Hello! I'm so sorry if you've answered this already but is there a way to make you (stunning) art deco theme default to night theme?
hey! first of all, thank you! ❤️
you can! just switch the colors in the customisation panel (everything that is dark becomes light). when the user clicks on the moon button, they will see the light mode instead of the dark one. the names will be a bit confusing, because your light mode colors will still have 'night' name in their name, but the 'night' name is just a nickname for the switch effect that activates the 'secondary' mode, either that be in a light color scheme or a dark one.
the customisation bar will look basically like this:

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS UNDER THE CUT BEFORE USING
custom colour scheme + 14 more included: there are 14 colour schemes (all with the same background pattern, but in different colours) and a custom one (without a background pattern) if you don't like any of them. all of the colour schemes, either the already included or the custom one, have a night version when the night/day button is clicked.
night/day mode: optional, can be turned it on and off by toggling the option in the customisation panel. it is activated by clicking the moon icon on the bottom right corner.
pop-ups: about me, socials+sideblogs, FAQ (with unlimited questions), tags (unlimited tags with categories and subcategories). all optional. you don't need all pop-ups, by the way, just pick which ones you want and copy+paste their url from the text below. if you don't want pop-ups at all, just put normal links.
ATTENTION: for them to work, in the url fields of the customisation panel, you need to copy and paste the following:
ABOUT ME POP-UP:
#!" class="click
SOCIALS POP-UP:
#!" class="click1
FAQ POP-UP:
#!" class="click2
NAVIGATION POP-UP:
#!" class="click3
about the FAQ: if you don't want a FAQ, just write /ask in the Ask Link field. if you do want a FAQ, you can stylise it with basic html (bold text, italics, underline, paragraph breaks, line breaks, etc) and put as many questions+answers you want as it will scroll if necessary.
about the navigation pop-up: it's the only thing in which you need to directly edit the code. it works like a normal navigation page, if you ever edited one of those. you can have unlimited tags with unlimited categories and subcategories. all instructions are in the code.
updates tab: optional.
8 custom links + display of 5 tags: if you don't use any pop-ups, all sidebar icons are free to use - counting those with the links in the links box, you get 8 plus the archive link. besides that, you can link 5 tags of your choice. all optional.
current media section: the last thing you read/watched/played etc. optional.
notes section: just a little box for extra text. optional.
search bar: optional.
custom title: while there is no official limit, i would not recommend making it too long, especially while using a big title font size. optional.
custom description: you can add basic html to it. optional.
custom sidebar image: max width is 300px, but you can upload smaller images without problem. bigger images will be resized.
tags on click: tags are hidden until the tag button is clicked.
scroll to top button: what it says on the tin.
tracking tag highlight (with info): optional. you can add your tracking tag (or anything else) and, when the box is hovered, additional text will appear (for example, what media you will and will not reblog).
featured posts: optional. 4 featured posts at once. they are defined by the last 4 posts tagged with a certain tag (of your choice). they don't have to necessarily be original posts. for IMAGES/GIFS ONLY. posts with only text will appear blank.
mobile friendly: it has its own version for smaller screens like mini desktop screens, cell-phone and tablets. it's the reason why the theme looks different when in editing mode, by the way.
HIGHLY customisable: everything can either be tweaked or turned it off, all without any coding required (everything can be done in the customisation panel, except adding tags to the navigation page). the only obligatory elements are the sidebar image, the ask button icon (if ask is enabled), the posts container, pagination and credits (that i ask for you not to remove).
a reminder: the Tumblr customisation panel is buggy, so you might have to toggle on and off some elements you want/do not want to make it work. i also recommend you "reset" your custom theme before installing this one (ie, select the default Tumblr theme), so no preferences of your previous theme are inherited by this code. it's not a necessary step, but it helps when customising.
again, let me know if anything happens. thanks for using and liking the theme! 💖
(live) preview (with javascript; without javascript) | get the code (with javascript; without javascript) | support me on ko-fi?
a navigation page to go with my ARTDECO theme, but it can be used separately. no coding knowledge required; everything can be edited through variables and such (the instructions are inside the code). it has two versions: one with javascript, and one without. unfortunately, the version without javascript lacks features, but it is a compromise for those still waiting for javascript permission on custom pages. completely free. don't be shy to inform me of bugs and/or ask questions about the code.

unlimited links;
unlimited categories and subcategories;
scroll to top;
search bar;
day/night toggle;
highly customisable.
