Heya Reign! Sorry to bother you, but these kinda been festering on my mind for a while and I just really wanted to ask your opinion on these topics. as you've probably guessed I have paragraph long rambling coming up lol.

How do you think Tyrian and Adam's dynamic would go? I've honestly been thinking about this topic for a solid while and I genuinely think those two have a lot in common aside from surface-level stuff. they're both one of the strongest faunus on Remnant and they're both villains. I feel like Adam would be disgusted with the existence of Tyrian. Adam wants to rule over and kill humans because of revenge but I think initially before he lost his mind, the intent WAS that he cared about Faunus oppression. he is the remnant's worst case of it. so seeing a Faunus of Tyrian's talent going on mindless rampage in killing both humans AND faunus would disgust Adam and send him in a fit of rage. if these two ever met and Tyrian had the sheer presumption to insinuate Adam and him were alike, Adam would've attacked him right then and there. Adam is a monster who believes himself to be a hero yet he does have some form of redeeming qualities (he doesn't obviously wanna genocide his faunus bretheren) Tyrian is a monster who revels in it and accepts that about himself. Adam wouldn't like Tyrian because he would've been the exact type of Faunus that gave the racists ammunition to further oppress faunus. Adam doesn't want to admit he's a monster. Tyrian does.

2. How far do you think Adam would go for love...like actual true love? I have a friend who's also a writer and a huge Adam fan and I think they're writing a romance fic between Adam and Winter as well. I remember you also entertaining that topic (Still waiting for that fic reign!) and I suppose, how would that change Adam's future goals and what's he's striving for? he wanted to enslave humans and fight for his faunus rights. he hates the humans, and he has no hesitation about killing them. but here he is. Adam Taurus. one of the biggest human haters on remnant. falling head over heels in love with a schnee, a human he probably hated the absolute most. how would that shake up Adam's conviction? that he, for the first time, feels like he's wrong? that not all humans are terrible. I guess the question is, how *far* would Adam go for Winter in this case? does he leave white fang? does he perhaps take the route of wanting to try Blake's method of peacefulness? he does seem to be the type that sacrifices love for his duty, so maybe he realizes he can't be with Winter in the end? but in the most extreme scenerio, what if he got Winter pregnant? yeah spoiler alert for that fic, if you ever find it, but I believe my friend wrote it that Adam did indeed knock Winter up. presuming a case where she keeps it. how would that physically affect Adam? that he supposedly now has a kid he needs to look after? is it just, 'no hesitation, I'm leaving the fang for her and our child' or does he have a little more turmoil? Personally I always felt like Adam would probably leave the fang if he got Winter knocked up and fell in love with her. he realizes he was wrong and he got a family to take care of. maybe some vague letter to Sienna and he's off. perhaps taking up a different identity in atlas to not arouse suspicion as to the guy Winter married and had maternity leave for. maybe Adam would even still go as far as to continue fighting for faunus rights while working a regular 9 to 5 kinda like Absolute Universe Batman. becoming a vigilante equivalent to the happy huntresses I guess? much to the dismay of Winter probably. anyways. yeah, probably a hard topic, but I'd love to get your thoughts on it.

For the first question, I've talked about Tyrian and Adam a couple times. I really like your positioning of them as foils, and that summation - Tyrian admits he's a monster, Adam can't - is a compelling dynamic between them.

If they're stuck together as Salem's allies, I don't think Adam would outright attack. Warning shots, maybe, which would only encourage Tyrian to keep needling him. I can easily see Adam doing his best to subtly avoid Tyrian, maybe not even realizing consciously that he's doing it.

Since they make pretty good foils, the dynamic would probably either go for Adam becoming fully the monster (acknowledging himself as such) or Adam rejecting the monster (seeing himself in Tyrian and recoiling from that). There's no doubt other compelling options, but those are the two that jump out at me. Salem better not put them on missions together lest Adam suffer character development and change his mind about the whole world destruction thing lol.

As for question 2, first off I swear I'm still poking at that Adam x Winter fic, it's just a long one.

I...don't really see Adam falling head over heels for anyone, personally. I don't think he's wired for it. Respect, sure. Love, ehhh, complete with the hand-waggling gesture.

The dynamic between him and Winter is spectacularly messy. Any requests or changes that Winter asks of him come loaded with the context of her being a Schnee, him being a former SDC slave turned terrorist, like - if she asked him to give peace a change, I sincerely doubt he would take it well. Oh, she wants him to become Ghira? To rip out his fangs and claws, keep him around as a pet for "her" son to play with? That kind of thing. Not a healthy way to view the world, but when is he ever viewing the world in a healthy way?

And I think, even if he got Winter pregnant, he wouldn't give up the Fang for a kid. Turmoil, sure. Doubting himself, absolutely. Nightmares of his own childhood, undeniably. However, not only is he clearly extremely invested in the WF's goals, but he's also pretty aware of how fucked up his childhood is and how wanted he is by everybody, dead or alive. Even if he could give up the Fang, would he want to bring that kind of risk into a kid's life?

Like, yeah, he wouldn't enjoy being a deadbeat dad. But he'd view that, and his kid's happy intact family, as a necessary sacrifice. He wouldn't be the only guy in the Fang who prioritized the organization over family, and hell, might even bond with some of the other members about it if he ever slipped up enough for him having a partner/son to get out.

I've no doubt you could make Atlas Batman work if you really tried for it, but you'd need some very careful planning of that character arc for me personally to buy into it.

Thoughts and rankings for Adam’s designs?

ranking from my favorite to least favorite (they're all bangers):

Shirow Miwa design. Sleek, sharp, sauced

OG design. Same reasons as above, but loses a bit of sauce in the translation to 3D

Chinese mobile game (?) and V5+ outfit are tied for me. V5 is just meh, though the blindfold is excellent. The game outfit needs some tweaks imo and is very much an alternate universe vibe but I do love the coat and silver chains. If you mashed them together you'd probably get something good that fits in the show.

I been reading a lot of books about child soldiers and it's very interesting how the adult writter explains why his child version behaved that way. The writter also said that to be able to help a child soldier people need a lot of patience because the child is going to act violent before being able to decompress from all the violence he experienced prior to being rescued. It's very important to give the children a peaceful enviroment and show them they can trust in people again.

And then I think how CRWBY fucked up Adam's backstory because they couldnt understand all the trauma a slave child could had experienced. Also I still hate Ghira and still think he was too incompetent as a ruler and as a WF leader.

add another tally to the "the writers did not handle Adam well" column, and consider adding to the "the in-universe characters did not handle Adam well" column while you're at it.

Been following you for a while now but this is the first time I am sending you an ask. I really like how you characterize the rwby characters and I guess that I'm looking for some advice. Pardon me, this is a long one.

I've been planning out this Yang goes rouge AU for quite some time and I noticed that I'm beginning to gravitate towards Yang and Adam's dynamic. Basically in this AU, Yang received a message from Raven about how she was right about Beacon falling and then warning Yang to not trust everyone and question everything. Ergo, Yang heeds her mother's warning. (It is to my outmost belief that CRWBY shouldn't have retconned that Yang and Raven post credit scene in V2, still salty about it)

There's this scene wherein the two of them (Yang and Adam) hesitantly helped each other save some kids. But the thing is, some of those kids have been possessed by the Chill. So Adam wanted to kill them while Yang decided to try and save the kids via her aura. Ending scene is that Yang unintentionally made a firefly-like scenery around them because of her semblance. Prompting Adam to share some tidbits of his childhood, the sdc, the scar, and how he looked up to Raven which lead to him emulating her. It's a heart-to-heart scene that ended up being a character study for them both.

It's just that, I've been feeling a bit guilty for exploring this aspect of Yang and Adam's dynamics. Because let's face it, they have lots of parallels, their names, their semblances, etc. I just don't know how to not feel guilty about this since I am actually kinda excited in exploring this. Blake's description of Adam being a boy who strayed into shadows definitely helped out with this. But I just don't wanna write Yang as too ooc when I plan out the 'bonding' trips with Adam.

Anyways, thank you for entertaining this ask.

That seems like a fun scene if you can make Adam pouring out his soul like that work believably. I like the firefly imagery.

I'm not sure where your guilt is coming from - because they're enemies in canon? - but the only real advice I have for you is to just write it. You can always decide whether to post it for other people to see later, and it's waaaaaay easier to edit something OOC into something in-character when it's actually written down rather than endlessly refining vague shapes in your brain.

Break Point chapter 4 is out and I’ve queued up several asks, calling this a productive Sunday

read chapter 3 of Breakpoint. it was absolute peak like always. I hope you're dealing with that concussion better now. things I liked: I adored the incorporation that Winter clashed with the white fang/(Adam personally?) before. I think that's a fun headcanon in fics. I really also liked Adam putting those rookie white fang soldiers in their place for them to stop harassing the bartender. I think the definitive highlight of the fic was Adam and Roman interacting, and how Adam put him in his place. personally? I really like your Adam solo scenes. it took me a long time to realize this but once I thought about it, I really like it whenever you write a scene where Adam is truly alone with his thoughts and what he is thinking about and him remembering his past. I think those kinda moments is how I truly learned how Adam's character works. I don't know why but I had hollow people, continuum and deus ex machina trilogy nostalgia all over again, I truly got into the RWBY fandom/reading Adam fics about a year ago (can't believe it's already been that long) so I think I recognized the style of writing and gave me a real pleasant feeling. like meeting an old friend you haven't seen in a long time if that makes sense. Adam breaking out had me shaking with excitement. I would've loved to see Ironwood's reaction lmao. I think the only minor criticism I have I felt that the chapter felt a little rushed at the end. which I suppose I can't fault you too much, since you were dealing with health issues, but the sudden exposition of Adam slowly gathering up the remnants of his branch back together felt a little jarring I suppose. I guess I just wanted more lol. overall I'm quite excited for the final chapter (and hopefully that upcoming Winter x Adam fic). I'm really saddened that it's a 4 chapter short story, I'm quite curious to see how you'll end the AU of this universe; does Adam still want to go after Blake? will Salem want some vengeance and send Tyrian and or Hazel after Adam? is he getting a happy ending here? (I mean, he saved Pyrrha so he kinda deserves one imo) anyways. solid 9 to 9.5 out of 10 chapter imo. can't wait what you cook up next.

Glad you liked it! The pacing of this whole fic is a bit of a mess lol, I did not plan it out very much. It was originally just gonna be the first chapter, but I wanted to do a bit more, and now here we are. (There is a plan, don't get me wrong.)

My dad was one of those people that would get as little sleep as functionally possible for a human for no reason like that—genuinely one of the most annoying traits a person can have (hyperbole). Any tiredness or sleepiness we had would feel unjustified in the face of his 2-4 hours max of rest.

I thought he was the only person like that, but then I worked overnights at a nursing home in my late teens, and it turns out the majority of old people do it too. I genuinely started to believe it was some sort of neurodivergent/personality or mental disorder habit (not in a bad stigmatizing way, just in a "oh you’re outright refusing to sleep more than 3 hours every night and want to throw hands with me because I tried getting you to bed? That’s weird!" way)

I can easily imagine the rest of the White Fang camp feeling either way about Adam lol. Maybe competing to try to match his schedule only to utterly fail and realize how scarily impressive he is, or try catching him tired or even asleep but never do. Potentially be where Blake got her unhealthy sleeping habit in the first season?

In all seriousness, GOD does this chapter make me realize why i prefer reading. Instead of just having Ruby put on a glum face in the bg while characters talk, her thoughts and emotions are pervasive. It’s a tension that builds every minute that goes by is. Her crash out really feels inevitable. Jars keep coming up empty. Great stuff 🧑‍🍳

The added discussion like Atlas’s simulated disasters, Ruby’s question of what a huntsman should/would do. Little things on the surface but they are SO GOOD.

Low key thought you were gonna totally change Ruby and Jaune’s crash out scenes (ngl I find Ruby’s just flat out cringe no matter what 💔), buuut the added “it was your plan” AND Weiss’s weiss white lie was 👌 chefs kiss. The defeated, weak punch to Jaune’s armor was CHEFS KISS.

And yeah, I could've changed more about Ruby's crashout but, in the end, didn't feel like it. What I added/tweaked was enough to satisfy me and that is the only bar that fic is trying to clear lol. Glad you still liked the adjusted crashout tho!

I don’t know about internalised misogyny but I do feel like similarly to other fandoms where some of the fans have weirdly parasocial relationship with tbe writers, some rwby fans are willing to ignore rooster teeth and crwby’s misogyny or downright predatory behaviour (like when gavin and geoff admitted to stalking women in their cars), while weaponising misogyny, often unjustifiably, against critics of the show. “You like Adam because you are misogynistic. You hate the show because it has girl protagonists you are misogynistic”. Some rwby “critics” and unfortunately some Adam fans definitely fall into the misogynistic category, but I’ve seen those accusations thrown at you too before (as well as at queer people & women) and you are the furthest from being a misogynist.
