Most immortals become the angsty “everyone I have ever loved is gone” kind of immortal. You, on the other hand, instead took it upon yourself to be a loving presence to entire generations of your chosen family, because they are descended from someone you once loved long ago.

Imagine as an immortal making trading cards to remember all your loved ones. Each generation is a new release. You occasionally rank them in tiered lists. You create an enduring TCG secretly based off your family line, and enjoy creating min maxed versions of your family by selecting your favorites from each gen. You can't help but play favorites, literally, and your favorite descendants have the best stats while the black sheep and disappointments have the worst. Family lines are denoted by color and/or symbol. The cards have unique synergistic effects depending on their relationship to one another; being an aunt or uncle (denoted by being previous gen but not directly in lineage) and having the 'Cool' trait grants bonuses to the newer gen card or free equipment cards. Notable pets, homes, and heirlooms are all represented. Eventually one of the current generation members is a huge fan of the TCG and one day sees through the light fantasy veneer of the game and realizes its based on their family tree. This leads them on a quest to both become the best player and discovery the secret identity of the game designer. Using their insider knowledge of their family tree, they're able to predict errata, card bans, and updates, divining a way to victory. Finally at a huge family reunion, they realize there's one individual not represented; You.
