" I wouldn't call it childish, " despite his words, the way his voice dips implies self-awareness. Yes, he knows he's acting like a brat being denied a treat. It was working. But the approach was much gentler than the alternative. Not that the six-tails needed to know that any time soon. He feels a smile spread across his features, revealing a sharp-toothed grin. It could very easily be a casual expression of glee, a declaration of success. But maybe it's a subtle warning, too. Sukea appears to be a half-useless reporter, traveling for his job... But there are many unknowns to him as well. Which he supposes Utakata has already accepted. He was a shinobi & a good one at that, which he had gathered from the limited information ready to him.

" Yeah, yeah you don't look cheap... That's part of the appeal. But I can write it off as a business expense, yeah? " He rambles, throwing a half-truth into the conversation. It was true, he could write it off as a business expense. He was on a mission for the Akatsuki & thus the Akatsuki should pay for it. It was simple. But he could be reimbursed later, as there was a golden opportunity in front of him.

" What do you say about half now, half when we get there? We can talk details over dango. " ( so it begins ) " unless you're more of a savory guy. "

I surely will though, your whining is childish. ❞ There's a sigh that spills past his lips as hand comes up to rub at his face, pushing brown locks out of one of his eyes to reveal another amber eye that stares at the other male judgingly. There's a sudden tilt of his head, his amber eyes looking down at his own form then back at the male, brows furrowing. He doesn't look cheap? Was it an insult? Was it a compliment? Scowl settles onto expression, he didn't know what to make of it ( he chose not to read further into it for his sanity's sake ).

❝ Sure, do whatever it is you want as long as you pay me. ❞ There's a roll of his eyes, hands settling on his hips. Half now and half when they get there? That left too much room for betrayal and him only getting paid half overall. Then again, this one didn't look like too much, yet as a shinobi he knows looks are absolutely deceiving ( like his own seeing as nobody thought about a demon when they looked at him ).

❝ How can I be sure you won't betray me and run off without paying me the other half? ❞ The words spill past his lips before he thinks about the other words that this man had said. ❝ I do not mind dango. ❞ He does not have a huge sweet tooth, he is more an enjoyer of the savory side of food but it has been quite a good amount of time since he has actually gotten to have dango, perhaps he is craving it a bit now that it has been brought up.

Each member of the Akatsuki had been tasked with collecting a jinchuriki. Some members were bolder with the assignment than others, but it was in Kakashi's nature to do things a bit more carefully. He was a wanted man, with a reputation at his heel. Silver hair & mismatched eyes would often give him away, so Sukea had become an identity of reprieve from such things. He could be utilized for missions like this, where he wasn't sure of the power his future opponent held. Sukea could be a traveling reporter, writer, photographer, whoever Kakashi decided he would be he become. He had a shroud of anonymity that was endlessly useful. This was one of Kakashi's favorite games, the push & pull of accomplishing a mission on his own terms.

" Oh come on, it's dangerous territory. You seem like a pretty capable guy! " He whines, poking & prodding at the other. The land Utakata was passing through wasn't all that dangerous. At least not for people like them. There were bandits that littered the road, but to a seasoned shinobi, it wouldn't be difficult to handle the potential conflicts. But he didn't have to know what Sukea was capable of, in fact it was better if Utakata believed him to be incompetent. That Sukea did not appear as a threat. He pretends to have an idea, sticking up his finger to emphasize a feigned excitement, " What if I paid you? for the trouble of protecting me! "

Dangerous territory. Oh please. He wants to slap his hand against his forehead, he wants to slap his hand at the others hands ( actually he does decide to do that one ). Some bandits was the worst in this area, that was nothing to a shinobi like him but ah, right, amber eyes stare at Sukea ( as far as he knows this man is not a shinobi like him ). Utakata is a sensor type, he can tell the other male does have chakra as all living people do but, either he's damn good at concealing it from sensor types or he's really just a civilian with a normal amount of chakra that civilians had. So, that means this would be dangerous territory for him if he really was a civilian ( sounds like a him problem though ).

❝ Just how old are you to be whining so childishly? ❞ He asks the question, sounding annoyed as hand rises to pinch the bridge of his nose ( but the question also posed as a good one to ask to learn more on this stranger ). He's about to flat out tell him to just deal with it when suddenly there is a mention of him getting paid by the other and well, that is not an unwelcome situation. He was a missing - nin, he took missions from random people as is to make sure he had money to survive after all, his funds were getting shorter . . . he could stand to take a mission and get paid . . . even if this man was surely annoying. ❝ It depends on how much you are going to pay me. If you're cheap you can figure out how to save your own ass from bandits. If you pay me a good amount then I will allow us to travel together until we reach safer areas. ❞ He says all this, agrees to it, but then he's sure he will regret this.

Amber eyes settle onto the form of the other man, lips curling down into a frown as arms cross over his chest. This man, volunteering himself to be a traveling partner along with him for a bit since they seemed to be going in the same direction, Utakata had flat out said no but the other male had really followed him in the same direction all the way to here like they really were going the same direction. Fine. if this man continued to be stubborn and follow along even after he speaks up once more, Utakata would test him.

❝ I said it before and I will say it again since It did not get through your head the first time. I do not need nor want a traveling partner. You can go your own way and I go mine. ❞ With a huff, he moves to sit down under a shady tree, wanting a quick rest from all the annoyance this other man has brought to him.
