This woman was worse than him when it came to innuendo. Everything she said seemed to lead back to suggestion. It was actually a refresher from what he usually dealt with. Hunnigan found his playful flirtation to be ‘exasperating’ as she’d put it. Claire was more like a sister, and Helena…well she was pretty damn serious. Having someone throwing back the jokes and comments was nice. It gave them both something to think about aside from the possibility of death.
“You are a firecracker, aren’t you?” He laughed and shook his head.
No, he didn’t want to leave those people behind but the choice was the right one. They needed to think big, not local. If they died, the chances of figuring all this out and saving the people on the island declined drastically. One might think that conceded of him to hold himself so important but to be fair, history spoke for itself. So he made no argument against the choice but now looked at the elevators.
“The power is all still on so but they could set off an emergency shut down at any time. We’re going to end up taking the stairs.” He said as he started in the same direction she was easing towards. “Don’t worry, though. I’m sure the seclusion of my room will be just as exciting as that tiny elevator.” He teased.
There were distant voices and foot steps, likely coming from the people who were running around. Leon tried to separate those sounds from anything that might equal out to a threat. As he walked though, he found himself looking the woman in front of him up and down. Was it pure luck that he always ended up working with women like this? It couldn’t be.
“This kinda feels like a movie doesn’t it?” He asked casually, eyes now moving around them. “An agent and a hacker team up to stop some terrorist attack?”
“Mm–” she seems to consider, “I dunno. The whole ‘being trapped in a lift that could fall at any moment’ kind of sounds like something I’d rather fancy. ‘specially if whats going on is the cause of the fall.” A quick wink and a playful smile is tossed his way as she headed for the medical area within the hotel.
It was a helpless response to everything. She doesn’t panic, she jokes. It was something she did even back in the Military when her colleagues were really feeling the pressure.
What smile was present, fades as she nears an intersection in the hall. Calmly, she rests to the wall to creep forward, leaning out cautiously to see what was around the corner. She could hear something, but there was nothing visible even thermally. An eyebrow lifts, glancing back at Leon with a questioning look before she’s moving forward to round the corner, gun lifted and aimed as she searches the hall for the strange.. skittering.. she was sure she was hearing.
“Definitely a movie.” the woman finally replies, “Sounds bloody epic, too. We’d totally kick ass.” Tempy tosses him another quick smile before continuing forward.
As she moves however, the look that finds its way to her features suggestions… uncertainty. The redhead squints her eyes slowly before they suddenly narrow on a man rushing down the hallway towards them, “Oi!” she calls forward, “You shou–” cut off, she suddenly finds herself defending against a serrated steak knife. The moment the guy tries to plunge it forward into her chest/neck area, she manages to grab his arm and twist, barely preventing the blade from piercing.
“Oi! Calm down, man. We’re trying to–” Eyes grow wide when she realizes the man’s eyes were a blood red shade with an inhuman look bearing down on her. Stepping back, her free hand moves swiftly in fluid motion towards the man’s chest, stepping to the side to help maneuver him around and slam him face first onto the ground. From there, she disarms him – only to hear a duel set of clack-clacking claws rushing along the walls, ceiling and floor.
One comes up from behind Temperance in the direction they were heading, the other is rushing towards Leon from the way they had come - using the ceiling as its method of approach. The one going after the woman leaps trying to tackle her down so it could rip her to pieces. She drops rather harshly back onto the plaga infected man with the blade rising to catch the Licker below its sternum and let the momentum take its course.
As the beastly creature lands near Leon, it seems to shift uncomfortably before its internals simply fall freely beneath its form. With a cry of confusion, the Licker staggers back and forth miserably. It was likely not down and out of the fight.
The other leaps for Leon from above at an angle so it doesn’t hit the wall. Massive talons stretch out to try to eviscerate the man with every intention of turning him into dinner. A third also suddenly appears to join the second against Leon, hoping to take him down and tear him asunder.
