The upside to the adhd forgetting that you made yourself a drink thing is thinking to yourself āman I could go for a drink right nowā and looking to your right and seeing a drink has appeared there. Thank you, past me. I lost you somewhere but you have still provided.
Blaseball history is absolutely fucking unexplainable btw. I don't know what the hell to feel when I will never ever be able to talk about, like. Yeah man you guys don't even know the name Jaylen Hotdogfingers like in passing. She's just a fucking gregory berrycone to you.
When I got my first debit account (I was 19 and this occurred during COVID, if that adds any additional context), I had no clue what ācash backā meant, I thought it was ācash backā in the loyalty rewards way, I was curious about the āDO YOU WANT CASH BACK?ā screen with all the pre-programmed money amounts. Instead of looking it up, I clicked the $20 option at Food Lion one day and I was completely astounded when the cashier pulled a $20 out of the cash register and went to hand it to me. This is the opposite of the natural order of things. The cashier was the same age as me and visibly baked so for a fraction of a second, I was wondering if our wires got crossed somehow. I just stood there for a moment staring at him in confusion while he stared at me in confusion. Then, I took the $20 and gathered up my groceries and left. Luckily, $20 didnāt put me into overdraft. No harm done, just a very embarrassing moment. Anyway, if someone comes into your retail job behaving like it is their first day on earth, it is probably because they feel like it is their first day on earth. Weāre all just trying to figure this bullshit out. Amen.

Whenever they gave us one of those "read through ALL the instructions before you begin!" trick assignments in school where the steps lead you on an increasingly ridiculous goose chase until the final one tells you to just put your name on the paper and turn it in without doing anything else, I was always like, "Okay, but what's the point? Surely the REAL world won't be anything like this." And then I grew up and discovered that not only is the real world often exactly like that, some people won't even read the first line of the instructions even if they make perfect sense. And these people are called "co-workers"
I only had one instructor do this. But, I had heard it was a thing that sometimes happened in the world and, when I saw that first line, I was suspicious and did as I was instructed. When I got up to turn in my paper 5 minutes into class and was told I could leave early since I was done, everyone else in the class look up and glared at me. I smiled, waved and said "I'll see you in the cafeteria when you get done."
They were all pretty disgusted when they showed up.
When we went back to that class, he was grinning. He said "Do you know why I gave you that test?" There was some general no, not really kind of mumbling.
He said, "You are learning how to do lab work that is going to be critical for the lives of your patients. You need to remember this and ALWAYS read the whole SOP before you start an assay. And you should to read along with it when you are running the assay. Our memories aren't always as good as we think they are. Reading and following the instructions for this work is vital."
I don't think he was wrong about that.
"drug seeking" as a patient one of the most dogshit stupid concepts of all time. fuuuck everybody look out this guy came in here expecting medical treatment. better watch out in case he goes to a restaurant and starts food seeking
the new fantasy genre, popehunk, encompasses all books in which historical figures responsible for real atrocities are presented as sexy and potentially suffering from a cute lil' anxiety disorder

It bothers me so much that the healthcare system relies so much on the patient's ability to advocate for themselves, organize their history, and be so persistent against every medical āprofessionalā who says thereās nothing wrong/they can do. But so many struggle with fatigue, brain fog, and face such ingrained systemic barriers, that the people who need and deserve help and support canāt access it.
I saw something recently that resonated with me: āAccess shouldn't depend on who has the energy to fight for it.ā And Iāve never agreed with anything more.
effort does not make a task worthy that is not a succinct argumeng against ai the argument against ai is the argument against data centers and the panopticon of the modern consumerist internet.

I wash the catsā water bowl every other day and every time I do it they swipe at me and pace around me like they are soooo thirsty and I have just stolen their precious water from them that theyāve been spitting food into and then when I put the clean and full water bowl back down they just sniff it and then donāt drink any. Okay so you werenāt thirsty and you just didnāt trust me is that it

That is one of the most astronomical fuck up translations I have ever seen.
And this, children, is why you can't replace translation work with AI
i think that in this day and age it is important to recognize and acknowledge the fact that not all parents of queer teenagers suck. i cite as a source my mother, whom i have been out to since i was 12, who just texted me this meme
i am blessed to have her
for context: my parents were born and raised in Alabama, the heart of the Deep South. they consistently voted Republican for years before Trump came into office and they went "ok this shit is crazy" and jumped ship. they stopped going to church after i came out because they didn't want to go to a place that didn't support their kid. both of them work government jobs and are just as Southern as they are patient, accepting, loving, kind, and level-headed people.
i know i'm an outlier in this case but i just wanted to remind people that the world is not full of horrible people, not every adult is a bigot, and you do not have to settle for the bare minimum when seeking love and acceptance from the people close to you. may every queer person on earth find family or equivalent that is as beautiful to them as my parents have been to me, despite their flaws. we're going to be okay. i love y'all
