I don’t hate malcom todd but can we be so fr rn?

In ‘I Saw Your Face’ by Malcom Todd he talks/sings about missing his ex and not feeling man enough because he can’t talk to her and feels pathetic because he’s still in love with her and this is all a critique of the societal patriarchy that puts down men for showing emotion especially in a relationship or after its ended. AND THEN IN HIS NEW FUCKASS ALBUM HE CALLS A WOMAN A BITCH???? WHAT THE FUCK?????

What happened to critiquing and criticizing the patriarchy and respecting women?

And we as female fans of him are just ok with this?? In his new song ‘Difficult Love’ in his album ‘Do That Again’ he says “You could rip my heart out. Just like you did last time (Bitch).” This isn’t whispered or said in a sing-songy way he legit stops the instrumentals just to say it so it is very clear and emphasized. 

Also this is definitely something that will be screamed by fans during his concerts. I hate to be an ‘annoying woke feminist’ BUT GOD FORBID I DON’T WANT MEN CALLING WOMEN BITCHES or it being normalized by someone in fame. God forbid a woman call a man a bastard too like that word is closely related to bitch and yet is so looked down upon. 

It’s such a double standard and Malcom being the one male singer that was respectable towards women was something I used to ‘put him above’ other singers. But now he’s singing about these ‘conquests’ (my own word) and being a total manwhore in LA (also my own word) and no longer has the LOVE that he used to write about for the people around him or the people he was dating.

He has three very pretty women in their (maybe) early 20’s (models I’m guessing) that tie him up and spray water at him with water guns. AND THEY ARE IN THEIR UNDERWEAR THE WHOLE TIME????

Theres no actual ‘point’ to the music video that I see anyway. It felt like a completely different type of video than the ones that he would direct (or he would direct with his sister Audrey! I love the video for Concrete that Audrey Hobert directed with him)! But now he just has women in their underwear shooting water at him and dancing while he has to watch? Watever boy take your fucking shirt off in the middle of the concert and shit and have the your hands normalize calling women bitch.

I would also like to say that I understand that everyone is excited that Malcom got a big break and is becoming more and more famous and that is amazing!! I would love to gatekeep but im not that girl so good job malcom! (Lol) And everyone changes with time and definitely with fame but its really disappointing to see him change in this way when he used to be an artist I could trust.

Im listening to a podcast ep about AI usage and the guest is saying he completely understands why people refuse to use it out of fear because he shares the same fears, and it's just so weird to me that it's never ever acknowledged that some people don't use it not because they're afraid but because it just holds no appeal. There are things I'm sure learning models are very useful for but none of them have anything to do with me. Yes I'm a bit of a ludite but I completely failed to resist the lure of the phone, or social media, I've never used chatgpt because I have just never wanted to. I feel like the entire debate is instantly reframed once you acknowledge that it's not a necessary service that people either work to resist or avoid out of fear. For most people it's just an online tool, and for me and I know for lots of others too it's just not that important.

It's not that interesting or useful to me, it's holds no appeal, I am resisting nothing. I could already do everything I wanted I don't need a new tool. It really is that simple and I would feel this way even if it wasn't worrying and evil in various ways. We HAVE to resist this narrative that AI is everywhere because people want it, because it's necessary, because it's an improvement, because people can't live without it. AI is everywhere because tech CEOs and investors want to make something from their massive investments. It is incredibly resistable to me. Just don't have an interest in it. This needs to be part of the AI conversation if we have any hope of saving ourselves from the data mining clutches of big tech (AI specifics aside)
