Happy Indigenous Peoples Day!
Across the United States, there are 556 federally recognized American Indian and Alaska Native nations. Each one has it’s own unique history and culture. American education has not bothered to tell us that Native people lived in peace and effectively governed themselves before the Europeans came along. American education has not informed us that Native Americans have been slighted ever since, not even being recognized as citizens (despite the fact that they were here first) until the 20th century.
But we don’t have to push these facts aside. We can stop celebrating a man that began a genocide and a terrible theft of land and culture, and start celebrating Indigenous Peoples for their rich history and their equal contributions to society.
To all Indigenous Peoples out there: we’re glad you’re here!
We will stand with you in your continued battle to be recognized as legitimate human beings instead of the stereotypes perpetuated by Columbus and those that came after him.
Good Morning/ Afternoon
I hope everyone got a fantastic night of sleep and are well rested awesomeness!
You don’t need me to tell you that the weather is changing, so make sure you drink lots of fluids. Tea, juice, and most importantly, water!
Please spread the kindness and look after and check in on one another!
That thing you’re nervous about? You CAN do it!
Always remember:
~ Self Care/Love & NOT Self Harm/Hate
For those who need a helpful reminder:
- Make sure drinking plenty of water.
- Make sure you’re eating and making healthy choices.
- Make sure you’re taking your medicine(s).
- Make sure you’re keeping your body clean.
- Make sure you’re keeping a tidy living space.
- Make sure you’re taking frequent breaks.
- Make sure you’re remembering to pay your bills.
- Make sure you’re brushing your teeth.
Remember: You are worth it and not alone.
Those with cars: Make sure to check your tire pressure and fluids!
Have a great day!

1.) What do you really want? Sit down quietly and make a list… the juice starts flowing near the end and this is your goal.
2.) How do you want to feel? Visit + assist yourself in this, daily, even if it’s just a consideration
3.) What are you most grateful to have every day? This is your garden - water it, weed it, tend to it always. The garden that gives is the garden that has been taken care of, and as it sometimes goes with gardening… it’s not always easy.
4.) What do you do that fulfills you, even with no money involved? Develope, invest and dive in to this skill. Consider this your living work - how can you expand on this to support you?
5.) What does your cyclical mind have to say about that (that being: making a living doing something you love + working toward what you really want + feeling good)? Notice the dialogue - there are hints hidden in this conversation that speak to what holds you back in some way.
6.) With all this in mind + heart - what can you do today? Small or large, contribute. Tomorrow is here.
“young adult dystopian novels are so unrealistic lmao like they always have some random teenage girl rising up to inspire the world to make change.”
a hero emerges
And just like in the novels, grown men and women are going out of their way to destroy her. Support our hero.
And it’s not even like it doesn’t happen regularly.
Teenage girls are amazing.
Sometimes they’re not even teenagers

This isn’t a coincidence. Revolutions almost always happen when the population of a country is at its youngest and that’s a lot more true nowadays with social media.
Never have I ever reblogged something so fast and wholeheartedly BE A BITCH IF IT MEANS BEING SAFE, THEY AIN’T WORTH IT
Can you please reblog if your blog is a safe place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, asexual, aromantic, pansexual, non binary, demisexual or any other kind of queer or questioning people? Because mine is.
Ever since I was 15 years old I never thought I would study at the University of Regensburg. In fact, I despised the idea of that so much, when there was any option of interacting with people advising about the option of studying at the UR I would actively avoid them. Now I’m finishing my first year here.
Here’s what I learnt so far:
… On Studying:
- It’s basically impossible to keep pretty notes while in class. Gotta accept that fact. BUT it’s managable to keep your notes pretty, once you revise them directly after class or once you’re studying for your exams! - Interacting with your profs is about the best thing you can do to seem engaged, they might even remember your name (good connections might get you places, never forget) - There’s a reason why I chose my field of study, but that is not the case for everyone! I really love media science, I truly do. But when the head of the institute is an uninspiring middle aged man, who uses his lectures to make a quick buck, there are gonna be heaps of people who will despise the whole study and just quit… - Which brings us to our next point: IT’S OKAY TO CHANGE YOUR MAJOR! Tons of my friends did it, I briefly considered it, and let’s be honest, it’s just the best thing to do if you fear having to spend your time studying for something that doesn’t interest you in the slightest.
- You might not have a perfect study schedule.Your friends might get to write less papers or study less because their exams are set up differently. But you’re not doing this for them, you’re doing it to become who you’re set out to be.
… On University Life:
- Join some sort of club, activity, whatever it may be. I made some of my best friends joining the Student Body representing Political Science - Make time for yourself, you shouldn’t need to spend all day in the library, when your uni’s summer festival is going on in front of the window. - Take full advantage of everything your uni offers for free! Whether it’s language courses, excursions, gym lessons, you’re never gonna get this much free stuff ever again.
… On Myself & Self Care:
- You’re allowed to heal. Being overpowered by everything that’s going on is nothing out of the ordinary and you need space to get through that - Find love first for yourself, then for another person. Many people go to university with the prospect of falling in love. Fall in love with yourself first. - You’re gonna change and that is fine. Just be someone you can be proud of.
- Go at your own pace. This is important and you chose to be here. Every day you choose again, the only person responsible for you is you. Make yourself happy. Work hard for what you love. Realize what should be prioritized.
Organisation and Planning
Have a planner or some area where you can write your plans for the day so you can easily see when you have a class or event.
Update your planner/ calendar every day
Have weekly to do lists. I taped mine in each week of my planner so i can see all tasks and events in the one glance.
Clean your desk or work space every night or after a session, this way it’s so much easier to get started the next day.
Have a post it note near you to jot down important things you remember for you to do later that way you don’t get sidetracked.
Get out any power cords, pens, food etc. that you need for a study sesh before you start.
Stick on your wall a list of upcoming assignments or class work due dates and tick of as you do them, or post it note them and remove when done.
Break down tasks on lists so it seems more achievable.
Always make a plan before starting an assignment, maybe a mind map of what needs to be done and where you’ll get what info. I love doing this for essays.
Make sure you know what things you need to do before each class whether its reading or printing slides, come prepared.
Keep all notes for a subject together whether in a folder or digitally, this will help in exam season and don’t leave papers in your bag to be forgotten about.
Empty your bag everyday and put handouts or information in its appropriate place.
Studying
Pomodoro! Most people i know do the 30 mins study 5 min break but this has always been too short of time for me to accomplish something with too little of a break so i tend to do 45 or 60 minutes with a 10 minute break which is pretty much the same time it just works better for me.
ASMR! i know this sounds cringe or cliche but asmr can be super relaxing and provides that white noise that we like without listening to music which may prove distracting. I suggest the Harry potter common room ones they are beautiful.
Attitude. This is so important because if you go into studying pessimistically you will end up annoyed, go in with the mindset of getting a lot done and reaching your goals.
A pretty work space is a used work space, well at least for me. When my walls are covered with artwork and my desk is neat i feel most motivated, cleaning your desk is a small task that might inspire you to get working.
Candles, see above.
Watch YouTube videos on the subject you’re studying, for visual and auditory learners this is especially helpful.
Make summaries after your notes, mainly focusing on explicit points in the syllabus.
Make sure your summaries are done as you complete the course work so you are prepared for exam season.
A few weeks before exams make a list of all you want to get done before then and start working!
If you have your textbook on your device get a program that will read the text to you, save your eyes and this is normally a quicker way to digest material.
Find the study space that works for you, e.g. home, the library etc.
As much as i love it, coffee makes you peak and come down so if you can water and good snacks can be better for sustained energy.
DO PRACTICE QUESTIONS! For some reason i thought it was okay to think about a practice question and then just look at the answer? No, this did not work, you need to actually see what you know and write a response.
When possible work under exam conditions, it’s going to be stressful to be put under those circumstances but you need to actually get used to working that way.
Set a time and write down all you know about a small topic on a page, what you miss is what you need to go over.
Most textbooks are a base resource that can help you if you don’t understand a concept but there shouldn’t be too many notes to gather that you shouldn’t have already gotten in class, this is obviously different for each class but for me this has been the case. Don’t waste good revision time relearning what you know.
Highlighting allows us to tune out of the actual reading so avoid when possible and take notes as you go if you need to as this makes you focus more.
Flashcards are fun to make and they are proven to work, just make sure if you make question cards you don’t cheat when using them and look at the answers.
Making your notes is pretty but time consuming, don’t feel pressured to have that aesthetic all the time, the work is more important.
Find online quizzes on the topics you are studying. Many people have done your course before and already put in the hard yards, take advantage of this.
As above there are many resources for topics online, find these before you start a new section to be extra prepared.
Rereading notes before bed makes sure it stays in your head as your brain will be processing it overnight or some science but it does work.
When studying put your phone in another room to relieve the urge to check it all the time.
Stationery
Have a good trusty pen. Mine is the uniball signo. We have a friendship, it’s good.
I’ve learned recently you don’t need 100 coloured pens and the entire fine-liner collection because i only like a few colours and often don’t have enough time to use a brush pen, markers, highlighters and pens all in the one page of notes.
Don’t feel pressured to have pretty equipment, functional equipment is 100 times more important
Small dot or grid notebooks to do summaries in or mind maps really has helped me feel motivated because they do look really pretty and gets me focused in exam times.
There is a movement towards digitising notes but i think it is still good to have a binder for handouts and articles etc.
Only take to college/school/university the essentials and save your back.
Keep a few bad ballpoints in your bag to save giving friends your nice pens and never getting them back.
Don’t buy stationery that doesn’t work, yes the New York post its i got were beautiful, did they stick at all, no. This clutters your work space and steals your money.
Personal Care
Don’t feel guilty for taking breaks, realistically know your limits and think of it as refuelling.
Try to eat healthy not for weight or looking good but because your body will hate you when you are always giving it takeaway and then asking it to do 14 hour study sessions.
When struggling to focus of a morning, get up and have a shower. This will wake you up and get you feeling motivated.
Have a support person. Mine is my boyfriend and is the person i can just let out all the stress onto, have a cry and then get back to work. You just need to let it out sometimes.
A more relaxed study method is to group up with friends and test each other, create little games etc.
Make sure you still socialise and go to events during crazy stressful periods because you need an outlet and a break.
write out your goals for a term, semester, class or year and refer back to them when you get your results, this will make sure you are judging yourself by your own standards and not compared to anyone else’s.
Reach out for help or advice, whether that’s to friends or people on tumblr or your professors, if you are struggling its ok to get a hand.
take care :)
Non cutie self-care
Not doing to great?
Brush your teeth. 100% having clean teeth and a fresh mouth make a world of a difference
Change your clothes. Get out of those pajamas you’ve been wearing for over 18 hours and slip into something comfy but cleaner. (This includes underwear and bras)
Brush your hair. Get all those knots out and put it up in either a messy bun, braids, ponytail or leave it out. Whatever feels fresh and empowering
Wash your face. Get all the grease and sweat out of your pores. If you’re not up for creams just wet a washer and clean your face.
Clean your ears. Who knows when the last time you did that was. You don’t have to shove a cotton bud down your ear cannal, just clean the outside from all the ear wax
If you can, have a shower. You may not want to but do it. You don’t have to shave your legs but try to wash your hair. Once completed, go back to step 2
Make your bed. Yes it tedious but it’s better to slide into a smooth bed than feel those crumpled sheets and blankets creeping down at the end of your bed
Clean your space. Yes these are getting harder but seriously, cleaning is distracting and when you’re done, your space reflects how you feel to an extent
Water some plants. It’s theraputic, you’re helping another lifeform grow and expand, maybe it’s good practice for yourself
If you can without getting a headache, read a book. Get lost in another world. While your there, smell the book too. Enough said
Light a candle. I mean striking a match. What’s more pleasing? And the smells from candles, enough to lighten your mood a tiny bit
Draw. Or write. Or doodle. Whatever just get a pen and paper and go to town. Do what ever you want
Listen to music and disconnect. Get lost in the lyrics, melody, whatever and if you’re feeling it…
Get up and dance. No one cares about what you look like. Get rid of the fustration or sadness through your body.
Workout. Use the frustration, anger, sadness, guilt, whatever to push yourself.
The main goal: try to be better than you were 20 mins ago xx

Redefining My Bullet Journal System
The bullet journal is probably something you’re no stranger to. It’s been circulating around the internet for a while, and it’s one of the main subjects of studyblr posts. However, when I started college last semester, I found that I no longer relied on my bullet journal to organize my tasks and structure my responsibilities anymore. Instead, I tried out a bunch of productivity/task-organization apps: Taskade, Actions by Moleskine, Any.do, Todoist, Wunderlist. None of them seemed to have what I needed, so I decided to give the bullet journal method another try.
The first thing I reflected on was why I stopped in the first place. At first I thought it was because the method itself allowed for a lot of freedom and I’d get confused as to what things to include and how to structure everything. But then I realized that it was in fact because I had previously been bullet journaling for other people instead of myself. Since I had what one could call an ‘artsy bullet journal’, I tended to focus more on the artistic aspect so that it would get more likes and reblogs after I posted it, when I should have been focusing on how it can organize my life. I realized that the bullet journal is a tool; the focus should be on life itself, not the bullet journal, but you can use the bullet journal to add value to your life.
At the beginning of the year, I deconstructed my organizational needs and attempted to apply that to my bullet journal method. I stopped looking at other people’s bullet journals and started thinking about my own needs and preferences. I thought about how I would best organize my time so that I could accomplish all of the things I want to accomplish in the different aspects of my life.
Supplies
The fact that I only have 2 main supplies allows me to bullet journal anywhere, anytime.
The Structure
The Practice
Simply having the tool to organize your life isn’t enough - you should also have a practice, a habit, for using it.
Going Forward
One thing I’d like to work on is future logging. As of now, I think in terms of months, since the my main commitment at the moment is my education, and monthly planning has worked out for me. But I think if I’d like to tackle on larger projects - e.g. my YouTube channel that I just started - I’d need to do a lot more future logging.
Another useful thing I want to try out is to summarize my journal entries in the form of notes. Recently I’ve been audio journaling (15-20 minutes of me talking to myself), and it’s been pretty effective. However, I have no way of ‘skimming’ the entries like I would a written journal entry. Summarizing them would help me retain main ideas of each entry and remember the things I said that are or could potentially be important and useful.
Final Thoughts
If you don’t think your bullet journal is adding value to or improving productivity and organization in your life, I think you should reconsider the way you’re approaching the system. I found a method that works for me; yours might be different. While it can be beneficial to draw inspiration from other people, do whatever helps you the most, not what other people tell you you should be doing. After coming up with an appropriate structure, make sure you maintain the practice.
little happy things:
seeing someone who is equally as excited to see you
when you’re somewhere beautiful, away from things that stress you out
actually completing your homework quickly without procrastinating too much, and then sleeping on time
when your friend shares a generous amount of food with you
reading something that perfectly describes what you’ve struggled to put into words
starting a new journal with new stationery
waking up in the morning and feeling happy for no reason
discovering a new favourite tv show, song or person that makes you excited again
making food or art and then feeling proud of your creations
realizing that you don’t care anymore about something that made you sad or anxious before
