a few random side-plot ideas

ENEMIES TO LOVERS

they have a century long family feud and their parents hate one another, so they act like they hate each other even if they know they don't

someone makes person one believe that person two likes them and they start acting differently so now there's a huge misunderstanding

they both end up trapped/lost on an island with just the two of them after a camping trip gone wrong with a group of friends

they're both lawyers and are defending opposing sides in court (one is working for the plaintiff and the other for the defendant/one is with the prosecution and the other is working for the defendant) and there are huge clashes between the two of them due to past rivalry

one of them needs an offer from the other one so they start acting overly nice and love bombing, and it ends up working

FRIENDS TO LOVERS

person one is in need of a date for an upcoming family event because they've been lying about being with someone so they beg person two to come with them

they have to help plan a mutual friends' wedding and have to spend even more time together than usual

they start co-parenting for a pet/child they rescued together, which brings them way closer than ever before

person one has a romantic dream about person two one night, which turns things very awkward for them

person one goes through a really rough breakup with a toxic ex, leading to person two showing them what a healthy relationship looks like and they end up falling for each other

FAKE DATING/MARRIAGE

person one has been crushing on person two for ages, so they initiate a 'fake' relationship as an excuse to get closer to each other

person one is a celebrity and had a very public breakup so they want the paparazzi to stop sharing sad photos of them, hence a fake relationship

person one wants to piss their parents off by dating someone who is 'unfit' so they go to person two, looking for a fake relationship

they're both broke and know that you get a lot of gifts when you get married so they decide to go for it, even though they don't like each other that much

they're both celebrities who often get shipped so they decide to give the fans what they want to see even though they're not really together behind the scenes

both characters are gay and enter a secret lavendar marriage to hide their truth from other people like family and friends

ARRANGED MARRIAGE

one of them is only there to gather secrets and ruin the family they've married into - that was always the plan. but what happens when they begin to fall in love?

person one's ex shows up to wreck the new arranged marriage, leading to conflict between the newlyweds

person one was sold into the marriage by a family member and person two feels bad for them but they don't have a choice in any of this either

they were previously in a relationship and broke up but their parents got together and forced them to get married instead of going their seperate ways, leading to family conflict and tension

childhood sweethearts (on the rocks)

a plot where muse a and muse b have been friends since childhood — here and there, they would have a one night stand, but never really allowed themselves to progress into anything more than just friends. now, as adults who are figuring out the dating scene isn’t as easy as their parents made it seem, muse a and muse b are seeing each other more and more frequently. eventually, muse a starts seeing someone new, and has less and less time for muse b. i’m talking jealousy, tension!!! muse b realizing maybe they’ve had feelings for muse a the whole time, muse a having to make tough decisions — either continue dating this new person or hurt muse b!!! i liiiiive for drama pls

childhood sweethearts (with a twist)

okay but a plot where close childhood friends reunite — except muse a was in love with muse b growing up, and muse b became muse a’s best friend’s high school sweetheart. muse a concealed their feelings for muse b all throughout their friendship, in high school & college, although both muses definitely had feelings & felt sparks for one another long before muse b started dating muse a’s best friend. despite the connection they’d felt, neither wanted to jeopardize any of the friendships between the three, and ultimately, muse b ended up married to muse a’s bff… except now, years later, muse a and muse b reunite at muse a’s best friend’s funeral. imagine the hurt of losing a loved one but having the comfort of yet another loved one?? blurred lines, tension, second-guesses…….

okay so i’ve been kicking around a ranch hand plot where muse a is looking for help around the ranch they’ve just inherited due to a death in the family, and seeing as they’re just one person with lots of land, and virtually no knowledge on how to take care of it, it’s impossible to go it all on their own… enter muse b. muse b, a man who not only knows how to work the land but can take care of the ranch with ease, finds it impossible to not take care of muse a, while he's at it. just give me texan sunsets and lovers with low static music crooning in the background from some vinyl record please & ty

friends with benefits (with feelings)

a friends with benefits plot where muse a is dead-set, hellbent on not having a relationship and not getting too intimately involved with muse b; muse b has been in love with muse a for years, and muse a knows this, but still can’t bring themselves to get emotionally attached. i need tensionnnn and like, a lil toxicity ykwim??? for the angst omg 

will you come find me (after the party?)

so hear me out — a plot where muse a and muse b met at a friend of a friend’s party & instantly hit it off. muse a is immediately infatuated with muse b — they laugh, talk, drink; they even make an incredible beer pong team. at some point during the night, muse a decides to put the moves on muse b. however, after leaving to get them some drinks, muse a comes back to find muse b kissing someone else… and to make it worse? it’s their boyfriend/girlfriend. tbh this plot could have the potential of a shakespearean comedy if we did it right akdjgh ok i'm talking messssssssyyyy 

you feel like home (but i’ve got a different address)

okay so i need a tense plot where muse a and muse b are soulmates, beyond the shadow of a doubt — but muse a is married to a nightmare of a spouse. little by little, they spend more time together one on one, but it’s getting increasingly harder for muse b to see muse a with their spouse, especially knowing how that spouse treats muse a. idk this is a rough plot/work in progress plot but i feel like it has potential to go somewhere!!!

be my wingman (but take me home)

give me a plot where muse a and muse b, while best friends, are on total opposites of the spectrum – muse a is a total ladies-man/maneater, while muse b is incredibly awkward and fumbly around the opposite sex. they go out to bars, to clubs, to dinner or to brunch – it doesn’t matter, muse a finds it hard to leave without getting the waiter/bartender’s number while muse b tries to figure out if the human body will ever be capable of controlling the blush response. after witnessing the millionth strikeout during a night out at the bars, muse a decides to give muse b some pointers – except muse b has never felt more comfortable flirting, even if just for practice, with anyone else before<3 give me sparks flying, muse a seeing a totally new side of muse b they didn’t think existed; give me staged, practice dates; give me muse a teaching muse b how to win someone over, give me muse a teaching muse b all the ins and outs of relationships - give me muse b taking everything they’ve learned and showing up at muse a’s doorstep anyway - give me muse b taking all the advice they’ve learned and turning around to use it on muse a because the only reason any of their teachings or advice ever seemed to work anyway was because they were with muse a the whole time !!!!! give me an ‘i was in love with you the whole time and had no idea until you taught me how to give a proper kiss, and now your lips are the only ones i ever want to kiss again’ ship, thanks 

i’ll have what she’s having 

needing a mxf strangers to lovers plot where muse a just so happens to be the bartender who saves muse b from a date that’s turned out to be a completely horrible, awkward, and embarrassing dumpster fire. muse a, tending the bar as they normally do, likely for the third night that week, has been watching the disaster unfold all night – keeping tabs on the long & drawn out gaps of silence, tallying each and every forced smile shared. they, along with the other waitstaff, even have a bet going as to who will up and leave the table first. muse a never once waged their bets on muse b folding first. muse b has been trying their best moves all night, but each flirtation simply does not land, always falling somewhere juuust out of reach. muse b hasn’t made a single joke worth a real laugh since they’d walked in the joint, and in an effort to regroup, decides to freshed up at the bar… where they just so happened to be served by muse a. while waiting for their drink at the bar – likely trying to catch a break from the miserable reality that exists back at their table – muse b strikes up conversation with muse a, and suddenly it’s almost as if every joke and flirtation that’d been set off and misfired previously found the exact right place to land… muse a. 

i’m thinkin’ a meetcute where muse a & muse b meet by complete happenstance – it’s a hookup that turns into more; slow burn, muse a/b’s pasts slowly become unraveled; lots of angst revolving whether or not the other is truly ready for a next level relationship, all that jazz !!

mamma mia (how could I resist you)!!

plot based on the movie mamma mia! (2008) – muse a and muse b had a summer fling *decades* ago; seasalt & foam, boardwalk lovebirds; ferris wheel rides & popcorn, winning stuffed animals, strawberry kisses && golden glowed hues, exchanging pieces of one another in moonlight; photobooth strips tucked into back pockets and wallets that eventually became dresser drawers and boxes in attics one year after the next. august slipped through their fingers like the tide goes out chasing the horizon – like waves racing towards the moon.

"Listen, man," Kit said, holding up his hands in surrender before reaching out to take the beer offered to him. "I'm not sayin' I would get him a horse for his birthday." Kit had brought it up, though, which was exactly why he was now having to defend his statement from only a moment ago. "I'm just sayin', that kid sure does love a horse, and horses teach responsibility as well as any puppy would." William was about to turn two, so really, responsibility wasn't the point of any of his birthday presents. It was supposed to be about fun and maybe lights and a little bit of annoying sounds just to torment his parents, depending on who you asked. "At least I didn't suggest a drum kit like those idiots at the fire station. I bet your wife loved that one, wish I could've seen the look on her face when she heard 'em say it."

Tony hadn’t always been the friend-havin’ type—not since he’d settled here in Cherry Spring, and ‘is woman went and whipped ‘im into the resemblance of a real-life man; an honest one, with real friends an’ everythin’ that came with havin’ ‘em. In this particular instance, that meant the ice cold Shiner Bock in his hand an’ the headache Kit was already stirrin’ up between ‘is brows. He loved this damn kid—but sometimes he didn’t quite know what t’say to ‘im, ‘cause the words that done came outta his mouth went and knocked three years off Tony’s lifespan...he was sure of it. “A’right, now, lemme get this straight,” he began, letting the taste of his beer settle on his lips ‘fore he placed it on the workbench nearby, work-worn hands beginning to fumble around in the box of tools nearby. Anita never really needed no tune-ups no more… but sometimes it was jus’ fun to pick things apart just to put ‘er back together again—like a little kid with legos. But the only person who knew that Anita was the adult-version of legos was his wife, li’l miss Birdie Oliveros. That woman, he was sure, would love a horse like no tomorrow… But where the hell were they fixin’ t’put a thing that size? Tony liked the idea of a puppy suddenly a zillion times better.  “...You want me, know-nothin’-’bout-horses guy, t’get my son—who’s turnin’ two, by the way… not really sure he can balance a bike, yet—a friggin’ stallion he can saddle on in to recess on?” he asked, almost unable to contain the hint of laughter in his voice, the tugging of a playful grin at the corner of his mouth. He really got a kick outta Kit McGrady. He really, truly did.

“Y’know what… You’re right. You’re really, truly right… Can I please be there when you tell Bird your idea?” he asked, words dripping with a teasing sense of sarcasm, returning back to the wrenches.
