Create your own christmas lantern(s) in just minutes! They look absolutely gorgeous and can be placed anywhere, given as gifts, or used as centerpieces for your christmas table.
I bought this lantern a few weeks ago from goodwill, and later found out that it’s actually quite an interesting buy – It’s a barn lantern from the early 19th century, which is AWESOME! It’s very rustic and if you know me, you know I LOVE rustic. So I decided to turn it into something I can display on my christmas table.
What you’ll need:
Lantern
Artificial snow – Buffalo snow flakes are my favorite.
Glue
Thread
Tape
Small piece of fabric
Christmas decoration of your choice
How to create your DIY Christmas Lantern:
Glue your christmas decoration to the fabric. I used a miniature brush tree that I found at Menards for less than a $1 (for 2).
Next, thread the snow flake buttons and be sure to leave enough leeway for the flakes to hang.
Since the lantern is an antique piece, I didn’t want to use any glue that will damage it permanently. Instead, I used scotch tape to secure the thread.
Next, secure the fabric inside the lantern using tape. Don’t worry about the tape showing, it will be fully covered by all the pretty snow in the next step :)
Lastly, it’s time for my favorite part! Add some artificial snow – Add as little or as much as your heart desires. After all, it’s winter!
And that’s how you turn an old lantern into a gorgeous christmas decoration.
Dont have a lantern handy? No worries – try using a mason jar or the pickle jar :)
Did you get a chance to make this awesome craft idea? I’d love to see your creation! Post a pic on my Facebook page.
