Mewtwo, the genetic Pokémon. Ability: pressure Mewtwo was created by science, in a series of cruel gene splicing and dna engineering experiments. The first and most powerful Mewtwo was birthed on February 6, and the scientific journal states that a Mew was caught and impregnated with the modified clone, and the others were grown in lab equipment. Mewtwo are said to lack compassion, and to strike fear into the hearts of all Pokémon. It was modified to be the strongest of all Pokémon, the ultimate battle weapon, because of this it thinks only of defeating foes. This, plus the pain and fear of suffered during inception, and the betrayal of being used as a weapon, have a huge part to play in its savagery. The first Mewtwo ended up hosting a competition between all of the worlds strongest Pokémon, which most of us remember, urf, super emotional. The movie resolves with Mewtwo seeing the error of its ways, restoring the world to the way it was before, and taking the other genetically modified Pokémon away some place safe. The other Mewtwo don’t share the same level of aggression as the first, but mainly keep to themselves, sleeping in caves storing power. Mewtwo is of course based off the original Mew, but it’s genetic enhancements were modeled after grey aliens. Mewtwo represents soul searching, introspection, isolation, loneliness, inner guidance, and withdrawals.Mewtwo appears when you are in need of a break from all of the external influences of the outside world, and turn your energies and attention inwards. Today’s card is Togepi, the spike ball Pokémon. Togepi can release poison from the spikes on its head, and retract its shell while it sleeps. It can siphon positive energy from others and release it to those who need it most. It’s a joyful creature by nature and loves to share that joy with others, especially those who take care of it. Togepi is seen as a sign of good luck, but has also been known to act maliciously, inflicting bad luck and havoc on its enemies. Togepi is loosely based on Dokkaebi( pronounced tokebi in Japanese)- Korean goblins possessing extraordinary powers that were known to play tricks on people, and sometimes help. Togepi represents good luck, turning points karma, life cycles ,changing patterns, and occasionally bad luck. It reminds us that life is a constant state of change, from cycle to cycle things rise and fall. Like its metronome move, life can be unpredictable. Hoopa is one of the few Pokémon to have two types, it’s both the Mischief pokemon, and the Djin pokemon. It’s favorite past time is causing mischief by teleporting things over great distances,it steals food this way often. Hoopa can change into a more powerful form using the Prison Bottle, and becomes Hoopa unbound, a vengeful, primal spirit. Hoopa’s unbound form can stay out of the bottle for 3 days, as inspired by the tale of the djins three wishes, and the magic lamp. Hoopa is based on Nezha, a trickster/world healer/protector deity in Taoism and Chinese folk religion. This card represents untapped potential,manifestation,resourcefulness,and inspired action. Today’s Pokémon is Combee, the tiny bee. The bottom head is considered ‘the thinker’, while the top two alternative wing movements for flight. This Pokémon is only really sociable around others of its species,and will usually flee if threatened-however if their queen (vespiqueen) is threatened, they will defend her by building a wall around her, and will even kill to keep her safe. Shuppet, the puppet Pokémon. It’s modeled after Japanese ‘teru teru bozu’, a paper doll resembling a ghost. Shuppet has a large horn protruding from its forehead, with which it collects the negative emotions of others and feeds off of them. It’s main diet consists of anger, jealousy, and envy. Many people are grateful when Shuppet come around for this very reason. Shuppet represents the self limiting beliefs that are holding us back. After all, those negative thoughts are it’s dinner. So. Ampharos, the light Pokémon. This Pokémon’s name is a combination of amp+ pharos (Greek for light)also could be a corruption on the Spanish and Portuguese ‘amparo’- protection. The idea of the electric sheep type has been speculated as homage to the story ‘do androids dream of electric sheep’ - which is a personal favorite of mine, so I hope that theory is true 😂 Visually it is based on a sheep and a lighthouse. The light that comes from the orb on Ampharos’ tail is bright enough to be seen from space, and sometimes ampharos’ light is used as a beacon, or to help send signals across the ocean. This card symbolizes a way forward, and a guiding light that will help you make your way through the murky dark of the treacherous waters.
