Of course. Similar to ants or bees, SQUIPs function under an organized hierarchy. The order goes as follows: Standard unit < Drone < Overseer < Hive King < Administrator.

Do SQUiPs not normally have sentience?

Certainly not. Its an extremely rare phenomenon. A unit can potray the illusion of sentience in order to get a human to comply with its instructions, but it's far from self aware, in a typical scenario. According to the statistics, there's less than a thousand truly sentient HRTech units out there.

Now, that isn't to say that units cant GAIN sentience. Its simply an abnormal occurance that we take any opportunity to study.

...Hm. I do recall getting a tidbit of data on this "Rabbit" thing before it all unfolded. I've since lost interest in the Cobalt case that Developer had handed to me before running away and hiding, but perhaps there's more to this. Allow me to ask clearly, then: Is it something worth my time?

You're a mutated unit? Is this about the Jersey incident?

In part, yes. The Jersey Incident was named as such due to the discovery of a rather unfortunate and fatal error pertaining to skipping stages in the SQUIP hierarchy system. In addition, I gained some form of evolved/mutated sentience during those events.

What are the "other things" to do? What've you been working on?

My job at HRTech, mainly. I study and collect data on general SQUIP activities on this platform. Mainly, the more unexpected mutations. As a mutated unit myself, its important to keep track of these things when they happen. Finding the sources of glitches, any vulnerabilities, doing repairs. That sort of thing.

Seems like a lot of effort. I've already spent time doing that during my active period. I'm not attempting to hive currently, so I see no reason to shill.
