The radio is complete and fully functional! We are happy with the result and had an amazing time showing our work off at the 2013 NY Maker Faire. Everyone loved the radio and the fanzines. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth to check it out!

At Maker Faire this weekend, we made this zine for the radio. We were also interviewed and featured in the Queens Chronicle!

Last Saturday we worked on the radio by wiring all parts on a black platform and adding photographs to the exterior side panels of the radio's body.

UPCYCLED RADIO

Improving a 1936 tube radio.

The exterior was in very poor shape, so we stripped and sanded off the finish—when it is done, it will be re-stained and finished with a high-quality photograph of the tubes as the faceplate.

The innards were rusted beyond repair, so we added a solid state amplifier, a new speaker, Bluetooth receiver, iPhone charger, Android charger, and oh yes, FM radio tuner.
