Something’s Missing
Bullet With Butterfly Wings
I allowed the feeling to remain but not drown me. Life without sadness was simply impossible.
Pretending to be perfectly happy seemed neither plausible nor sustainable. I would feel sad because of losses. Daring to be connected means there will be disappointments, unrequited affections, and ruptures. Because I was highly attuned to those around me, their pain and longing would be a boulder pressing down on my spirit. I would need to learn to carry additional weight, for short and long journeys alike. I decided to feel the hurt of others not on top of me but rather behind me, propelling me forward.
