Bandai America Is Giving Us Exactly What We Want

Wow, can you believe the Tamagotchi On is now officially released? It feels like just yesterday the device was leaked on Amazon, and then announced back in May. Bandai America finally brought the first color Tamagotchi outside of Japan in english! The Tamagotchi On features identical programming to the Tamagotchi Meets, and the Tamagotchi On application is no different. This was, and still is MAJOR, but there’s more that Bandai America is doing to keep us happy.

The new Tamagotchi On application, there were a lot of fans that were worried about it. Would it be identical to the Tamagotchi Meets app in Japan?, would it be different at all? Bandai America is getting real about Tamagotchi. The On application is merely identical to the Meets application, and we will have some more information on this including events VERY soon! The applications even share the same server, so you are in fact interacting with other users internationally! This is by no means a separate application for our region.

The application is actually published by Bandai Co., Ltd, and not Bandai America, or Bandai Namco. This application is completely developed and hosted by Bandai Japan. So why should you be happy?, because long gone are the days of regional differentiation. In North America we now have an identical user experience to a user in Japan, and that’s major. The last simultaneous release was actually the Tamagotchi V5 Familitchi which was released in Japan & North America and a few other countries within a matter of months, and they even shared the same virtual online website, Tama & Earth Depo.

We cannot say for sure if this will continue, but this is a HUGE step in the right direction. It looks like Bandai America is no longer using their product development team to create different deices for this region, rather they are merely migrating devices over from the Japanese team in Japan, and that’s excellent news for fans.

Bandai America is finally giving us everything we want, and it shouldn’t be overlooked. Something like this would have been deemed impossible a mere 11 years ago.
