Cami avlusunun kuzeyini çevreleyen medrese binası, ana girişi kuzeye bakan on odalı bir yapıdır.

Hey full offence but stop sending me asks like these
This should go without saying but I don’t have to answer to anyone when it comes to the people I choose to befriend. I’m not here to fight and this isn’t a battlefield, it’s a freaking blog meant for facts and memes. And if I want to be friends with someone because I like them and we get along well, I’ll be their friend - and that’s that.
I’m not ignorant. I’m well aware of the existent tensions and I know what goes on in the world but honestly, if I always let geopolitics dictate who I can be friends with or not, I’d only have to be on speaking terms with people within my country’s borders (and even then, I’d still have to limit myself).
Also, I sure as hell am not naive. I know where to draw the line and if someone was ever being openly offensive towards me or my country, I can assure you I’d be fully conscious of it and refrain from interacting with them.
I’ve been getting asks like these ever since I created this blog and I’m utterly sick and tired of it. I’ve been ignoring them so far but they just keep coming. It’s like some of you are trying to stir up unnecessary drama - which is why this will be the first and last post I’ll ever make concerning this matter. From now on, all asks like the ones above will be deleted immediately. So please, don’t even bother sending them.
Istanbul in 19th century
another weird fact [#11]
5 drunk turkish men accidentally got into the soviet borders while doing a traditional turkish dance and when they heard the fire of russian soldiers they ran back to turkey
these weird scratches are located in hagia sophia, istanbul and actually they aren’t just scratches but a sentence written in the runic alphabet that says “halvdan was here”
who is halvdan?
he is a viking commander from olav tvennubrini’s tribe, located in lotofen, norway (200 km above from the arctic circle). one day he settles on a journey to miklagard (aka istanbul) and he is fascinated by this big city and of course wants to visit hagia sophia. he scratched this when he was there
byzantines saw these scratches but didn’t understand it so they didn’t do anything with it. ottomans thought they were natural cracks on the marble so they didn’t do anything with it as well.
this is some kind of interesting vandalism
come on halvdan you fucking settled from the lotofen archipelago to miklagard just to commit vandalism in a cathedral that was built in 537. you could at least write something more creative.
A team of Turkish and Italian archeologists have unearthed what could be the world’s oldest smiley emoji in one of the most important ancient cities of the world, Karkamış, located in the southeastern province of Gaziantep
Ha! Lovely.
where do you begin with this
Slovenia and the Czech Republic (Slovakia, too) were in fact part of the same country for literal centuries but I guess Habsburg conspiracy theories don’t have the same je ne sais quoi that imaginary Communist plots do
for most of the above i have to thank efe from @useless-turkeyfacts #birdsolidarity
hi, would you mind explaining the recent ask for me please? it says that the evolution theory has been removed from the turkish high school curriculum. i have just read some newspapers on the situation but i unfortunately do not understand why this relates to Atatürk? thank you!!!
the topic relates to him because atatürk was the person that brought a modern and secular education system to turkey. now it is obviously being damaged
