human book once. It had many handy tips on how to keep humans safe. There, she learned of CPR. After all, humans had a limited time when underwater.
Yang performed chest compressions, a few seconds of it was enough, Blake coughed out water and Yang took that as her sign to leave, but she was held back.
Blake, eyes blurry and tired, she asked for her glasses. Yang understanding, gave a nod and left to find and bring her glasses back. Minutes later, Yang came back and returned the glasses. Blake looked at the woman and offered her hand.
Yang saw it as a sign of gratitude. Blake, on the other hand, took the opportunity and pulled on Yang. She dragged her and pinned her. Yang tried to fight her off, but Blake had a scalpel to her neck.
Blake finally got what she wanted, a mythical beast.
A mermaid. A mermaid who saved her life and returned her glasses.
That day, since the mermaid saved her life, Blake would spare hers.
Eventually, Blake would occasionally visit the same shore she was saved on and hope to see the mermaid. Yang herself did the same, observed her from the distance careful to not be caught.
After weeks of doing this, Blake had decided to set out to the sea again, alone this time. She thought it best that instead of waiting around, she'd just catch her. And she did. Yang had swam a bit too high up, and was just barely visible to Blake. Blake didn't expect it to be the mermaid, but she'd take her chances, she threw the net and brought her back up to the boat.
Blake examined her closely at first, the net keeping Yang tangled and powerless. She dragged her inside a room within the ship. It was almost empty, aside from the chair and metal bed.
Blake had tied up Yang, and again took out a scalpel from a bag. She kept it near Yang's neck, but didn't move a muscle.
She could not risk making any mistake, and the boat was not the ideal place to perform a dissection.
While Blake was out steering her boat back to shore, Yang tried to escape. She was able to remove her restraints, but she was out of luck when it came to opening the door. It was locked from the outside.
Once arrived to shore, Blake unlocked the door to where Yang was, Yang threw the chair at her. That bought her some time and she tried to drag herself away. But Blake had gripped on to her tail.
But Blake had the upper hand, she sedated Yang and waited until she were unconscious.
Once again, Yang was tied up, this time in a bigger room, full of gadgets she's never seen. Sharp objects, images of organs hanging on walls as well as sea creatures in glass cases flashing their insides. Then she saw Blake, a mask covered her nose and mouth, her hair was tied back and she was in a white gown.
Aside from the fear of dying Yang was feeling, she was also in awe of the beauty that was about to leave her the same as the creatures showcased around the room. Blake put her gloves on, mumbled an apology, something about not having any more anesthesia. After all, she was doing this in a private room of her house, she was not about to release her findings to the world and she could not risk her job by stealing chemicals from the lab back at her workplace.
As she pressed down, Yang pleaded her to stop. And she did. Blake set down her scalpel and removed her mask.
She hadn't expected the mermaid to talk. Especially not human language. Blake began to ask question after question. And Yang only kept quiet.
Yang was not used to speaking. No mermaid was. They didn't speak like normal humans would, and they certainly didn't know much of human language. Yang only learned thanks to curiosity getting the best of her, secretly listening in to human conversations, learning their alphabet and reading books and notes left behind of sunken ships.
Blake had then proposed an offer to Yang. She'd let her live if she was willing to answer all her questions and help her catch the beast that has been rumored around town.
Yang wanted to agree, but the beast she spoke of was far too dangerous to approach. She explained the dangers of the beast, and how it could kill her. Blake assured her she could take it, with help of course.
Yang agreed to help, the beast had also been terrorizing her home.
They fought it, but by doing so they realized more beasts similar to it had began to rise.
After a while they found the culprit (Salem) of who has been creating the beasts. Blake n Yang defeat her and Blake decides Salem was a close enough specimen to a mermaid and dissected her.
After all that fiasco, Blake and Yang would meet regularly by the shore, they'd talk, it was mostly Blake asking questions of mermaid culture and Yang doing her best to answer.
Eventually Yang realizes that she feels so much more for Blake, and just meeting for a couple of hours every day is not enough. So during one of their usual meet-ups, she drags her into the sea and pulls her down. She does what she can to keep Blake from drowning, but after seeing her flail and trying to pull away to swim up, she figured it'd be futile to have her.
They talk out their feelings, Yang confesses, and Blake returns the sentiment.
They work out ways to stay together, and Blake suggested buying a house near the shore. They would use a wheelchair to help Yang move around when she wasn't in the sea.
I kinda wanted to end it on an angsty note, like Yang accidentally drowning Blake, but... 🤷🏻♀️
Maybe if I decide to actually write out this whole idea.
And even if I did, I basically kinda just spoiled the ending lmao.
