Just to clarify Gray wouldn't sacrifice for 'anyone' the mention is Gray would have chose to sacrifice for his precious ones. As in his decision must had been almost the same in any other possible scenario or person. But his sacrifices revolve around Natsu, Erza, Lucy and Juvia. Second. People dont know how to exploit the GOOD parts of it, because we have to admit they have A LOT of flaws but again is not a shoujo so nothing is perf. here, just lets ignore how they take one step further of decency to be falcon punched 3 km back for some comedy relief or anything else. Like Nah Mashima thanks for creatin’ them but we gonna take our own path from here on smh xoxo.
yeah i mean you can’t expect the relationship to be perfect bc it’s also shounen, so mashima isn’t going to just focus on the relationships. he’s going to focus (at least that’s what i hope he will do) on the plot. but still, there are so many good things abt gr/uvia people just ignore which pisses me off :\\\\ i’m done with mashima’s “canon” lol i don’t even use it half the time like :\\\\ i will treat her Better than just “comedic relief”

LFDKJGLDJGLSDJ i think everyone and their mothers know i love gr/uvia but the fandom makes me want to kms over how horribly they make gr/uvia seem / how mashima writes them sometimes !!! gr/uvia could be such a great relationship if people stopped calling juvia some fangirl / stalker bc that’s not how she is !!!! i read a post somewhere a few days ago that basically says “you can’t expect the normal parts of a western romance in a japanese novel, because you’ll get the wrong ideas” !!!!!! and it’s so true !!!! bc there is so much that is done differently in japan, and as fairy tail may look like it’s in a “western nation” it is a japanese novel written by a japanese man, so you can’t expect it to be like “the notebook” in terms of romance! do i agree with everything mashima has written for gr/uvia? no ofc not bc some of the things he writes is purely for the WIDELY MALE BASED AUDIENCE he has unfortunately !!! it sucks (it also sucks bc the “fans” take this fan service and spin it to make these beautiful women look like shitty characters when in fact ALL THE WOMEN OF FAIRY TAIL ARE BEAUTIFUL AND BADASS AND THEY DESERVE BETTER THAN FANSERVICE) bc if mashima actually stuck to his plot instead of pleasing the fans, gr/uvia would have the potential to be such a BEAUTIFUL ship and not just a comedic relief “tsundere” “fangirl” trope !!!
god, what juvia did in chapter 499 was one of the most genuine and beautiful sacrifices anyone in this manga has ever made. despite her beliefs (from the fight against meredy) saying “you live for the ones you love” she KILLED herself so gray, the person she LOVES, could live on !!!!! (i’m still so pissed that people are saying “gray would kill himself for anyone” like okay ,,,,, sounds fake but Okay,,,)
ANYWAYS idek why i started ranting but here you have it, this is why i hate the fandom a lot of the time, bc they only take the most “obvious” tropes of the ship and twist it to make it look ugly, when you haven’t even taken a look at the tiny details: gray and juvia REGULARLY go on jobs together, which means gray chooses jobs for him and juvia and not just for him and team natsu, he taught her how to fit in and tried to make her welcome in fairy tail a good one, despite their previous fight, he LITERALLY TOOK AWAY HER RAIN !!!!, he blushes when erza tells him to think more seriously about his feelings, he’s always by her side, even as just a friend, he’s supportive of her, he CLEARLY cares about juvia, they LIVED TOGETHER FOR 6 MONTHS, he felt guilty and ashamed when juvia showed up after he disappeared, not to mention juvia cried over the fact she didn’t know if gray is okay (like yeah, go on, tell me she’s a fangirl stalker) ETC, ETC, ETC THE LIST GOES ON AND ON AND ON.
in conclusion, i’m in love with gr/uvia, i’m not in love with the fandom pitting juvia as a mindless fangirl and gray as an asshole, and mashima’s writing sucks most of the time because he’s stated he mostly caters to fans and guess what most of his fans want? girls’ shirts ripped and a “fantasy girl that obsesses over you”. THE END PLS GIVE GRAY AND JUVIA A BETTER MANGA THAN FAIRY TAIL, OR AT LEAST A BETTER WRITER.

okay but what did gray do w/ juvia’s body ,,,, did he just leave her there in the middle of the battlefield after she died ??? did he drag her off to the side ??? did he carry her to safety before going after invel ??
btw i haven’t forgotten abt the starters i owe people i’ve just been colouring manga panels all day so i’ve been a bit Busy !! i’ll get to them once i’m finished this project ;)

juvia is literally such a beautiful character and i’m pissed it’s taken this long for people to realize it. juvia has sacrificed herself for fairy tail and her friends and GRAY countless times! she sacrificed herself during the fantasia arc, sacrificed her leg during tenrou, and almost died in order to kill keith so everyone else would be safe. she’s just ??? done sosososo much for everyone and i hate that she died but the fact she would rather kill herself than kill gray speaks VOLUMES about who she is as a person. she isn’t some ‘stalker’ or ‘gray-obsessed fangirl’ she’s a girl who has such a huge heart she’s willing to end her life for the sake of others’ happiness and well-being. ( i just really wished she’d get her own happy ending i’m so Emo )
