i'm the primary moderator of the gaydexvocaloid channel's comment section, i don't actually reply much but i go through all of our comments and check how appropriate they are etc and i can safely say without exaggeration that we've had close to 600 or more comments comparing our daughter to vimalion yi xi. of that many, about 50% of them outwardly spoke in a racist manner towards her and commented on her race, and i can vividly remember about 10 comments off of the top of my head (though that doesn't make up the total amount) that have outright called her slurs and horrible things for her skin tone. we don't hold anything against the vimalion designs in themselves, but we just want the comparisons to stop. our yi xi is not the "meat girl" yi xi that everyone is used to, she was made up completely of yuma's own concepts and interpretations of her default letters, she was never made to have any similarities to vimalion yi xi, we never thought she'd get compared to that design at all. but there's a point where it starts to get out of hand, i see at least five comments a week comparing her to vimalion in some way, although most are innocent so i leave them be, but 1 in every 15 comments or so has a racist undertone. just to put the numbers into perspective.
i don't know how other yi xi fan designers feel about this too, but i know that i've seen similar treatment of our good friend mitlad, who also has a dark skinned yi xi design, it's just downright disgusting how some people will treat other people. it feels like they don't understand that we're also people behind the screen and when they comment stuff like that, we are the ones to have to read it and make the judgement call on it. i know that people can separate our designs from the vimalion ones, so i'm begging them to try, and if you don't like it, just don't watch it, we can't moderate your feed for you
like yuma said in the tags, it would be best if people didn't ask any more about the vimalion designs, our mental associations for them are just far too skewed by the horrible things we've had to read. we have our own designs that we solely associate with the voicebanks, and have very little interest in the vimalion designs, that's just all there is to it.
