Artists here on tumblr have to beat their prices in at the knees so they can sell at a decent pace, take it from someone who undersells: I’d rather work for a 10 dollar commission and have that money rather than charge 30 and not get any commissions at all.

If you think someone is underselling: tip them. Tip your artist, it’s that simple. If you can’t tip then your opinion didn’t matter anyways!!!!

hey i hope this doesnt bother you if i ask but im in love with your art, i want to try something similar with my art and i was wondering what brushes you use for your work or if you could post like the settings? i love the crisp yet sketchy line art and the texture and the way you color and just *_*

hey anon! for lineart I use a custom version of photoshop’s marker brushes, it looks like this

I got the brush from a friend years ago, it basically just works like the default marker brushes but a little more texture-y. you can just fiddle with the settings until you find something that works for you.

on the one hand this is a joke post because lol i have never made a good post in my life, but also, if i hadn’t made the connection between this update and my sudden nosedive in activity, i would have been really fucking discouraged about all the shit i’ve been working on lately. i guarantee there are people on tumblr right now who haven’t made that connection, and who are trying to figure out why suddenly no one likes anything they’ve made. and that fucking sucks.

This ain’t a goof. ALL art blogs are at a HUGE disadvantage because of this feature, big/ small / nsfw or otherwise. Considering art is one of tumblr’s biggest communities, this is pretty appalling @staff . This is a matter of livelihood for a lot of us.

Likes can only go so far for artists. Artists may exclusively upload their artwork to tumblr, or don’t have the time to use other sites and prefer tumblr over deviantART due to its simplicity, but the tagging system can make it harder to navigate. Many artists on tumblr tag with high-traffic tags or use their own tags to prevent tag clogging which eventually become lost. That’s why it’s very important to reblog an artist’s work.

I’m not trying to push you to ruin your blog’s aesthetic or something, nor am I saying that “you must absolutely reblog your favourite artist’s work or you’re trash”, all I’m saying is if you truly want to support your favourite artist, instead of just liking their posts, try to reblog them once in a while. The more reblogs they receive, the more exposure/notes/followers they may receive, and it’s just one of the easiest ways to show you care about them.
