Which OC is deaf?
@electricea
Clarke spent most her free time during her beta/development stages flying all over the Grid, exploring the Outlands (digital wilderness). The other couriers of her generation had an ongoing geocache game where they would hide little trinkets for each other across the Grid and go looking for them.

"I... am trying to trust that you mean well, Clarke. But I do not trust easily."
-CorruptedCodelines-
"I sympathize. Trust is not something that can be easily afforded these cycles."
Do you have trust issues? (for Clarke)
"Trust issues? Why would I have trust issues? That would make it seem like I have something to hide from General Tarjan. And I don't."
"I don't know who this 'Renegade' script is, but he's clearly not Tron." (for Clarke)
"Of course he's not. Flynn killed him, didn't he? I don't know his identity, but I do know he's a random variable and trying to undermine our Luminary's authority, which means he must be eliminated."
@spaceandthedigitalfrontier (For Ed or Rio)
She lunges and tackles, only to gently nibble the cookie out of his hand.
Rio shrieked in surprise as they were tackled to the ground, though they can't stop shaking from barely suppressed laughter as the were-panther ate from their hand.
Off to the side, Ekman barked in excitement at the two humans, wagging his tail in hopes to join in whatever game they were playing.
Time to take a headcount.
Please reblog this if you RP as a TRON program. Legacy, Uprising, original, doesn’t matter. I just want to get a number here.
He... he didn't like... the loose ended promise that felt like... there were too many variables... to many ways "medically nessisary" could be exploited...
But... what choice... did he have? He was corrupted, glitching, barely able to stand. If he had to make an assessment, he doubted he would even be able to fight off this program fro long if they tried anything.
He.... he needed his discs... no...
He needed to have his identity back.
Slowly, every part of him tensed and coiled to spring... he held out his discs to the program... or... where he could sense their ping coming from.
Clarke noted Rinzler's hesitance. In retrospect, that hadn't been worded the best. She wasn't sure if it would help to attempt to clarify, or if that would only make things worse.
Slowly, she reached out to take them, then paused.
Would it help if you held the discs while I worked on on them?
she asked.
It would require me to be up close and personal with you, but you'll have your discs in your hands if I do anything you're not comfortable with--though I would appreciate if you told me to abort first and gave me a chance to stop before you resort to anything more drastic. I could also talk you through what I am doing, if that would help.
@corruptedcodelines
The Rectifier was Clarke's worst nightmare. A process worse than repurposing that was nearly irreversible, and and with the equipment to process entire settlements in nanocycles into mindless drones pressed into Clu's army.
So, Clarke and the Rejects did what they did best. They slipped away from the rest of their regiment, and did as much damage as they could to the machinery and free as many programs as they could. According to Ada, there was another cluster of Rejects working to free the trapped programs, but it was slow going while they tried not to get caught. Clarke was the one who had a jet baton--not Occupation standard issue, but a relic from her past, meant to carry cargo long distances at high speeds--so she was the one who had to sneak the small group of captives off the Rectifier and get them to safety.
They were over the Sea of Simulation when the explosion occurred, and the shockwave knocked her offline and batted her jet and it's occupants into the Sea. She awoke millicycles later on a rocky shore, on what seemed to be a small island in the middle of the sea. At first, she didn't spot any other programs around; what happened to the Programs she'd been transporting, she had no idea.
Upon further inspection, she spotted the silhouette of a program unconscious a short distance away, half hidden by a cluster of rocks. One of hers or not, she had medical training, and should assist.
She halted several paces from the program, recognizing his helmet. However, she didn't have time to decide whether or not to help, as Rinzler's circuits glowed back to life, dim enough that it was impossible to tell their color.
Black. Pain. Grief. Suffering. Loops of feedback grinding over his processes in a scraping, incessant cycle... emotions, feelings, sensations that had been stripped from him for so long. How... how had he... gotten...
His code lurched as he feels his circuits burn, a grating, glitching... painful sound rattling through his chest as the world flickered at the edges. His hands curled into something loose, small stones digging painfully into the thinner portions of his armor as his consciousness wavered... teetering dangerously toward... s-something... No... His breath came in broken heaves as he clawed his way back into control, that horrid, painful sound cutting off abruptly as he struggled to hold onto his processes. That... that line of code it... he wasn't... Alan_1 had coded him to be able to feel... to understand... why would... why was his core... His vision filled with errors, glitches... fractured slices across his visor from impact with the poisoned waters of the Sea fragmenting his ability to even see... W-Wait...

All the sudden... that horrid feeling of his energy being drained away, the feeling of nibbling corruption eating into his frame even beneath his armor, the blackened... tarry film that seemed to stick to every movement and pull him down made sense. His vision flared with glitching blued orange and watery white vermilion... the clash of colors making that ache spike in his head as his senses echo a warning.
Caution: Program Detected in proximity.
S-someone... someone was here. He... he couldn't see them... but he could feel them hovering close by... but he couldn't reach out to read their energy enough to tell him who they were... what they were...
His sense of the Grid, his abilities as an Enforcer Monitor were scrambling... as if trying to follow two lines of directives that he couldn't read himself...
Clarke watched hesitantly as Rinzler's circuits cycled between orange and white. She recognized the flickering lights as a symptom of repurposing code breaking down, either by Rinzler--Tron's?--doing, or the sea? or...
Clarke didn't see his disc. Did he lose his discs?
Hesitantly, she sent out a ping through the datastream in one of the Occupation channels:
Identity: Clarke-ZMXK1, Black Guard. Formerly Courier. Greetings, Rinzler. Or--Tron?
Clarke paused, thinking how to proceed. Tron-Rinzler-whoever the program was, he needed energy so he would stabilize and not derez from the Sea's poison. If Clarke was going to help him break through the repurposing code, she needed access to his disc--or discs--though she would never just take it after what he'd been through.
What they've all been through.
If he didn't have his, and they couldn't find it, then she'd have to take him to Llull to see if they could get him a new one.
And that meant figuring out a way off the island.
I have have medical first responder training. I'm here to help you. I have extra emergency energy rations. I'm going to leave them next to you.
Slowly, telegraphing her movements so not to startle him, Clarke stepped forward, and placed two vials of energy on the ground next to Tron-Rinzler, and then stepped back out of range.
The information filtered into his stalling, fractured mind, the gentle ping of the... the black... guard..?... no the Courier... bringing a blessed stable distraction to his fragmenting processes. Medical... first... aid... he... he was... injured... he needed... help he... Where... where was Flynn...? Who was this... this... Program...? Could he trust them? His mind swirled, the world fading and darkening dangerously at the edges as he swallowed hard, gripping the... gravel... it was gravel... beneath his hands as he tried to pinpoint the source of the ping. He closed his eyes, reaching out through the Grid to feel for the energy of the program. He had to know how far away they were... if they were going to atta- The Glitching Enforcer Monitor let out a short gasp of pain as sharp biting cracks of sensation burned through his body... radiating from his core outward like a stab to the chest as the Grid itself rejected him from using his abilities. The only reaction he could manage to wheeze out was a pained whine, the cacophony of thoughts blurring and mixing till he couldn't tell which line of process was the right one to follow. Serve.
Rebel.
Destroy.
Protect.
Hunt. Hide. Red. Blue. White. Orange. Red. Blue. White. Orange. RedBlueWhiteOrange-
He curled up as the hurricane of dual code tore him apart, losing his grip on the outside world as his perception faded to abstracted color. Name... who... who am I... where am I... what is my Name...
Which one of... of those Designations were his?
Panic and desperation began to claw apart what little stability he had left, the frantic grab for even that one simple fact of his identity crumbling through his fingers as his processes began to split and tear into duality once again. He... He had one. He knew it he... it was precious to him... why couldn't he remember it. Something glitched and rumbling... like a feedback loop of a broken Program half stalling carved through his chest... the rumbling purr making the pain only worsen. Discs... He... he n-needed... needed his... where...
He tried to speak... tried to communicate, his helmeted head scraping to the side as he blindly attempted to find the Courier... but all that came out was a glitched rasping wheeze and oh so much more pain. It felt like his voicebox was being ripped from his frame... the flickering words of Admin Command Refusal burning across his vision for just a moment before glitching away. He... he couldn't speak...
Why was something locking his voice? Why couldn't he speak?
What had he ever done to his master to deserve this silence?
The foreign line of processes burned like a virus... his throat managing to choke out a hoarse gasp of pain as he fought to hold onto the world. All of this was crashing down on him far to fast... so many errors filling his mind. He... he had to think... he couldn't speak but... But he could hear... he could receive Pings...
Could... what if he tried to Ping back?
He bundled up as much energy as he could spare, shakily reaching back over the same Ping Channel to try and communicate.
Req̵̪̉͜u̷̘͙͠e̵̪͚̊st Sssse̷͍͚̔ą̴͇̑̕r̴̙̥͂̂ch:.. N.. Nḙ̸̌͝ed.. dī̶̮̼̀ssssks.
It was glitched, barely cohesive... but it had worked. If he had his disks he could... he could st-stop this... find out... what line of Process was... was his.
Absently, he could... feel them... two bright pinpoints at the edge of his consciousness(es?) no matter how broken and half to crashing his mind was. They... they were... h-here he... He had to...
Circuits flickered and spasmed... with them more pain... that viral tar doing the glitching Program no favors as his body refused to move... no matter how desperately he tried...
He... he was so... t-tired...
Clarke fretted, wondering if giving the program space was the right decision, considering how disoriented he seemed, or if feeling the presence of another nearby would help.
She tilted her head at the request. Considering his state and the corruption from the sea, Clarke wasn't sure if he would survive if she left him for an extended period of time to search for his discs.
She stepped forward, and picked up one of the vials of energy, and pushed it into his hand. The energy would at least temporarily stabilize him against the sea's corruption.
She gave the immediate surroundings, and particularly the shore they had washed up on, a careful scan for the discs, but found nothing in immediate range.
Query: Last known location?
His hand closed around a startlingly cold, smooth surface... his glitching systems almost throwing him into a soft crash at the sudden spike of sensation. Someone... hand g-given him... something. His helmeted head snapped over toward the direction his fragmented systems thought the item had been offered from... struggling to keep his processes together enough to sense what he had been given. It was... an... energy charge? Why... would the... t-the program give him... All of his systems pitched down and begun to slur... slowing to a painful crawl as his circuits dim even further... the virused residue from the Sea leeching away what little energy he had left. He... hewassotired...
It took everything in his glitching, energy drained being to bring his opposing hand around to grasp the top of the container... his hand shaking as he fumbled with the cap. It took him more tries than he found himself able to count before the lid finally came free... a stuttering breath of relief escaping his lips as he carefully lifted the vial to his mouth and drank. The pure, liquid power flowed like a river of blessed life through his fractured and bleeding code, the calming cool of the charge washing away some of the burning agony lacing his being as his circuits brightened to something close to normal. He... he could think... process... react... plan, his functions finally beginning to work. A breath of relief escaped his lips, fogging up the dark glass covering his face as he boots up self-repairs... his body relaxing just a bit in spite of the remaining pain. His code swirled, unease creeping over his spine. He... he was missing information... He... he was doing something. Query... he had been given a query. The program at his side was... trying to... to help him. Kill him. Disrupt...
His circuits flicker a lightshow of orange-red and white-blue as his code lurched again... a sick feeling coiling in his gut again as he finds his processes once more splitting into dual lines. He... why would he want to... to harm this program. She was offering help, aid when he so desperately needed it... He was coded to harm, to hurt, to kill...
The world pixelated at the edges again... that wretched sound carving through his chest with a sound he was now coming to realize was the sound of a processor malfunctioning. This... He... he had to drag his thoughts away from the l-loop...
Focus on the Question... answer the query. Don't think for... for just a moment... react.
He let his Processes fade to basic need as he put his energy into finding the exact location of the twin blips tugging at his soul. The world became a network of intersecting lines of energy... built together like ladders built from energy alone. He could now see the program beside him... There... only an arm's length away... highlighted in... not... orange... but... Blue...
Thoughts not his own cut through his processes like an angry feral Virus... his mind drifting as it moved forward once again.
Traitor. Defective. Threat. Betrayer just... like the rest of them... hurt... kill them before they can-
He gripped his head, letting out a cry of pain into the rocks below, his senses almost entirely disrupted as he makes a wild grasp for the information. Irrelevant data crowded for his attention, trying to drag his thoughts back down again as he felt like his being was being ripped in two. He slammed his head into the beach below... trying to do anything to get the pain to stop as he almost screamed the information through a Ping. LAST LOCẠ̶̊T̷̫̚Ì̴̡Ô̵̘N PING: Fif̴̜̎t̷̟̏e̵̩̿e̷̥͛n feet, sixty-two inc̵̛͎h̵͉̑é̷̤s... s-s-so̸̗̾u̶͔͠theas̵͉̎t. Check... pḁ̷͐ş̷̿t... water...
He... he needed... to s-stop this... w-war in his c-code...
Clarke frowned, the units not making sense, but after a brief query to the Grid to determine direction, turned southeast, and marched the short distance to the water's edge, carefully keeping measure of her distance from Rinzler.
She paused at the edge of the of the sea, staring into it's dark, murky depths. She'd always avoided the Sea. The isos had once come from it. Who knew what horrors now lurked in it's murky depths, corrupted over a thousand cycles by the poison?
She didn't like the sea, but Tron needed his discs. She was going to need the rest of her emergency energy rations when she got back out to fight off the Sea's poison, and they would both need a de-contamination cycle once they got off the island, but that was a concern for later. Slowly, she waded into the water, contamination alerts going off in her system. Just as the water got the chest height, there was a sharp, sudden drop.
Clarke had no idea how much further down it went, but with great reluctance, she dived down into the sea.
Supposedly, Tron's discs were nearby. She just needed to...
Suddenly an underwater current caught Clarke, and pulled toward the cliff.
Just before she crashed into it, though she passed through a crack barely large enough for a program to fit in hidden in the shadows. And then the current spat her out onto solid ground, in a dimly lit cavern.
It was the sort of place, Clarke thought idly, that the older generation of Couriers would have hidden a cache-- a small, hidden outpost supplied with extra vehicle batons and energy in the event that one of them got stranded. Those places could only be accessed with a courier's disc, and Clarke wasn't sure if she counted, anymore.
She wondered if anyone was able to access them, any more.
Clarke shook her head. Rinzler's discs. She needed to find them. Though perhaps if she'd gotten sucked into this cavern, maybe they had, too?
Slowly she looked around the dimly lit cavern. There were tunnels that went deeper into the base of the island. She itched to go explore, but...
There was a faint light, coming from near the water's edge. When she stepped nearer to investigate, she found two discs, dimly pulsing red blue white orange, lodged into a crack.
Tron's discs.
Clarke pulled them out with a gentle tug, and looped her arm through them, then swam for the surface.
Mission Successful,
she pinged Tron as she approached, in a way of warning Rinzler of her presence.
She gently slipped the discs under his hands so that he could hold them, and stepped back. The sea would have corrupted them, though not as bad as Rinzler's core programming. A simple, quick defrag process would fix the issue.
Request: permission to defrag?
He curled around the discs like they were the last thing he had left in the world, shaking uncontrollably as he clutched them close to his chest. He felt like he would crash from the relief of having them back, close, secure, protected... whatever and whoever he was or had left of himself safe from being altered... changed...
Request: Permission to Defrag?
All of the calm that had slowly been seeping into his fragmented code grinds to a burning halt at that word, cold, consuming fear flooding his systems as that glitching griding purr became a snarl. Defrag. Defrag. Perfect, change, alter, "You aren't perfect yet... too much of that flawed Monitor left..."
His processes spiraled as memories flood his mind, glitched scenes of burning gold against blue-white... fingers clawing through his code and directives... the scene fragmenting and pixelated at the edges as the pain became too much. Red orange clashing against far too cold yellow... losing more pieces of himself to be perfect... foreign code crawling through his inner being like gridbugs... knawing through his mind, picking apart his processes as the pain became too much please PLEASE DEREZ HIM NOW PLEASE I WON'T I CAN'T BECOME THI̶͕͆S̴̥̽,̵͓͠ ̵̧̋Ẅ̷̧́H̴͇͌Ä̸͚T̵̡̎ ̸̨̅D̵̯͐I̸̗͒D̸͚͘ ̵̔͜I̴̳̕ ̸̗̉D̵̥́O̵̪͠-̵͔̊
The choked snarl of panic tore out of his throat before he could even realize it, his hands curling around the twin mirrored discs as he shakily holds one out toward the ghostly orange outline of the Program. "Dd-d̴̤̎-d-onn̵̞͗n̴̡͑n̵̰̉n't... t-t-to̶̢͆u̷͈͠ch... M̴̙̔-̵̢̈́.... M-Me..."
He could feel every scraping, crack of the pixels in his throat as he defied the Admin lock, pain clawing apart his entire voicebox as the backlash directive started to bite into his neck... chipping away code as punishment for rebellion. It hurt... oh how badly it hurt... but the pain was drowned under the sheer panic of Not again, never again, never... n-never... I won't be broken... I won't be perfected... I didn't do anything wrong please...
His hands shook as he held the discs to what he could barely tell was the Program's throat, his knees pressing into her ribs as he kept her down. He... he didn't remember... moving... His helmeted head shook a bit, that grinding growl vibrating his chest so much it felt like it was breaking his code apart. He was falling apart at the seams.
Clarke froze at Tron's sudden panic when she requested to fix his disc, realizing what he must have thought he meant. Which. Clarke would never. Though she'd never gone through the re-purposing process, she understood Ada and Babage's hesitance to let anyone they didn't fully trust going through their discs.
She took a step back, hands loose and open and out to her sides where Rinzler could see they were empty when he tensed.
Before she could even process what was going on, she was on her back, Rinzler on her chest with his disc to her throat.
Clarke forced herself to relax under Rinzler's weight, to not fight back, to appear as non-threatening as was possible in her situation.
Peace,
she pinged.
I will not touch your disc without your consent--willingly given, never coerced. The sea has damaged your discs. Attempting to sync them will cause you further damage. Will you allow me to run a repair subroutine, or would you prefer to do that yourself?
He wouldn't... never... never nev-ver again... n... Ne-...
Why... Why weren't they fighting back? Confusion echoed beyond the spiraling loop. He could feel more than see the Program beneath him going slack... relaxing in his hold... not fighting back, not preparing to run or take him down by... b-by force. His hands shook a bit more as he struggled to think through it all.
They... they were submitting.
Why?
Everything in his systems screamed at him to back off... they had surrendered... there was no threat. But... a crawling, creeping desperate part of his code... whispered he couldn't be sure... that he wouldn't be certain this Program WOULDN'T betray him in a moments notice... He had been betrayed before, his very master had betrayed him before.
His weight eased back off of his prey the program a bit, his arms shaking even more as his glitching mind fought with itself. He curled up into himself once again, his hands still locked in a deathgrip on the twin disks. The chipping damages that the backlash code had done to his throat was too severe to attempt speaking again, his masked face tilting just barely in what he hoped was the direction of the being helping him as that purr... that glitching, painful purr just barely softened. He... he could barely remember what he was... who... who was an entirely lost concept. If... If he could just... know... if he could just regain his disc information maybe...
Maybe all of this would finally make sense.
Quȩ̷͝ŕ̷͖y: You... You̸̺͝ ̴͑ͅw̴̟͠i̴̞͌ll only... dé̷̳f̸̲̊r̵̭̚a̶̦̔g... nn̵͓̾ņ̶̅n̸͔̊nnot̸̯̂h̷͌͜ḯ̵̤ng... more?
Clarke sighed with relief when Rinzler rolled off of her, curling around his discs instead. She remained still, in hopes that she wouldn't spook Tron any more than she already had.
If there is anything else medically necessary, I will ask for your consent before acting,
Clarke promised.
I will not make any further changes unless you request me to.

Panic and desperation began to claw apart what little stability he had left, the frantic grab for even that one simple fact of his identity crumbling through his fingers as his processes began to split and tear into duality once again. He... He had one. He knew it he... it was precious to him... why couldn't he remember it. Why was something locking his voice? Why couldn't he speak?
What had he ever done to his master to deserve this silence?

W-Wait...
