There is no interview where Rachel shames Shane about the closet. People took an isolated comment where she points out he acted selfishly regarding Ilya's career, and completely made up the rest. And conveniently, everyone ignores the comment where she explicitly clarifies that Shane is not selfish and defends his character arc.

reading comments on a post explaining why rachel didn't write shane as the villain and i found someone insisting she did. i was literally about to reply to their arguments until i saw them claim that rachel glosses over the fact that—wait for it—ilya is physically aggressive with shane. their whole comment just turns into a massive essay on why ilya is an abusive, manipulative man and they were basically one sentence away from saying we need to save shane from his evil boyfriend.

at this point just admit you hate the books and go! like i'm all for critiquing authors and source material but what kind of critique involves twisting every single event just to paint a character as abusive?? this is getting ridiculous. like what do you mean there are people who actually think ilya gets violent and assaults shane during their fight in tlg? we are literally days away from someone taking the scenes of ilya slamming shane into the boards and then transitioning to slamming him onto the bed and using it as "proof" of how abusive he is djsjsjs
