tfw you’re reminded that Nick more or less explicitly covers up his low self-esteem in canon by referring to himself as trash/garbage/scrap in a wry and joking tone, but that the longer you hang around him, the more you hear him do it, the clearer it becomes that he’s fixated on the idea and that he really isn’t joking in any way whatsoever. 

tfw you’re reminded that Nick is a smooth operator who is confident in his abilities, but who has a cripplingly slender grasp on his own sense of legitimacy as a person, and that he hates his body to the point of being the only companion aside from Danse who will refuse to let you put him in new clothes.

there’s a shop in diamond city that sells cloth made by ppl from the villages, outposts, and settlements of the commonwealth. 

linens, wools, leather, thread, yarn, cotton and hemp fabrics of all textures, weaves, and colors. 

carpets and rugs are available as part of a monthly delivery from a pair of neighboring villages south of the city. 

they sell mostly new fabric, but there’s a special shelf of pre-war materials in the back room, permission is needed to go in the cramped room.

the craftspeople of the commonwealth make instructional books on their craft, which are sold at the shop. they meet up and teach others about the tools, the techniques, the products.
