I've been researching if there are any ships with Mephiles other than Silver or Shadow, and I thought, why not ship him with Gadget the Wolf? This ship doesn't exist, so I invented it and I'll call it: Gadphiles.

Question (because your the only sonic artist that I feel comfortable enough to because your so nice)… how does one go about drawing a Sonic OC…? I’m totally not getting back into my sonic phase I realize shoes are a big part of a character’s wardrobe and they would need gloves but I can’t draw sonic much less an OC gulp

This is my guide to drawing sonic from last year! A little outdated but still great. But don’t worry for I have more now!

Here are some notes on the proportion. I’d really suggest taking reference drawing from idw or screenshots of shows and try redrawing the proportions right next to it. If you trace it won’t help but having to consciously analyze the proportions are really helpful!

Since you’re making an oc, character design is important! Their visual appearance should somehow tie in with their personality. For example Sonic’s artwork has him often in a circular motion. It’s a fluid continuity. And if not he’s always still in motion. The way that his quills are shaped curves back, which always gives him a windblown disposition. Very aerodynamic ;). He is speed so it’s conveyed in his design. I also want to note red and blue look good together because they are pretty contrasting against each other which makes visual elements easier to see.

another thing to note is a reoccurring theme. For rouge, hearts. She is very curvy and you can see a lot of that in her design makeup. Obviously cough cough. But besides the breastplate and the shoes, you can see that heart shape visible subtly all throughout the design. This makes her more cohesive and pleasant to look at. (Though there are other assets that also make it enjoyable)

another important thing to look for is if they come in sets. Like the Babylon rogues and the chaotix to note. Vector is very top heavy design and charms is bottom heavy because of his big stinger and wings. Vector is large but charmy is small. Espio is balanced and medium sized. While colors might not tie in they are still visually interesting because of the dynamic figures they pose. Same with the rogues. Jet is medium sized and angular. He has a reoccurring flame design to note. Wave is softer and taller and thinner. And then storm is big and tall which contrasts nicely. There always a reason why the villain has the fat short goon and the tall thin goon. It’s because it visually appealing in arrangements. If they are the same size and height then seeing them together could be rather monotonous. Same with team dark. Shadow is very angular and has weight to his design. Rouge is curvy and has a rounder design. Omega is large and angular which compliments nicely to his friends.

Obviously Sonic is based off western rubber hose characters and he is wonderful squishy which means there’s a lot of room for emotion. His eyes and ears are meant to move. His muzzle is not a confine, make the mouth leave the edge of his face. Wrinkles do not equal age. Your face will crinkle if you smile or frown or open your mouth! Though wrinkles are a sign of age, wrinkles don’t mean age. And again, these are cartoons! Their bangs can stick straight up! Their ears droop! They suddenly go gaunt and have cheekbones when they’re shocked! And stereotypes exist for a reason. No smoke without a fire. Angular eyes can give you someone more jaded, sly, maybe mean. Big round eyes are kind and bright and bubbly you get the idea. But this also means you aren’t confined to it. By knowing these rules you can consciously choose to break them. Have a sweet looking character full of malice. A worn down man that’s a big sweetheart. You see me? Also just look at how different characters eyes are set. Some are closer, split, connected it’s a whole world out there.

Shoes aren’t great but it’s not the worst. Shoes are like characters themselves. Sonic has running shoes so the toe is off the ground. Has a sense of movement. Shadow is sturdy he has weight he is a grounded character. And boy do his air skates look heavy. And rouge. Is rouge. Do I need to say more?

honestly making an oc is a lot of fun. If you do go the fankid route it’s just blending traits and trying to figure out what elements you’d rather take from each parent. If you go completely original, a bit more daunting but you don’t need a backstory or anything complicated. Just a vague idea of what kind of mobian they are. I’d say the easiest way to start is with tropes and that character can develop by adding things that contrast the trope. For example let’s say I have my oc Carter. He is like the most golden retriever guy ever. But that’s kind of flat. What would be something unexpected? He loves rock music. He’s a total punk rock guy. He works at a bar. Obviously none of this is true about Carter but I’m just explaining. Really your brain knows better than you think. Follow your intuition! If something feels wrong there’s a reason you just can’t label it. If something looks good but you can’t put your finger on what it’s because your brain can recognize pleasing patterns and things, even if you don’t have the words for it. Trust your gut!

How To Play Japanese Mobile Games On iOS Without Making A New Apple ID Or Downloading Third Party Software

Hey guys! I found this quick and easy trick after installing the new Bungou Stray Dogs: Mayoi mobile game and being unable to download the first update due to the different App Stores.

Due to changes in Apple and iTunes features with the latest updates, all other tutorials one may have used to get a Japanese Apple account before now are completely invalid - I know, I’ve been trying all day lmao This method worked really well for me and I’m able to get back into the game, so I hope it works just as well for you!

Please Note that this is an iOS only method and I personally have no experience with any other mobile OS, so I’ll be unable to help you further. I’m very sorry about that.

Let’s Get Started~

First, go into your Apple Account settings through the App Store (by clicking on your display picture at the top right corner of the screen.)

Choose the Change Country/Region option and choose it again on the next screen. (Ignore the message that tells you you’ll have to add in an extra payment option).

Scroll down the list of countries and choose Japan, then Agree to the Terms and Conditions shown on the next screen. You’ll then be taken here:

(Please Note that there will be slight differences in the screens as I’ve taken screenshots of the UK information form, but the information I have provided is all that you need to proceed)

This is very important: Click ‘NONE’ under the payment method options to avoid being prompted to add information for a valid Japanese credit or debit card.

After that, scroll down and fill out the billing address form. You can’t progress until you fill out this form, so you need to put in “realistic” information coinciding with a random area in Japan for it to authenticate properly. Don’t worry about this form being for Billing, you won’t be asked for any personal or incriminating details since you have chosen NONE.

To save some time, here is the information I entered into the form (and it worked):

Street: Nishishinjuku 6-12-6

Shinjuku-ku

Tokyo

Drop down box: Hokkaido

Post Code: 160-0023

Phone: [phone]

Click ‘Next’ and your profile will be set up with the Japanese information. You will now be able to access the Japanese store and perform necessary updates.

If you wish, you can change your original details back the way they were for peace of mind (you will have to anyway to update any non-Japanese apps), but you will have to do this method again if your Japanese games require another update.

PLEASE NOTE that you MAY be able to choose PayPal as a payment option above, if you really want to be able to purchase in-app features. I haven’t tried this option but I imagine that since billing address and payment options are included in your PayPal, you won’t have to put in any of the address information.

The NONE option is the easiest way, and I’m not sure if there would be any authentication problems if the card and address details associated with the PayPal account aren’t correct for a Japanese account transaction.
