Snake hybrid x Butterfly (Spider) hybrid Part 1
"You three are up in five minutes, so whatever is wrong needs to get fixed quick." Her voice was firm, tight and very direct. That was Mira for you, Mira, their half sister and manager. In a world of hybrids, people see normal (popular) hybrids all the time, dogs, cats, wolves, rabbits. The average hybrid, butterflies, like herself, while less common were much more accepted than other hybrids. That was just the way it was.
Her mother was a beautiful butterfly hybrid, shiny blue wings that fluttered elegantly in the wind with nothing hindering her from taking flight. The wings were the most recognizable part of a butterfly of course, but the fact they dance just made them perfect for becoming idols. Of course, so when her mother had three beautiful girls, of course they were going to aim for the stars, like any former idols children should. The problem was who her mother chose to have children with.
A spider, and of course, of course she was the unlucky one. Her older sister had beautiful purple wings and her younger sister had bright pink wings. Her, she didn't have wings, but three is the number that people look for, three is the golden number, so naturally even though she didn't fit the role she ahd to play the part. So, Mira made her these very realistic looking wings, orange, a nice, friendly color.
Right now, she was hunched over panicked as she looked down and saw what no mixed hybrid wants to see, a patch of something not supposed to be there. Spiders have urticating hairs, so obviously she would too, of course. Her older sister, Rosalind tried to help, but it wasn't like they understood, they got the better half, rolled the better dice and got the good genes. She could only be envious of them. For her though, the show must go one.
"My gloves, can you hand them over? I need to cover up." She insisted as orange gloves landed on her lap, pulling them on, she relaxed as her younger sister looked concerned, but no one said anything. What would they say, what could they say? Nothing that would erase reality. Dusting herself off, she smiled, plastering it on her face as her bright brown eyes turned as the three of them made their way to the stage.
"Are you sure you'll be okay? We can get more time, I'll ask." Rosalind insisted, looking concerned and worried as Natalie, the youngest nodded awkwardly.
"Seriously, this isn't a big deal, we can cancel the show, debut when you aren't going through... you know?" Natalie mumbled, clearly uncomfortable continuing with the performance.
Shaking her head, she looked down at her wrists and stood up. She huffed and tried her best to appear calm, composed, comfortable, even though anxiety and pressure was eating her from the inside out. It was too close to time to cancel now, she just would have to push through. "The show must go on or some shit like that."
"Showtime, girls, I want these numbers soaring, okay?" Mira urged as the three of them stepped on their platforms. She smiled bright as she stood in the middle, front and center, as the panels shifted and curtains opened. There, bright, beaming spotlights highlighted them, one would think she'd be in the background because of her being nothing like a butterfly. Special effects, makeup, and dresses hid a lot more than most would think.
"Hey there, King town. Are you ready to light it up?" She called out to the crowd and beamed, never an open mouth smile. Cheers, screams, and claps erupted as she saw a sea of people, hybrids of different species, all here for one reason, beauty. "It's time for the Kaleidoscope! Big debut performance." An announcement rang out into the crowd, upcoming idols that's what they were. Rosalind grabbed her mic and Natalie spun her mic about.
Singing, dancing, that's what they do, she does that two, but her sisters hear in the earpiece, fly. They do and people obviously applaud. She has a platform beneath her raise her up, it turns into a flower as the crowd screams and reaches out to touch the stage while her sisters sing and she lip syncs. She just can't risk showing off her fangs, it's better, easier, less risky.
"Don't take back, you're right on track, I'll do it all for you."
"Because you know I'm true."
It was catchy, basic lyrics for most, but for her, it was ironic, nothing about her was true. Not really, still people ate it, of course they did. They saw surface level, pretty butterflies, that could sing, but weren't really putting out anything with soul or feeling. Still, she had to do this, had to be this, sing this, she had to. It was for reputation, for her image. Her family's image. Then she almost froze as in the crowd she saw something.
Slit eyes trained on her, scales that dimly reflected the spotlight. The moment she saw it, she paled and people looked over and saw him and others screamed, ran screaming and the show quickly started falling apart. He still didn't move or acknowledge the chaos as the directors cut the performance short. He didn't leave until he was surrounded by security as most hybrids like him were. Still, she stared, not because she was afraid because she was sure she saw him looking at her earlier, staring at her mouth.
Mira was going to hate this.
